Deja Vu All Over Again

An article from Conservative Treehouse says: military is being positioned to become politicized.

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2021/03/15/whats-going-on-with-u-s-military-and-democrat-politicization-of-the-institution/

I do not normally read materials that seem to border on paranoia. There is only opinion in that article, not proof that actually anyone did anything wrong. Vindman went down a rabbit hole and has not been heard from since. And where is the CT’s source for his statement about Pelosi, anyway? Unfortunately, no backup for the accusatory statements is provided by the author of that article, no source provided – in short, nothing. It appears on the surface to either be hearsay or made up out of whole cloth. Were it not for the sidebar with Sen. Cruz’s objections and complaints, I would not waste my time on it.

The author asks if this could violate the Posse Comitatus Act; possibly, but only if the military were told to use force against the populace in general. Please remember that when the Feebies wanted the National Guard to invade the Branch Davidians compound in Texas and use force, including a tank, they refused to do so. The Feebies had to drive the tank themselves. That was Janet Reno’s famous stupidity, during the Clinton administration.

From the Conservative Treehouse article comes this:  Fast forward to 2021 and now a very political military officer, (Retired Lieutenant) General Russel Honore’, is appointed by Nancy Pelosi to be in charge of the military deployment around Washington DC.  When you consider the political ramifications of the military supporting a false narrative, this is more than just another data-point.

The increased frequency of the military being politicized is what leads me to believe this phase is all just a public relations pre-positioning.  I fully expect to see the standing U.S. military deployed against any state who stands up against unconstitutional federal demands… the likely origination point will be federal COVID mandates. – article

The real question is this: Pelosi has no business telling any military official to deploy or assess anything anywhere, but according to the CT article author, she is said to have done just that. At this point, that is supposed to come from Biden and after him, Harris. So just who does Pelosi think she is? And why is this happening now? Did she not dare get caught acting out of line when Trump was in charge?

In reading the CT article sidebar, it is plain that Ted Cruz’s angst about the criticism of Tucker Carlson, and Cruz’s suspicions about using the National Guard to “defend the Capitol” had something to do with this.

There is more to this than meets the eye. Just waiting for it to surface, like those bits of empty shell and unsoaked beans you find when you soak a pack of dry beans to cook them.

Just what the hell is going on here?

Well, I did my due diligence on this subject matter, and found that Pelosi did, indeed, task retired Lt. Gen.  Honoré with leading a review of the Capitol’s security. This was, in fact, done in January.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/pelosi-tasks-retired-lt-gen-russel-honor-leading-review-capitol-n1254421

In my view, this is presumptuous on Pelosi’s part, as that is really the job of the Capitol police department, and also indicates she is jumping the gun. The NG should be told ‘pack up and go home now’. There is no longer a need for their presence, and like some of you, I would be happy to see some Congress critters confined to their homes and told not to surface again until the Covid19 scare is over.

From the article:  Honoré has been outspoken about the attack on Twitter, saying on the day of the breach that it was a “sh– show.”

He also wrote on Twitter that to “prevent the miscommunication that resulted in the lack of adequate security at the Capitol,” an overarching office be created for the capital region. The office would be responsible for safety and security in the area and would coordinate the agencies that protect the government and Washington, D.C.

Russel L. Honore’

@ltgrusselhonore

For the record I served on the joint chief of staff as deputy J3 operations, my job was military support to civil authority. I generally know how this shit supposed to happen today secure the Capital. This was a shit show today the @CapitalpoliceLS were on their Ass @11thHour – end

Frankly, when faced with this kind of thing, it is best to view it all with a very jaundiced eye, as if you were being presented with a 1965 Pontiac Firebird with ‘no rust, guaranteed” and then you look underneath and see what’s really there. Do the due diligence yourself and do NOT accept gossip or rumors or even the slightest innuendo about such things. Get below the surface. Dig deeper. Then you have something to back up your argument if you want to successfully deflate rumormongers.

What Honore is suggesting is another “department”, when the business of protecting the Capitol and the city of Washington, DC, is the job of the WDC police. After all, if you recall your history when real history was taught in schools, the Brits invaded their prior colonies in the early 19th century in an attempt to retake what they had lost, set fire to government buildings and stole a lot of stuff, and were subsequently sent packing by the newly-minted US Army. That was the same military action that sent the Brits to New Orleans to take that back, and lost the fight under Andrew Jackson.

I realize that Ted Cruz means well. I also find that Pelosi is, as usual, being a presumptuous bimp, assuming authority that she does not actually have. If Harris had asked LTG Honoré to do what Pelosi wanted done, I would be fine with it. That really is Harris’s job as Veep, isn’t it? Why is she not mentioned in any of this? It seems that Ms. Harris is fast becoming a token, a Veep-in-name-only.

This assessment was done in January, shortly after the planned riot. It is now March and the news from Cruz is that he’s pissed off because Tucker Carlson criticized this whole business, which he does as a reporter, and got slammed for it, when getting slammed for something he reports is part of Tucker’s job.

Stock up on popcorn and other treats, keep the drinks in cold water, and stay tuned. I believe there is far more to come on this and that Pelosi, who is becoming physically feeble (can’t manage her precious gavel), is having her last hurrah.

We basically need to do a FOD walk thru the halls of the Kongress Klown Kritters.

‘stead of popcorn, snacky stuff and cold drinks, pass out tar, feathers, torches, pitchforks, and rope.

Yea, we have to get all the villages extras from the Frankenstein movie even if we have to dig them out of their graves to get things AJ Squared Away. Your not included Mr Karloff, sorry about that.

Speaking of Vindman, ninja sent word that the other Vindman has been selected to get his eagles.

I was looking for a way to work these in and your mention of the now-retired Vindman seems like as good a place as any. 😀

I would dance and piss on Pelosi’s grave just as much as I would “Hanoi Jane” Fonda’s.

I’d hold your beer. And I’d promise not to take a sip…That you know of. 😀

There’s a number of ‘celebrities’ that are going to need the Ghengis Khan treatment to not have their graves utterly decimated by dancing and erosion.

I see that General Honore is a native son of Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. Well it just so happens that ol’ Poe is an honorary citizen of the parish seat, the small city of New Roads, an honor bestowed on him as a young Airborne buck sergeant, compliments of notorious Congressman F. Edward (Eddie) Hebert, a notably powerful member of the House Committee on Armed Services as it was known at the time, back there in 1965 just before all hell broke loose in Vietnam.

Methinks General Honore may have a huge racial chip on his shoulder due to the way the white citizens of Pointe Coupee Parish treated black folks back in those days. You would have thought that by being half-white and rising to the rank of Lieutenant General he might have put those racial issues aside.

But then, Lloyd Austin rose one star higher than Honore and it appears he still has a big racial chip resting upon the shoulder that bore those four stars, hmm?

Ol Poe thinks that the biggest mistake white Americans have ever made is underestimating how deep the racial resentment goes, even in blacks who make it to the top, and we are going to pay a steep price for our lack of discernment.

Resentment.

Universal. But some folks rise above it, and turn to gratitude. Others wallow in resentment and use it as a cheap and easy self-definition. No real work required, just hate.

In the case of Generals, do most of them have any real ethos or motivation beyond “What does the boss want me to express, that keeps me in the job or gets me the next one?”

Watching long-service General/Admiral ranks shift seamlessly between administrations does suggest a certain moral ambidextrousness.

Good perspective, PH. Still, a couple of nits to pick.

First, security of the Capitol complex IS indeed the Speaker’s responsibility. When all this began somebody posted a link to an appropriate source doc. (I’m too lazy to try to find it at the moment.)

Second, WDC Police are NOT responsible for security on any of the federal lands in the area. Sure, they back up whatever agency is responsible for whatever building, block or acreage needs their assistance. On request, of course, with them supplying a support role to the primary agency. Yes, it gets very confusing.

Not sure about this, but can almost agree with Honore on somebody needing to oversee it all. Groups wanting to hold a rally, for instance, can find themselves in permit purgatory trying to deal with the various jurisdictions. Will withhold complete agreement with him just because, and since adding another level of bureaucracy never seems to simplify things.

Would this be a good place to admit to wondering how many times a day Piglosy ponders just what it would take for her to become prez? My guess is that it happens with frequency.
