JFK Assassination Revisited

| February 23, 2021

Former Ambassador and CIA Director R. James Woolsey teamed up with LTG Ion Mihai Pacepa, a former acting chief of Communist Romania’s Serviciul Român de Informaii (SRI) and produced “Operation Dragon: Inside The Kremlin’s Secret War on America.” In the book they claim that Lee Harvey Oswald was a Soviet spy, recruited while a Marine stationed in Japan. They state he was trained by the KGB to commit the assassination of President Kennedy, and that he continued on task even after being ordered to stand down.

Lee Harvey Oswald ordered to kill JFK by Soviets, ex-CIA chief claims

By Larry Getlen

Lee Harvey Oswald was a KGB associate who was personally instructed by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev to assassinate President Kennedy. Sometime shortly thereafter, the Soviets changed their minds, and Oswald was told to drop the plan. But Oswald, harboring a blinding love for all things USSR, refused.

A new book by two former intelligence chiefs — one from the west, one from the east — tosses this tale on the voluminous pile of JFK assassination theories.

“Operation Dragon: Inside The Kremlin’s Secret War on America,” (Encounter Books), was written by Ambassador R. James Woolsey, who ran the CIA from 1993-1995 (and who, ironically, resigned abruptly during the scandal over Aldrich Ames, a CIA officer turned Russian double agent), and Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, a former acting chief of Communist Romania’s espionage service and the “highest-ranking intelligence official from an enemy country ever granted political asylum in the United States” (Pacepa died of COVID earlier this month).

The authors claim that all the evidence needed to make their case is contained in the 26-volume Warren Commission Report, but that so much of it is “codified” that no one understood its significance until now.

Oswald’s Russian connection is well known, defecting there in 1959. But was Oswald a Soviet operative in Dallas tha day? Read the rest of the article here: NY Post
Thanks, LC.

“But was Oswald a Soviet operative in Dallas tha day?”

Ask Jack Ruby.

KoB

“Ask Jack Ruby.” He’s dead, Jim.

Oswald was the fall guy AND the patsy.

The death of Kennedy was the true beginning of the Deep State that we have running our grubermint today. And if you think that LBJ’s skirts are clean in this matter, then I’ve got a Fake Silver Star Award to sell you.

JFK had lot’s of enemies besides the Soviets.
Many of them domestic.

Hondo

JFK also had an enemy in Cuba. And due to Mongoose, that enemy in Cuba had good reason to try and take him out.

I doubt the KGB had anything to do with JFK’s assassination. The DGI, on the other hand, . . . well, they just might have.

USMC Steve

That could indeed be the result of screwing other people’s wives and stuff. Tends to piss folks off righteously.

Bim

Personally ordered to kill JFK by none other than Khrushchev himself? That sounds like something these Stolen Valor morons would say.

I don’t believe a word of it. Soviets were smart enough to understand what plausible deniability is.

LC

I don’t believe a word of it. Soviets were smart enough to understand what plausible deniability is.

I can understand that perspective.. but they also know a ‘true believer’ when they see one.  The best way to motivate an ideological fanatic is via a direct representative of the cause they’re fanatical about.  None better than Khrushchev in this case.

I maintain some skepticism, but can’t deny the very real possibility.

The Other Whitey

There’s no way that Khrushchev ever met Oswald face-to-face and told him to shoot Kennedy. Oswald may have been the shooter, and Khrushchev may have greenlit the hit (and those are both “ifs” at best), but the bolshevik bastards were far too careful to allow any kind of direct link like that.

Penguinman000

Aside from the ridiculous premise you mentioned, there is no way Woolsey would’ve been approved to discuss anything even remotely resembling the truth on this subject by the publication review board.

I’m throwing a BS flag on the play.

LC

Not exactly. Woolsey wouldn’t be approved to talk about any sources, methods or classified reports that CIA has on the matter, but he’s arguing (apparently, I’ve not yet read the actual book) that it’s all laid out in public findings when you know what to look for.

Per above, I maintain some skepticism, but it’s always worth hearing what he has to say.

timactual

“when you know what to look for.”

Yep. Just like every wacko in human history. Conspiracy first, (selective)evidence later.

The Other Whitey

Depends on what they mean by “personally ordered.” If they mean an actual face-to-face exchange, yeah, no way in hell. The Russkies would have layer upon layer of cutouts and third-parties for something like that, though Oswald certainly fit the “disposable triggerman” category. They learned their lesson after Tito caught the latest of Stalin’s guys in Sarajevo and threatened to send one of his own to Moscow in return.

If that’s there overly-dramatic way of saying that Khrushchev greenlit the operation, then maybe. But only maybe.

Oswald may have shot Kennedy, but I don’t believe for a second that he acted independently if so. Honestly though, I doubt we’ll ever know who was pulling which strings in Dallas that day.

rgr769

I haven’t read the book, but I’ll bet it says that Oswald was told to stand down/abort when he went to Mexico City and visited the Soviet emabassy.

OWB

It was a very interesting time. With some more than interesting players.

Was accidently introduced to a couple of minor minions decades ago who were on task to see that the questions never stopped being asked. Looks like they have so far been successful.

Hmm, what about the entry hole going into the front windshield of the car and the “hair” transplant to cover the exit wound in the back of JFK’S head for the public but the actual morgue photos sort of dissapeared, and the Navy Doctor at the morgue was hustled away so who fired a shot from the rear?? was it the secret service agent who discharged his weapon when he heard the first shot. People on the ground said that they smelled gun powder. Lots of info was on the people that killed JFK on the history channel which recently came out with new info. Big cover up on the hearings. I was in Boot Camp on Nov. 22, 1963.

The Dead Man

Not trying to be mean man, but I’d avoid citing the History Channel for anything, but cancellation at this point. Their utter contempt for history hasn’t done anyone favors.

rgr769

When it comes to actual history, the History Channel is an oxymoron.

USMC Steve

You mean the Dinosaur and Aliens Channel?

11B-Mailclerk

Didn’t they used to be the Hitler channel?

I have listened to many theories over the decades. Most I can stop listening to quickly when I know who is speaking and hear the absurdity of their opinions. The same with videos and documentaries floated from the ’60s until now. Especially with the advent of YouTube and the like.

Personally, no, I do not believe Oswald was the assassin. Though he may have fired a shot for the purpose of the crowd’s response.

I think the most plausible theories are 1. JFK was shot accidentally by the Secret Service agent in the car behind, or 2. He was killed by collaborators for any one of several reasons.

My only issue at this point in history and my life is there are still many documents unreleased through the FOIA process. President Trump said he would make the JFK files public but it seems after review or briefing, he decided not to release anything of note.

This is when I can’t say ‘time will tell’. Because it very well may not.

IMHO

Poetrooper

The Kennedy’s, father Joe, President John and Attorney General Bobby had pissed off so many people, including the Russians, the Cubans and the Mob, that Oswald probably had to wait his turn to take his shot.

FWIW, ol’ Poe is inclined to put his money on the Mob with whom Joe had a long, contentious association and whom John and Bobby double-crossed and triple-crossed after Sam Giancana pulled off a “Chicago miracle” in 1960 that elected Kennedy, much as our 2020 late-night miracle elected Biden.

The Cuban involvement dovetails nicely with the Mob as the wiseguys were eager to reestablish all their lucrative operations in Cuba, lost when Castro ran them out and were therefore working with the CIA to destabilize the Castro regime. Kennedy’s failure of nerve at the Bay of Pigs not only infuriated the anti-Castro Cuban community, but also the Mob, who saw it as yet another Kennedy betrayal.

Additionally, there is simply no other reason for Ruby to have killed Oswald. Ruby was a low-level, mobbed-up, petty operator who had no reason in the world to do what he did other than being ordered to do so in order to take the unpredictable and uncontrollable Oswald off the board.

The Warren Commission whitewash was to keep the public from learning how intertwined the Kennedy family and administration were with organized crime. Not to say that both the Russians and Castro weren’t happy with the results, but after many years of reading and researching the topic, ol’ Poe still thinks it was double-crossing the Mob that got Kennedy assassinated.

Sparks

Good points Poe. I have heard and read about the mod and Cuban angles for a long time but you put it succinctly.

Hondo

I tend to disbelieve the “the Mafia killed JFK” theory for one reason, Poe: it would have been hugely bad for business if discovered. The Mafia was already getting major heat from the Justice Department, and discovery that they’d been involved might have raised the temp to intolerable levels and possibly put them out of business entirely. For a different reason, I also disbelieve the “the CIA/’deep state’ did it” thesis. Do you really think every US individual with insider knowledge of this would have kept their yap shut for nearly 60 years? I don’t; I’ve seen too much stuff in the media that I knew from my duties to be TS or compartmented. Someone in the know eventually blabs. We Americans can’t keep our mouths shut. What I think happened was that Castro learned that JFK and RFK were trying to take him out, and decided to respond in kind. I don’t think the Soviets were involved directly – hell, Castro was p!ssed as hell when he found out he’d been sold out by Khrushchev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and only decided to stay allied with the Soviets because he found the alternative (making “nice” with the US) even more an affront to his dignidad and honor. What I think happened was that the DGI got wind of Oswald – perhaps due to info it received from the Soviets, perhaps not; Oswald also was a pro-Cuba activist, so they could have gotten wind of him that way. I think they then took a chance and “played” Oswald like a violin in the hope that he’d pan out, and got lucky. The Mafia might or might not have provided minor assistance (Trafficante was reportedly a Castro fan and is known to have supplied Castro with arms during the Cuban Revolution), but I seriously doubt they were involved directly in the assassination. And when I say “got lucky” above, I mean that literally. I’m fairly sure Oswald and not a professional assassin was the shooter. Forensic evidence indicates that at least 3 shots – and likely precisely three – were… Read more »

He was all about green bitches before Captain Kirk ever was…

Ask the folks in the business of guarding heads of state. The successful assassins are almost entirely one of two things:

Bodyguards

Lunatics

Note the track record of the USA for dead and almost-dead. Nuts.

The nut gets through, -because- they are crazy. It is hard to predict them, and a cast-iron bitch to stop them. They don’t understand “improbable”, so they do it.

Oswald was a nut.
