News On Afghanistan and Our Troop Withdrawal
The withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan is proceeding, however slowly it may seem. But the end date for our withdrawal is, as indicated below, August 31. Meantime, embedded in the first linked article is a video by an Indian news group which clearly indicates that the Taliban are becoming more and more bold about their own presence and intentions in Afghanistan. They are currently going after Afghans who are Sikhs. No, they’re not gone. They never were. They just pulled back, regrouped and now they are striking again.
From the article: United States will continue to carry out airstrikes to support Afghan forces facing attack from the insurgent Taliban, a regional US commander said on Sunday as US and other international forces have drawn down troops in Afghanistan.
The Taliban escalated its offensive in recent weeks, taking rural districts and surrounding provincial capitals, after US President Joe Biden said in April US troops would be withdrawn by September, ending a 20-year foreign military presence.
“The United States has increased airstrikes in support of Afghan forces over the last several days and we’re prepared to continue this heightened level of support in the coming weeks if the Taliban continue their attacks,” US Marine General Kenneth McKenzie told a news conference in Kabul.

McKenzie, who leads US Central Command, which controls US forces for a region that includes Afghanistan, declined to say whether US forces would continue airstrikes after the end of their military mission on August 31.

Frankly, it is no surprise that the Taliban are growing more and more bold. The entire area has never known anything but warfare since the beginning of civilization. And once we are gone and the Taliban really get back to their life’s work of destroying anything they don’t like, we’ll get invited to return and “fix it” for the Afghans.
The odds on a USA return to That Place? I’d guess about 5 to 1, we’ll find ourselves back there within TWO years.

This will end up just like “Operation Joint Endeavor”, 1995. Bill Clinton promised us it was a 1 year mission. Guess what, folks. It’s still going. It just gets a new name every year.

Yep, and the Chinese Communists will turn the “Graveyard of Empires” into a Empire wide graveyard. And the Chicoms will not care how many people, on either side, are killed. They have their eye on a new “Silk Road” and the mineral resources that will become available. They will have to literally kill every man, woman, and child to accomplish their goal. That’s a tougher sell worldwide as they have no righteous claim to it…it’s not like Hong Kong or Taiwan where they might have a legitimate claim with respect to a united China.
Burning Afghanistan to the ground by China when they’ve not been attacked or threatened by Afghanistan is unlikely.
What’s more likely is an alliance of sorts made with the Taliban as the Chinese puppets. Because the Chinese won’t give a shit what the Taliban does to the people of Afghanistan as long as the Taliban does the bidding of China in the market place or logistical space as China sees appropriate.
Afghanistan is connected to Xinjiang via the Wakhan Corridor Nature Refuge.
Xinjiang is home to the Uyghur people.
Xinjiang already has multiple fenced and heavily guarded “re-education centers capable of housing up to 10,000 Uyghurs. Perhaps they will attempt “re-education” of the Afghan people.
China wants control of southwest Asia (e.g.,Afghanistan, etc.) because they want the rare earths that can be extracted there. That stuff goes into the tech toys that people take for granted nowadays. Money has always outweighed religion, y’know.
Let them have at it. We can watch while the clash goes on. I’d love to see the Taliban go up against the Chinese Army. Who would be the nastier party?
