Gulf Traffic Under Attack…. Still/Again

A Japanese-owned tanker, used by Israelis to move oil, has come under attack by Iran. In fact, all shipping in the Persian Gulf is being harassed by Iran’s “navy”.

From the article: Throughout the past week an explosive investigations team from the US Navy’s aircraft carrier the USS Ronald Reagan has been examining the evidence left behind by the drone attack.
After interviewing the survivors and studying the explosive residue they have concluded that the ship was targeted by three drones in all.
The first two, launched at the ship on the evening of Thursday 29 July, missed their target. But the third drone, launched early on Friday 30 July and loaded with a military grade explosive, hit the pilot house and exploded, killing the two men and leaving a 2-metre diameter hole.
Investigators say explosive chemical tests had identified the residue as RDX, a nitrate-based explosive, indicating that the UAV was rigged to cause injury and destruction.
The investigators also recovered part of the drone’s wing and after further testing they concluded that the drone was produced in Iran. A joint statement issued by all the G7 nations on Friday condemned Iran’s actions and said its actions threatened peace and stability.
The incidents come at a time of heightened tension in the region as the new, hardline President Ebrahim Raisi takes power in Iran and talks aimed at reviving the moribund deal to curb Iran’s suspect nuclear programme falter in Vienna. – article
It was inevitable, wasn’t it? That the minute we announce ‘We’re leaving’, Iran would start upgrading its obnoxious behavior? Why am I not surprised? I did wonder how long it would be.
Sorry, guys, but we can’t be the world’s police corps. And since it’s becoming more and more clear that Iran wants nuclear missiles so that they can smash Israel to smithereens, the recent cozying-up with China should be looked at, too. Remember, boys and girls, when you do your homework tonight, to be sure to look for China’s nuclear missile platform-building “somewhere in the desert” , probably somewhere to the west of Beijing.
Ask yourself why, if China is buddying-up to Iran and the Taliban in Afghanistan, do Those ME People really think they’re going to get any benefit from it? (Aside from tormenting their neighbors, of course.)
If this attack means that commercial traffic in the Persian Gulf is going to be constantly harassed by these idiots, they have about – what? maybe 2.5 years to do their mischief? And are we going to be re-involved in this crap?
What’s worse? The Devil you know, or the Devil you don’t know? Well, they did want us out of there, and it brings up that old saw: Be careful what you wish for. You might get it….

I wonder if one of our Navy assets could quietly cruise there, in “disguise” (I know, I know, don’t ask me how) as a freighter or other civilian cargo carrier. Of course, always keeping visual & electronic “eyes” out for these armed drones.
Spot one, trace it back to its source, then launch a missile back to said source. (over-the-horizon?) Would Iran dare raise an international stink over the destruction of their asset?
I’m sure President Dementia will ship them a pallet of cash to get them to stop.
Don’t you think they can get more cash from China than they can from us? Seriously, all the electronic junk that people rely on now comes from China, never mind household goods and other such things. And guess who gave them the specs to create that stuff????
