So? How is that gun control working?

| June 14, 2021

Both New York City and Chicago experienced gun violence over the weekend. On Friday and Saturday, New York recorded at least 16 shootings and five homicides. On Saturday, Chicago experienced three deaths and 34 shooting related injuries. In New York, shooting incidents are up 68% compared to a similar time last year. Although Chicago reported an 8% decrease over the previous month, shooting incidents are up 17% compared to a similar time in 2020.

From Fox News:

According to the New York Post, which cited police sources, a 42-year-old man was killed and a 28-year-old female bystander was wounded in a broad-daylight shooting outside a Bronx church on Saturday. The man was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds in front of the Church of St. Anthony of Padua just after 2:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the woman suffered minor injuries when three bullets grazed her body. Both victims were taken to Lincoln Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman was treated for her wounds and released, police said.

Other victims over the weekend reportedly include a 23-year-old man who was shot in the back; a 19-year-old man shot in the back in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx; a 26-year-old man shot in the right thigh by a gunman who fled in a gray sedan and a 40 year-old who walked into Wyckoff Heights Medical Center after being shot in the foot.

I am surprised Chi-town is only up 17% from last year…didn’t they have a lock down?!

Bet that last victim that walked into Wyckoff Heights Medical Center was a self inflicted victim!!

Sounds like the kid that the Judge let off on three previous Gun arrests, one after he falsely reported someone else shooting him in the foot, before his most recent where he randomly shot a father walking down the block because he was sneaking in to another gang’s territory. [New York needs to fix it’s sentencing guidelines, not create new gun laws!]

And in related news…..

California files appeal after judge overturns decades-old assault weapon ban

California on Thursday appealed a judge’s ruling that overturned the state’s decades-old ban on assault weapons, claiming it was an outlier to at least six other federal decisions and an attempt to get it in front of the conservative-leaning U.S. Supreme Court.

State Attorney General Rob Bonta filed the three-page appeal with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco following U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez’s decision last Friday.

….

Gov. Gavin Newsom denounced Benitez as “a stone-cold ideologue. He is a wholly owned subsidiary of the gun lobby of the National Rifle Association.”

“We need to call this federal judge out,” Newsom continued. “He will continue to do damage, mark my word. This is a very focused agenda to work through this judge, where the decision’s already made before it’s even presented, who writes ‘press releases’ on behalf of the gun lobby.”

The Firearms Policy Coalition, which led plaintiffs who won at the trial level, condemned the governor’s “outrageous and callous personal attacks” on the judge.

“Newsom’s verbal assaults on a long-respected member of the judiciary shows his deep and continuing disrespect for the rule of law, the judiciary, the Constitution, and the human rights of California citizens,” the group said.

Knew this was coming most rickey tick, and the 9th Circus Court will ensure it will go to SCOTUS. Wether or not it’s heard there is another issue.

What is hypocritical is that when Trump criticized judges, he was called out. When Governor Newsom makes statements about Judge Benitez, the mainstream media (also known as the Audio Visual Department of the Democratic Party) is silent.

As for the 9th Circuit, there are more strange decisions because of the number of cases. It has been proposed to break up the 9th Circuit and that should happen.

The two wackier Circuits are, IMHO, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the Fourth Circuit which has become increasingly bizarre.

When one reads the Benitez decision, it really is well thought out and relies on Supreme Court rulings. CA is relying on 1) guns are scary and 2) this has been a law for 30 years. ie “feelings” over substance.

That being said, check out this bit of strangeness from the 9th Circuit who ruled that a prosecutor who stated multiple time in court during a trial that the defendant was “no longer presumed innocent” and that the defendant’s “presumption of innocence was over” was okay because the statements couldn’t be shown to have affected the outcome of the trial. WHAT?!?!

But you are probably right…..the 9th will over turn, but there is another “gun rights” case out of CA that will get to the Supreme Court first.

And the libs are out in full force…saw an editorial from a UNH professor which says the judge CLEARLY overstepped because, you know, the 2nd only applies to governmental militias, ie: National Guard. (I am guessing she has missed the multiple decisions defining who belongs to the militia!) Expect to see more of this nonsense as they try to claim that sure, ARs can be MILITIA weapons, but only activated National Guardsmen can have them.

Interestingly, I read somewhere a few days ago that several blue states are concerned that if the San Diego ruling ends up in the Supreme Court that it will be upheld, resulting in their own similar laws rendered null. The author said the AG’s in some of these states were urging California that it might be a wiser course of action to not challenge Judge Benitez’ ruling.

Of course, like so much else out there on conservative sites, it may be nothing more than wishful thinking.

I’m no lawer, I didn’t even stay at a Holiday Inn. But, if the Benitez ruling isn’t appealed wouldn’t that give cause to take other states to court that have similar bans? At least one other Circuit Court would uphold a ban such as New Yorks. Wouldn’t that almost automatically prompt Supreme Court review?

So? How is that gun control working?

It isn’t.

Gun control laws mandate that law abiding citizens be victims of violent crime.

GUN CONTROL LAWS and the politicians who pass them do little more than aid, abet and embolden violent criminals by assuring them via legislation that Law-Abiding People will be conveniently disarmed VICTIMS.

Wait ‘till August and keep your powder dry.

ChipNASA

I’m sorry and I hate to appear stupid but “August”?

KoB

Never been about control of the gunz; the ultimate goal has been control of “We, The People”.

Still having a hard time wrapping my head around that whole “what part of shall not be infringed” don’t you idiots understand.

The Federal Army didn’t have too many problems confiscating firearms in the Occupied South during the Reconstruction Period. Don’t think that it would go so easy on anyone that tried to do that now.

Molon Labe…Bitches! We’re willing to die to keep weapons…Are the gunz grabbers willing to die trying to grab them?

Jonn wrote an article in 2017 about then LT Governor of Virginia, ole Coonman KKK Ralphie Boy and his stance on Gun Control:

(*Note to MarineDad61: ANOTHER Gulf War Embellisher who spent his time during the first Gulf War in Lanstuhl, Germany)

He found out later that alot of Virginians did not take kindly to his Gun Control beliefs.

The irony of all of this is that he has no problem with innocent lives taken:

Liberals will do all they can to spare the lives of convicted murderers on Death Row while openly espousing the wanton killing of Unborn Children, further proof that liberalism is a mental disorder!

I just want an honest breakout of “gun crime” by age, gang affiliations, legality, and demographics. I strongly suspect if you eliminate under-age gang-bangers of color using illegally owned guns, we would become one of the safest countries in the world. Prove me wrong.

Meanwhile, in Austin, Texas, two shooters wounded many and killed one, for the time being. One of the shooters was arrested by the police. The other shooter is in the wind, but the local fishwrap, the Austin American-statesman, opted out of any serious reporting on the incident. The editor, or editorial board or the local democrat party said, in reference to the description provided by the police, “(T)he Austin American-Statesman, one of Texas’ most prominent newspapers, refused to publish that description, claiming they would be “perpetuating stereotypes” if they did.
This is the description released by the PD, “black male wearing a black shirt with a skinny build and with dreadlocks.”
