Gun Sales Continue to Soar

| April 5, 2021

According to estimates from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, more than seven million Americans have become first-time gun buyers in 2020, and the trend has continued. Many new owners don’t fit the conservative stereotype. This is healthy, and will tend to put a damper on some of the more egregious civil rights limits proposed by the far left. Bottom line? The genie is out of the bottle and won’t go back quietly.

Americans sure are exercising their Second Amendment rights. March had the second-highest number of background checks for the purchase of a firearm on record, beaten only by March of last year, according to new data from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

NSSF analysis indicates more than two million background checks were conducted for the purchase of a firearm through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) last month. Through the first quarter of 2021, nearly 5.5 million were conducted, according to the NSSF-adjusted data.

President Joe Biden has spent the early months of his presidency building an ostensibly anti-gun cabinet, and his press secretary has indicated multiple times that anti-gun measures are coming in the not-so-distant future.

Last year saw more than 21 million background checks conducted for the sale of a firearm, a simply astonishing number. At the current pace, 2021 could potentially surpass that.

The NSSF-adjusted data factors out background checks that were unlikely to be used in the purchase of a firearm to better reflect the number of Americans buying guns.

It’s a seller’s market, too, where MSRP rules. Hasn’t done much to slow the flood, though. Article and links here: Americas 1st Freedom

I always said President Obama was the greatest gun salesman ever, but the Biden Administration may give him a run for his money.

Trust Democrats? Ask the Indians about how givin’ up your guns goes.

The Other Whitey

Wounded Knee…

Well, the Indians didn’t have that many guns when the British East Indian Company defeated the Mughal’s nominal vassal, the Nawad of Bengal, in the Battle of Plassey in 1757. The French supported the Nawad with firearms and trained native musketmen, but it was too little too late.

The Mughal Empire was too weak, too far behind technologically, and too fragmented, to present a coordinated defense against the Company’s expansion in the Subcontinent, regardless of how many guns they had.

OWB

Bengal? Plassey?? They in Montana or maybe Wyoming???

Yer in ‘Merica now, son. The British East India Co means little to nothing to us.

Sparks

Gun manufacturers and sales outlets are popping the champagne and will be after each month is totaled for some time to come.

QMC said it best above. Biden is the greatest gun salesman the nation has known thus far and will without a doubt outstrip Obama.

My, My, My

I agree it is a sellers market, and prices command MSRP or close to it. However, just like after another school shooting, there are “retailers” and shops that are taking advantage of the situation by attempting to rip folks off by double the price and then some. That is a shame. I get profit, but damn. I get that that they can walk with their feet, but again: Damn.

Hell, Ammo is the same. though I dont own a .380, I was at a location in my AO where a “shop/stand”, whatever, was selling a 100rd value pack of win .380 for $199.99. I had to do a double look.

Panic Buying at its best.

I do know a lot of folks don’t forget the ripper-offers and will never do business with them again. Hope the year of coin was good for a lifetime I guess.

Wow. $2 a round for .380? I thought $1 a round for 10mm FMJ was steep.

Graybeard

Last I checked .45ACP is hovering @ $0.80/rnd, a little lower for steel case.

Although I did find it on the shelf at my store at $0.57/rnd one day. Was able to get two boxes (store limit).

Now if I could make time to go practice…

Commissar

See? Democrat administrations have consistently been very good at promoting gun ownership.

I do not think it means what you think it means.

Back in 2018 i was watching the Kavanaugh hearings and loading 550 .223 rounds for stocking up. Probably not a good combination what with trying to hold specs what with trimming cases, measuring powder, etc. while getting thoroughly pissed at the Dems and their side show, but all 550 rounds made it thru the process in good shape. (grin)

I call them my “Kavanaugh rounds”. Cost me about 17 cents a round for a total of about $93.00.
Now, jeeezzz, worth around $550.00 plus.

Glad I stockpiled supplies & rounds back then (for the gun that got swept up in a tornado, never to be seen again).

Yeah, I wanted to learn to reload but now I see no point. After going sailing with my guns and dumping the boat over…guess I should have remembered steel does not float, I thought at least the polymer ones would!
Too bad none were stainless steel, maybe I could have salvaged them. I did learn to scuba dive.

KoB

Plenty of gunz available…cheap. Just start dredging all the flooded lakes and quicksand bogs.

You could prolly make a good living selling boat patch kits and flotation devices for gunz.

Poetrooper

Ol’ Poe’s wondering just how many of those liberal gun buyers are turning themselves into potential federal felons by denying on form 4473 that they use federally illegal marijuana? 🤔🤔🤔

Someone who lives close to me but I’m not turning him in. He’s a good guy and a neighbor and I’m not a rat.

More and more Americans are becoming Gun Owners while Senile Joe and his minions go full throttle anti-gun…

I say never interrupt an adversary while they’re cutting their own throats!

So, if’n ya gotta pay full price anyway, now seems like a great time to support your local gun shop. The one nearest my home makes very excellent deals (so I’ve been told) on everything they sell, including ammo and leather accessories. Good to know if I ever decide it’s time to develop an arsenal.

11B-Mailclerk

According to local broadcast news, some police departments are now having trouble buying ammunition.

Are people replacing living room furniture with couch-shaped piles of ammunition covered with a blanket? Piles for a dinner table?

This is beyond weird.
