Biden to leave troops in Afghanistan past 1 May deadline
Biden says he “can’t picture” them there in 2022 though. If that kind of talk from Ol’ Joe sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
In 2010, when he was Vice President, Biden said, “We’re starting [pulling the troops out of Afghanistan] in July of 2011, and we’re going to be totally out of there, come hell or high water, by 2014.” In 2012 he again pinned 2014 as the end date. Speaking in absolutes, Biden said “We are leaving in 2014, period.”
Well…surprise, surprise 2014 came to pass and the O’Biden-Bama Administration kept thousands of American troops there. Last year Trump negotiated a peace deal that pulled troops out of Afghanistan and set a hard date to GTFO of 1 May, but now with the old gang back in Washington, the Harris Administration is just gonna keep that war rolling.
Twenty freaking years now. Again, for perspective, 20 years is usually the time of peace between our wars, not the length of wars.
