Homeless put into shelters with an uncanny resemblance to a prison

| February 19, 2021

Trump was a war criminal when he sent illegal aliens to holding facilities, but the bleeding hearts in the Minneapolis-area have come up with the above pictured shelter. While the above picture could easily come from any number of holding facilities at the border or from any minimum security prison, that’s not the case.

What you’re looking at is a warehouse with 100 individual units that they hope to fill with homeless people. The rooms are small, just like prison. The rooms are to be equipped with a bed and a chair, like prison. The rooms have locking steel doors, there’s a shared toilet, and community showers. Just like a summer prison camp. I assume the homeless will be able to leave of their own accord, so they got that going for them. Which is nice.

Check out the video tour puff piece from the local CBS affiliate. I’m not familiar with Avivo, but according to their audited annual report, they receive 61% of their funds from taxpayers.

I’m also concerned about just how terrible that place is going to smell.

It’s ok when the (D)’s do it… it’s “humane”.

When an (R) does it… IMPOTENT RAGE!!!!

JacktheJarhead

You beat me to it Chief! Ok for them to do it. Ok for Me but not for Thee!

When is Sandy A-dum-e-yo-Cortez going to show up and pose for an anguishing picture of the parking lot?

cobrakai99

Reminds me of Camp As Sayliyah. Cans in warehouses.

SFC D

I was thinking Camp Doha, Kuwait.

OWB

Beyond bizarre.

Eat the bugs, live in the pod, the government knows best.

“Soylent Green again? If you keep feeding us this shit, I just might get off my ass, get a job, and support myself. Then you’ll be out of work.”

How many registered sex offenders do you think will be hanging their hat at Casa De Typhoid?

A Proud Infidel®™

C’mon now Hack Stone, JUST how many of those peace-loving homeless could also be knowingly carrying the China Virus as well, we haven’t heard much about it permeating the homeless population!

Only if it’s ethanol.

A Proud Infidel®™

AWW GEE WHIZ Hack Stone, you beat me to it. And AS TO cleanliness, I bet they’ll treat that place to snooze like they earned it!

Yeppers, blurb on the local news from the little big town up the road. Building a similar facility there using recycled overseas shipping containers. TV reporter was gushing, “…and it won’t cost the local taxpayers hardly anything, it’s coming from a Federal Grant…”

Speaking of the little big town, I gots to head in that direction sometime today on a provision run. Don’t forget it’s Friday, and somebody needs to give Chippy a little competition on the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread FIRST! You have a prime opportunity today, I may not be around on the ‘net, and he may be distracted over the pictures from Mars. Good Luck!

KoB If you’re going to the RAFB Commissary be sure and wear your mask coming through the Gate.

The repurposed shipping containers look like those tiny homes but will have issues with zoning laws.

Haven’t been even attempting to get on main base in years. Way yonder too much of a hassle and requires being “nekkid” (unarmed). I remember the good old days when there was nothing there but SAC Bombers loaded with nukes and it was easier to get on and off. The hoop jumping got so bad that Ma Bell moved the DeMark points from on Base to a Manhole run @ Watson just so the techs wouldn’t have to waste 1/2 a day getting in to run trouble calls. Some kind of contract deal where the feds had their own little phone company handling on Base issues. We switched most of the feeds to fiber from the redundant copper lines several years back.

Macongo has already addressed the zoning issues and told the surrounding ‘hoods, “tuff luck, we’re doing this”! Too much grubermint $ on the table. I could go on and on. The downward spiral of both of those towns is what keeps pushing me further and further away from them. Ma Bell spent a bloody fortune on stringing fiber optic cables thru some of the worst hoods in those places for high speed low drag inherwebz services. The FAPs (Fiber Access Points) Terminals are sitting there, idle, with no drops attached going to the vacant/burned out lots. Yet in the areas where there are people that would sign up for their services you get a recording “…not available in your area…”

Will there be a secure parking lot at the facility so that the residents will have somewhere to park their shopping carts of worldly possessions?

QMC

These are the same idiots in Minneapolis that thought it was a good idea to get rid of the Police Department.

A Proud Infidel®™

Yeah, and as soon as they did that, the place turned into a utopia almost as wonderful as say, Chicago!

Ex-PH2

Excellent presentation, Mason. Clear as glass, and progressively informative.

Also quite giggle-worthy.

The most amusing part of this self inflicted wound is the fact they aren’t going to get any laterals or new applicants of quality for years due to their own stupidity.

They’ve intentionally set themselves up to attract the worst possible candidates for policing.

Lowest common denominators wearing a badge + sky rocketing crime rate=cluster.

It’s going to take them years to unwind the damage they’ve done to themselves.

QMC

Give it a few years and that diagram will come full circle all over again.

In my AO when the Chinese virus hit and the shelters were closed, the former residents of said shelter were put in hotels. On quarantine. On lockdown. That last part didn’t take particularly when the weather was good.

Local social service agencies are bragging there was one, ONE case of the Chi-virus in that population among a grand total (as of this month) of more than 175 heartbeats housed.

What they don’t talk about so much is the cost.

The hotels were empty due to no one traveling, so the hotel group that “offered” the space ga e a great deal. Rooms that normally go for $100-$125 a night for $80. Do the math.

Not surprisingly, we are now dealing with many coming from different areas/counties, even a couple from out of state, seeking “shelter assistance”.

But it’s all free because it is Federal gubmint money.

OWB

This system does make a bit more sense than using hotels. At least these pods can be thrown away as they are used up. Just stack ’em and toss ’em.

Still, goofy as can be. Meanwhile, aren’t a bunch of emergency crews trying to restore power across the country now sleeping in tents? Or something. Should be OK as long as they wear their masks.

Ex-PH2

They can be recycled, too, can’t they? They could be shipped to Portland and San Fran for the unhoused to use in chilly-ish weather.

Hondo

Recycled? Dunno about that Ex-PH2.

After they’ve been used/abused/deficated in/urinated on/God only knows what else by the “residents” for a few weeks, I’m thinking it would take a harsh enough solution to dissolve the metal frames (and everything else attached to them) to disinfect those containers enough to make them safe for re-use.

Forest Bondurant

They need to make sure they provide free WiFi, or someone is going to complain about the deplorable conditions.

George Lucas made a movie like this…

Hack Stone

On the plus side, since their food and shelter requirements are being met by the local government, with a huge infusion of federal money, they will no longer find it necessary to stand on street corners with cardboard signs reading “Homeless and Hungry. Please Help. God Bless.”

Green Thumb

All-Points Logistics needs to get in on this contract.

Hack Stone

They can find their next executive for their Reston office among those residents. They are meet the requirements to be considered All Points Logistics material.

Just An Old Dog

I’ll say it again,,,, our Homeless Problem is due to Substance abuse and Mental Illness. Providing Basic Needs ( Food Clothing, and Shelter) on the taxpayers dime is doing nothing but allowing Addicts to continue their downward spiral to death, just in a place with a roof that they will quickly turn into a dangerous shithole.
They will just use it a base of operations to continue feeding there addictions. They will continue to infest the streets, doing whatever criminal acts they need to to feed the monkey on their back.
The Police can only do so much.
These Addicts need to be locked the fuck up in Rehab facilities where the focus is on isolating them and helping them beat addiction.. then making them productive members of society. Not a stand prison but a place for Addicts to get the tough love and treatment that they need.

HMCS(FMF) ret

They won’t get that when you have the (D)’s running local, state and national governments. The only thing the (D)’s want to to keep people of all colors “on the plantation” and they’ll do it by any means possible, including allowing the homeless to roam the streets.

A Proud Infidel®™

“These Addicts need to be locked the fuck up in Rehab facilities where the focus is on isolating them and helping them beat addiction.. then making them productive members of society. Not a stand prison but a place for Addicts to get the tough love and treatment that they need.”

You mean like the Mental Hospitals that the bleeding heart moonbats had closed down in the 60’s and 70’s, thus forcing the addicted and mentally ill out on the streets?

OWB

Yep. That was perhaps the most heartless thing I’ve witnessed coming from the left. It was a real teaching moment when they revealed themselves as the unthinking, uncaring agenda driven fools that they are.

Ranking right up there during the same timeframe was the closing of orphanages. In both cases, the goobermint systems exploded as actual care for those least able to care for themselves tanked.
