SecDef Austin extends D.C. deployment through May 23rd for 2,300 National Guardsmen

| March 10, 2021

Step one in a perpetual deployment is to always slide back that date you’re going home. Optimally, if you’re a general officer, do it just days before you’re set to get your troops into the planes home. This maximizes the level of “suck” your men and women will experience, thus making them hardier war fighters. In a few years when none of them re-enlist you blame it on society, racism, or the economy. It has nothing whatsoever to do with your last minute extensions of a pointless mission.

So it was that the powers that be decided just two days before the end of the current deployment to extend the militarization of Washington D.C. for another two and a half months. They are cutting the number of troops from about 5,000 to 2,300, and they got those fancy ribbons coming their way. As we talked about a few days ago, it’s very likely given the current leadership in D.C. that we will have a permanent “security” force of armed military personnel in D.C.

Jeff LPH 3 sends in this Military Times report;

An extension of the National Guard deployment at the U.S. Capitol has been approved through May 23.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved the request late Tuesday for nearly 2,300 Guard troops continue to provide security in Washington, D.C., at the request of the Capitol Police, amid worries about continued threats. Officials have been scrambling in recent days to determine if and how to fill the request for more than 2,000 Guard forces, as the original March 12 deadline for them to leave Washington looms.

The 2,300 figure is nearly a 50 percent reduction of the current support force, according to a Pentagon press release. DoD officials will work with U.S. Capitol Police to incrementally reduce the Guard footprint as conditions allows, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said in the release.

The decision underscores concerns about the ongoing threat of violence at the Capitol, two months after rioters breached the building in violence that left five people dead. Law enforcement have remained in a heightened security posture in response to intelligence suggesting possible threats to the Capitol by militia groups.

This is lazy, inaccurate reporting at best and intentionally misguiding at worst. The “violence” left one dead. The woman who got shot breaching some inner sanctum inside the capitol.

This is not going to end well.

Unprecedented in our history. Or, at least, our history says such things are not good.

Fort Pee-lousy is not going anywhere. The extended time frame gives them more time to do background checks to make sure that they have the troops from blue states swearing their loyalty to the regime. I don’t think that NG Troops join the NG to make a career out of it. Most of them have other, day jobs, and not too many companies will continue to pay them for not being on the job. I think Federal Laws dictates that they have to keep their position open to them while deployed, but we all know how that plays out. FIRST chance the company gets, upon return, they will ease that person out for “reasons”. And how many will want to stay, knowing that this “threat” is a manufactured pile of Bovine Excrement.

I’m sure the DNC’s propaganda machine over at CNN/MSNBC/ect…ect will cook up up a “threat against Drunk-Ass Nancy” as reason to start quartering troops at all “vital leadership” residences before the summer is over. Not like they would deploy troops to protect lives, property, and businesses. Fuq all these D’s and the people that voted for them.

Again, I ask; can the governor recall his NG troops, federalized or not?
I’d love to see that happen, all the NG troops quietly recalled & vanish back home………leaving the fenced in enclave silent and still, without any Praetorian Guards at all.

It depends on what status they are deployed under. A Governor and his/her TAg may be able to recall them.

They may also be able to rotate them with a replacement.

Where are the being billetted and fed.

Has 100% of the DC Guard been called up? If not why not.

Sleepy Uncle Joe: ‘Who’s Lloyd Austin?’. Not a joke, folks. God love ya.

Are the getting out of the parking garage at least?

And are they still being fed shit food?

Creeping closer and closer to having the deployed troops qualify for a full blown medal instead of a newly created “ribbon”.

A few that come to mind are: Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, or Army of Occupation Medal w/Capitol Device.

So between 2300 and 5000 NG troops to add to the already extant 4262 LEO in DC (per a quick lazy Wiki search) – that’s gonna put folks involved in ‘law enforcement’ over 1000 per 100,000 inhabitants, or 1% of the total. I guess the pertinent ratio is how many politicians, street thugs, gang bangers, and other criminal types balance that out?

Sparks

Odd though, with all the LEO and NG the crime rate in DC is still the same.

rgr769

That is because dozing on the floors of the Capitol building or strolling the barricades is hardly law enforcement.

JURASSICHM

I honestly believe that the Democrats are literally praying for another incident in DC. Gives them more bogus justification to try and stifle any political opposition and further trample on people’s rights.

I guess the two battalions of the 3rd Inf. at Ft. Myers don’t count. Not to mention the odds and sods of other active duty forces in the MDW (Military District of Washington). And, of course, the various reserve and guard units in and around DC.

Sounds like another BlueAnon insurrection conspiracy is about to drop

What would happen if a large crowd gathers and starts tearing
down that chickien wire fence? Would the NG start shooting them?
Might be time for a real insurrection. I hope not but I can see one
coming if they keep up this charade.

11B-Mailclerk

That would likely convince them to take off the gloves and go whole hog on suppressing the insurrection by military force.

They are counting on someone doing so.

The designated “Trump supporters” need a crowd from which to act again. No doubt they are frustrated no Trump Supporters, or anyone else, are providing that crowd.

Hondo

I said this previously on another thread, but it bears repeating: those who are apparently hell-bent on setting up a modern-day US Praetorian Guard would do well to remember the fate of numerous Emperors whose reign ended prematurely when the leadership of the Praetorian Guard no longer wished to follow them.

11B-Mailclerk

That was different. This time the correct people have self-selected themselves to rule, so everything will work out properly if we just obey their orders.
