Catholic bishops considering communion policy that could impact Catholic politicians

| June 15, 2021

One candle lights multiple candles. These candles, in turn, like additional candles. This is a basic concept of “spreading wisdom”. (thisischurch.com)

Scripture indicates that Jesus embodied the 10 Commandments, and the other biblical commandments that are based on these commandments. By extension, Jesus’s “body”, the bread, the communion, is symbolic of God’s word. When a Christian participates in communion, they are symbolically “taking God’s word” into them. By extension, they are symbolically committing to taking actions that are consistent with God’s Commandments.

A reading and understanding of the Bible indicates a biblical philosophy that contradicts what many on the left want to do. This includes leftist policies that Democrats want to implement. The US Catholic Conference of Catholic Bishops is considering a change of Communion policy that may result in communion being refused to Catholic politicians. These politicians are among those pushing policies that are contradictory to the teachings of the church.

From Newsmax:

At their virtual annual meeting from Wednesday to Friday, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops will decide whether to ask the Committee on Doctrine to draft a teaching document on the topic of Communion, a sacrament central to the Roman Catholic faith.

If the conference decides to commission that document, it could be a strong symbolic rebuke of those who espouse views that are contrary to church teachings, including Biden and other Catholics who support same-sex marriage and abortion rights.

The bishops would then review an amendable draft of the document at their fall meeting.

A White House spokesperson declined to comment.

In 2004, the conference published a statement that said individual bishops could decide whether to deny Communion to Catholic politicians who support abortion rights.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, a woman’s willful termination of her pregnancy is “gravely contrary to the moral law” and that marital love should be shared between men and women, not people of the same sex.

Biden, a former vice president and U.S. senator, has become a staunch advocate for LGBTQ rights in the past decade. Since taking office in January, he has also rolled back federal restrictions on abortion pills to make them more accessible, and proposed axing a long-standing ban on federal funding for abortion in his 2022 budget.

Makes sense to me, let’s not forget that the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Kansas once excommunicated Kathleen Sebilius in his jurisdiction while she was 0bama’s HHS Secretary because of her open support for abortion.

Can you say OVERDUE?

I knew you could.

Didn’t the Catholic Church try something like this back in the 20s/30 with the mobsters? No Last Rights, no funeral mass? Yea, that worked real well, I’m sure it will deter those Dems, like it did with the real mobsters.

Carlton

The action is more about defending the sanctity of the Sacraments than about changing politicians’ minds.

Taking Communion requires one to first attend Confession.
Be nice to see all the politicians confess their sins.
Hell, I would join in with them if it came to that.

RetiredDevilDoc8404

Chaps told me I couldn’t take Communion because I was divorced and had remarried without an annulment, so I don’t have a problem with them telling these pols sorry, no Communion for you. Cut ’em off!

Quartermaster

You’re a prole. The politicians are above you.

Seriously, the Bishops are moral cowards. If they weren’t, it would be more than just denial of communion. It would include excommunication.

The Souls of all of the murdered Babies will be awaiting to watch the Barbed Co@k of Satan torture these mofos as the mofos burn in Hell for all Eternity. Jesus may have been all about that Forgiveness Thing…but His Father?…Not so much!

No one is above God’s Law…And He had them engraved in stone.

It appears the idea is getting some traction, as it started in the Archdiocese of San Francisco a month ago.

Media: Pelosi and Biden say they are good Catholics.

God: I will be the judge of that.

“Catholic”? Oh yeah, the new Canadian reference for ‘Where’d the Residential School records go’… Guess Church and State really don’t make such strange bed-fellows after all.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Indeed the pope came up a little short on this one….

They don’t want some anti-abortion folks to take communion that’s their right certainly…

But they should really take a long hard look internally before commenting to heavily on that outside stuff…

Molesting kids or worse as you point out, murdering native kids in attempt to kill the “indian” in the child…

It’s clear they are worried about kids only before they are born as their actions post birth leave something to be desired.

Hatchet

Roger that. All of that. Two thumb’s-up 😎👍

Democrat politicians such as Pelosi and Bidden could give two s#!ts about abortion or same sex marriage, they realized a long time ago that supporting those is what it took to get re-elected.

It is all about maintaining power.

Hack Stone

Governor Martin O’Malley effectively banned capital punishment in the state of Maryland because it went against his Catholic faith. And yet, not a word as to abortion.

Not every killer deserves to die, but there a few that earned the punishment. A few years back in Maryland, some guy killed his girlfriend. Sad to say that is not an unusual event. Then he took her son with him to various places in Maryland, only to beat an 8 or 10 year old to death with a baseball bat. No death penalty for that bastard. Only consolation is that if he hasn’t already been beaten to death in prison, he will. And whoever does it will find $20 in their prison commissary account courtesy of Hack Stone.

Hatchet

“only to beat an 8 or 10 year old to death with a baseball bat”? Beyond appalling…
Hack, REALLY hope your ‘dream’ come’s true. If it ever does, please count me in to top-off said commissary account with at least another twenty…

To this day and many years later, this case still haunts me –
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bernardo.

Bernardo’s wife(Karla) was an equally reprehensible waste-of-skin(helping Paul to drug, rape and kill her sister) –

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karla_Homolka

Bernardo is up for a Parole hearing – tentatively scheduled for 22 June 2021.
Our family lawyer(Tim Danson) who also represents the French and Mahaffy family will be present at Bernardo’s second PB hearing to make sure he stay’s where he belongs – in one of Canada’s worst prisons – Millhaven(aka ‘the Haven’ ‘cos that’s where CorrCan warehouses it’s Pedo’s).
‘Course then there’s former Col. Russel Williams – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Williams_(criminal)- but that’s a whole ‘nother story…
Cheers

The Other Whitey

As a believing and practicing Roman Catholic Christian myself, I seriously doubt anything will come of this. Too many bishops are far too comfortable swimming in political circles, and far too few of them have the spine God gave an amoeba. Only a few have any balls to speak of. Priests who stand up to the bullshit get reassigned, transferred, or otherwise muzzled. The fact that a godless false priest currently occupies the Chair of St. Peter doesn’t help either. Biden, Pelosi, and a long list of other similar sacks of shit should’ve been excommunicated decades ago.

rgr1480

I miss Pope Benedict XVI ….. This Francis feller just makes me sick; telling the US Bishops Council to not politicize Holy Communion! Heck, those bishops and priests who wish to deny Holy Communion to these politicians are just being Catholic; they are not playing politics.

Quartermaster

When the question was asked “Is the Pope Catholic,” the answer used to be yes. Now, I think it’s no. Catholic Bishops have been the same way for years.

The massive apostasy we are seeing across the entirety of Christendom was prophesied years ago by Paul. It is well under way.

I was baptized and Confirmed in the Episcopal Church but went to another years ago. I didn’t abandon the Episcopal Church, it abandoned me when their top echelons decided to go full throttle PC!

Until man turns his heart to the Almighty we risk Him reaching His hand down or the return of His Son.
The first condition is an improbability, yet I pray.
The second event is not up to us, He will decide when His will be done, yet I pray.
And if the third possibility comes to bear, we’ve all read what happens. Yet I still pray.

I don’t think many people realize how specifically Catechism spells out the Catholic stance on abortion: 2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life. 2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law: You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes. 2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae ,” 77 “by the very commission of the offense,” 78 and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. 79 The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society. 2273 The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation : “The inalienable rights of the person must be recognized and respected by civil society and the political authority. These human rights depend neither on single individuals nor on parents; nor do they represent a concession made by society and the state; they belong to human nature and are inherent in the person by virtue of the… Read more »
