What do you do if you expect an insurrection and nobody shows up?

| January 21, 2021

The most voted for President in American history really draws a crowd

There aren’t a lot of photos of the crowd that showed up for Biden’s inauguration yesterday. That’s because there wasn’t much of a crowd. People joked that they were deploying tens of thousands of troops and law enforcement to help fill out the audience. Turns out they outnumbered the attendees by about 50-to-1. I mean, just look at poor Bernie here all alone. They should have gotten a few national guardsmen to at least cuddle the poor old socialist.

Anywho, when you’ve been planning for two weeks for there to be 74 million angry “Q d’eTwat dipshits” (h/t to Commissar) to show up and overthrow the country and install the worlds worst dictator, what do you do if nobody shows up? If you’re Army Times you write the puffiest puff piece of all time. It even includes some gung ho, Army is great quotes from an E-4.

The National Guard had a quiet day in DC standing post against threats they helped prevent

It was a quiet day for the roughly 25,000 members of the National Guard sent to defend Washington against a potential second insurrection attempt during President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

It was “uneventful,” Lt. Col. Marshall Hunt — who commanded some 300 National Guard members from New York stationed at the Supreme Court and Library of Congress — told Military Times.

“Uneventful equals success for us,” he added.

What say the E-4 mafia on being ordered across the country to sleep in the halls of Congress?

“It was a really really cool experience, I love doing Army type things, especially something as important as this, so I was really willing to drop everything and come here,” Spc. Robert Coonan, who has been in Washington since Jan. 8 said.

You gotta dig deep into the article for the mention of the political purge that can now begin in earnest with our new pre-pubescent girl sniffing overlord in office.

As steel fences and concreate [sic] barriers, manned by members of the National Guard went up all around Washington, the FBI warned of a potential insider attack at the Capitol.

Ultimately 12 members of the National Guard were flagged during a background check and sent back home.

Two of those removed from their posts were flagged for “inappropriate comments or texts,” Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the Nation Guard Bureau, told reporters on Tuesday.

If they only found 12 people making inappropriate comments in a deployment of 25,000, they weren’t looking very hard.

After nearly a year of constant riots, they’ve finally realized that overwhelming shows of force can work. It’ll be interesting to see if they do this against leftist rioters or if it’s only when the right wing folks get uppity do they call in more manpower than was needed to invade a South Pacific island held by fanatical, battle hardened Japanese troops.

Thanks to Jeff LPH 3 for sending in the tip.

And the Army occupying ribbon will be issued?

Green Thumb

Interesting point.

Curious if HG higher attempts to create and authorize a DC Inauguration Ribbon.

Would not surprise me.

If they do, it should go to MDW as well.

Fm2176

Hey, I’m all for it, except MDW is under JTF-NCR at the moment, so everyone assigned or attached to the latter should receive the prestigious DCIR.

In fact, why sell it short? It should be a full blown medal. The DCIM, with an arrowhead device for those of us who weathered the “peaceful protests” last May-June…

Green Thumb

That’s funny!

And you get an oak leaf for every four years that you do an Inauguration.

I remember back in the day when some of those old school NCOs would do a hitch in TOG and then do Korea. Take hardship and get assignment of choice! Back to TOG!

rgr769

What is TOG? I am not up to speed on the latest acronyms.

Claw

TOG = The Old Guard.

timactual

Which is the hardship post? I was not at either, and it has been quite a while, but if I had my ‘druthers I think I would choose to be assigned to Korea.

Green Thumb

Back in the day (and it still may be that way), do a one-year unaccompanied hitch in Korea and get duty assignment of choice (along as you were qualified).

rgr769

Does DCIR equal District of Criminals Insurrection Ribbon?

Claw

My bet is the Army of Occupation Medal will be reactivated. After all, it was still be being issued to troops in Berlin up until 1990./s

Topski

Hey Claw easy on AOM, was my ticket into the VFW back in the 80’s since it was one of the few ways a peacetime soldier could join.

The MDW clasp should look like a Dildo.

Army of Occupation Medal… Same one I got in Berlin after 30 consecutive days.

Hey, Bernie has become a meme unto himself online. There are Bernie mems all over the place now, ncluding the lunch on a steel beam with the beamjacks in NYC, back in the days of building real skyscrapers. He’s sitting there with the rest of the real laborers, mittens and all. Maybe they even shared a crust of bread with him….

NHSparky

The one of him on the beach with Chris Christie is pure gold.

Ex-PH2

Maybe you can ‘splain to me, KoB, why Harris being Veep is SO important these people are nearly drooling on the floor over it, when the REAL FIRST FEMALE RULER was Elizabeth I, daughter of Henry VIII, who brought her country out of the wretched poverty it had seen for decades and into prominence as a world leading country.

Yes, I’m leaving out Joan of Arc, because she was suckered into that, and Cleopatra, because she was only a figurehead and had to do what the (male) priests told her to do.

KoB

Mi’Lady I have scratched my watch and wound my ass over the deifying of her when all the lefties were falling all over themselves. She got to her position in Commiefornia politics doing the very thing that women have tried NOT to have to do to get ahead. (pun intended) She could not garner any votes during the primaries from her own district, dropped out very early, has NO real skilz, is NOT a Black Woman, and should have been tainted with the legacy of slavery. Her Grandpappy beat feet out of Jamaica, with his slaves, to Lousy Anna, her mother was East Indian, and she has lied and stolen life stories from other people, including Dr. King.

Only thing I can figure is we are seeing the culmination of more than 50 years of planning by the Socialists/Marxists to bring down the American Republic. It is pretty much accepted that she was the chosen one of the Cool Black Dude and will do the biddings of her handlers, from Obozo, to Hitlery, to the Salinsky/Soros crowd. Everybody saying take a wait and see attitude til the mid terms or the ’24 elections. Be way yonder too late by then. I’m of the opinion that they will wait til ’22, then 25th A Sniff and then Blow will take over. She will appoint Mooshell as VP (still no female VP) Obozo will be packed onto the SCOTUS, the Military will be headed by hand picked goons, personal weapons will be outlawed, the thought police in full force, and the best investments will be in scoop trucks, riot gear, and Soylent Futures.

I don’t see it quite that way, y’see, because Spendy Joe is quite willing to buy votes by bankrupting this country. He’ll have to borrow from Xi Jinping to pay off the debt load he builds. I give this recession a lifespan of 30 month ahead of us, before he’s told ‘there’s no more money to be had’.

Kamala was placed in this position by the democrats because she is (A) female, and (B) black. Notice that there is nothing about being qualified to serve as VP or (God forbid) President. She checked the two required blocks. If she was as good as the democrats are now claiming, she wouldn’t have failed so miserably in the primaries. A failure that she blamed on “voter racism”. Chew on that. Voter racism within her party was the cause of her failure.

One battalion of Mech Infantry would have been more than sufficient to safeguard the Most Popular Candidate Ever. Two -divisions-? Stupid.

Remember when the Left lost its collective shit over the threat/optics because Trump had a couple of parked armored vehicles at an event?

rgr769

But all those Bradley’s with 25mm canons and machine guns around the Capitol building would have been an unfavorable optic. Although, San Fran Nan wanted .50 cal Brownings set up at key locations, so they could mow down any Trumpsters who showed up to protest Xiden’s installation.

NHSparky

So, question for Dipshit Larsie-boi:

Buncha assholes in Portland, Seattle, and elsewhere threw their regular temper tantrums yesterday, including attempting to set federal buildings (including courthouses) on fire. So are they insurrectionists too?

Asking for a friend.

UpNorth

If they aren’t classed as insurrectionists, are they building a defense for those arrested for their actions in D.C.? After all, they tried to burn down federal buildings.

rgr769

In Seattle and Portland they have tried to burn down federal buildings for months. Most of us have seen the repeated videos. But for federal LEO’s, they would have succeeded. Local LEO’s wouldn’t defend the federal facilities.

Berliner

In Seattle pAntifa Anarchists weren’t satisfied with just federal buildings. They damaged the original Starbucks, a major tourist spot.

Finally. What with the founding fathers themselves believing a two party system would be the death of the country.

JURASSICHM

The Democrat circus is back in town, only with more “diverse” clowns.

justplainjason

I think this is a little like closing the door after the cows got out, but you all aware something happened at the capitol on January 6th?

The president at that time “allegedly” encouraged his stupidest cultists to do something. Maybe this was to ensure a safe and secure transfer of power?

11B-Mailclerk

Or. Maybe you are epically wrong.

One battalion (~1000) was more than sufficient to the mission. Two divisions (~30,000) and a giant razor-wire topped fence was -stupid-. Especially when they decided to prohibit arming the soldiers. (No ammo)

That “no ammo” bit proves they knew there was no real threat.

Stupid theater, and it showed them in their idiocy.

There would not have been an intrusion in the Capital Building if the folks guarding it had kept the doors locked.

They let them in. Proven. -Stupid-.

So this FurorBunker show was all bullshit. They knew it. We know it.

justplainjason

Really? Those videos of people busting out windows and beating to death that capitol cop was all faked? I am so glad that you are here to set me straight.

We already know the Trump Cult really doesn’t give a shit about “blue lives matter” when it gets in the way of their goals. Having the national guard there in support is not a bad thing.

One of the missions of the National Guard is riot and crowd control. You don’t have to be armed to do that.

Doesn’t the army teach fight 3:1 anymore?

11B-Mailclerk

The folks guarding the Capitol let the yahoos in. Proven.

You can’t breach those windows without power tools. Fire Department hand tools won’t do it. You can bash all day, and all you do is make it opaque.

Common “hurricane proof” glass is similar.

It is well documented that the security opened doors. Fact. Deal with it. Had they not done so, that cluster-fuck never would have happened.

That -epic- stupid move cost lives. Congress controlled that security, and it shows.

Dodge that point all you want. Won’t help.

justplainjason

So they beat the capitol police officer to death for funsies?

You really need to get off the conspiracy sites buddy.

And are you okay with that dude being a racist shit?

Poetrooper

justplainjason asked, “Man how did this page fall this far?”

You helped immeasurably…

justplainjason

I’ll take that because I haven’t posted here in a while. You seem to have let a lot of garbage in here. I poke my head in here a couple times in the last month and you have a guy posting racist shit? I can’t imagine what it was like over the last summer.

Poetrooper

And when you do show up, you come in like gangbusters labeling Trump supporters as a cult, like you’re some kind of Lars Light.

Yeah, you own a piece of that fall, pal…

justplainjasonsass

I don’t know what I’m talking about… I get all my info from reddit and other “progressive sites!

11B-Mailclerk

You heard the whistle. You are the dog.

Racist.

justplainjason

I don’t know it was train whistle.

Hondo

So they beat the capitol police officer to death for funsies? No. But you know that, JPJ – just like you know that the unarmed USAF vet who was shot to death by a Capitol policeman while climbing through a broken window wasn’t shot to death for “funsies”. Nor were the other 3 people who died during the riot (one participant trampled, two others who died of a heart attack and stroke likely induced by the riot) killed “for fun”. Nor were the 50-60 injured police and similar number of rioters injured “for fun”. The 6 Jan Capitol storming was a protest that degenerated into a riot. Like in combat, during a riot things get destroyed and people get hurt – and sometimes people get killed. That’s why riots are categorically unlawful, have no constitutional protections as “protest activities”, and have been condemned by damn near everyone who’s commented here. Except for possibly the last point, I suspect you already knew all of that, too. That’s true of both the BLM riots and the Capitol riots, by the way. I can only think of a very few (in fact, only one in particular commenter comes to mind) who has justified rioting as a means of protest. And I can’t think of any comment I’ve seen that held that the Capitol riot was justified (though I guess it’s possible one exists and I missed it). FWIW: Like you, I’m also bothered some of the language in comments I’ve seen here during the past year or so. But since Jonn died, there hasn’t been the same level of consistency and enforcement regarding what is and isn’t allowable in terms of commentary. That’s probably because while he was alive Jonn made that call himself per his own standards; this ensured reasonable consistency. That function (monitoring comments for suitability and taking remedial action when one isn’t suitable) is being handled differently now. Since I’m not the one running the show here, it’s not my place to say more regarding the subject. No need for a reply, but I’ll be happy to discuss the matter… Read more »

justplainjason

I think we used to talk a bit a while back. The US doesn’t have a left right problem it has an authoritarian problem. Some people love authoritarians if they speak their language. Personally, I am not a big fan of having the presidential inauguration surrounded by National Guard. I don’t want to bore you on my complete thoughts on the subject.

I am not going to hide the fact I am an anti-trump guy. He could have used his position to cool things down and make the transition better, but he is a spoiled child. This is probably the first time in his life he has “lost.” Someone who has more or less been given everything in his life has no concept on how to lose. I don’t give a shit about conspiracy theories about “voter fraud”.

Every day we make choices to live life in a certain way. Ashli Babbitt was a victim in many ways, but she also chose to go that way. Like George Floyd, she could have just done what the officer told her and maybe she would be alive today.

Poetrooper

Hondo, while I, too, am bothered by some of the language and insults, I think the level of discourse here in TAH comments is a fairly reasonable reflection of what we see taking place on the national scene.

In fact, if anything, I would deem it more moderate with the exception of those threads where Lars enters the fray with his profane, contemptuous denunciations, inspiring like responses.

What with most of us coming from military backgrounds we are accustomed to dealing with tough, straight, frequently profane talk.

When it is constantly, insultingly hurled into our faces by a commenter who acts more like an unfit-for-service, know-it-all private than a field grade officer, we tend to respond with a bit of our own venom.

As for justplainjason showing up occasionally after long absences, expecting everything to be unchanged in spite of the deterioration of the national political scene, well that’s just a foolish expectation on his part, akin to going back to your hometown after being away for years with the wishful hope of finding it unchanged. It’s simply unrealistic.

Even though, as a strong believer in free speech, I have long maintained that Lars should be allowed to continue commenting, I do believe that his presence here has had a negative effect on the level of discourse. I offer no solution nor do I expect our admins to have an easy remedy to the enduring dilemma:

Free speech always carries a price…

justplainjason

I am not a fan of Kamala Harris’s background as a prosecutor. There are plenty of places to attack here on that ground, maybe as vice-President she will do something to correct that I don’t know. I have a problem with attacking her on her sex or race.

OWB

So, when she makes an issue of it we are supposed to do what exactly? SHE is the one who told tales about bussing, for instance. Yeah, an appropriate response to her claim was to ask when she road a bus to public school.

You throw out an issue, any issue, and you own it.

So, you got an issue with discussing her gender and/or race? Take it up with her.

justplainjason

I don’t know, if you want if you want to bust politicians on possibly lying sure. Of being a shitty human and possibly doing illegal stuff you look past racial bias and dive into their careers. Of course that might take effort.

Poetrooper

What on earth does Kamala Harris have to do with my comment?

timactual

I think you confuse mockery of the current hysterical obsession with race with personal attack.

How do you feel about “white privilege”?

Hondo

Hondo, while I, too, am bothered by some of the language and insults . . . .

The insults aren’t what concern me, PT – and neither is the coarse language. But IMO – and maybe it’s just me – it seems that there has been a noticeable uptick in language that is questionable, borderline, and at times overtly racist in comments here since Jonn’s demise.

IMO that’s largely because Jonn never permitted that kind of stuff. He had quite consistent standards when it came to racist commentary, and when he noted (or someone brought) a problem comment to his attention he promptly evaluated it and dealt with it decisively. He was the sole enforcement authority and had consistent standards regarding what he would and would not allow. He also wasn’t afraid to moderate (or even ban) people when they proved recalcitrant concerning violating his policies for the site.

But that’s no longer the case; the policies and mechanisms for controlling that kind of crap have changed since his death.

That’s all I’m going to say concerning the matter.

Poetrooper

Well that surprises me because compared to the many other sites I routinely read, my observation is that TAH is almost simon-pure when it comes to racist comments. I must have missed something.

I occasionally submit links to articles here at TAH which are declined by admin as being possibly construed as racist even though those articles are from major conservative sites and innocuous in my opinion.

Even more so than beauty, it seems racism is in the eye of the beholder.

timactual

I haven’t noticed any particularly racist comments. Perhaps an article on the problem, with examples, would be useful?

timactual

” a fairly reasonable reflection of what we see taking place on the national scene… if anything, I would deem it more moderate ”

Couldn’t agree more. In fact, I agree with everything in your comment. Genius!

rgr769

No you moron, one individual threw a fire extinguisher at several officers, and the one who died was hit in the head with it.

justplainjason

That is some mental gymnastics to try and justify the homicide of a cop. Blue lives only matter someties I guess.

Poetrooper

So rgr769’s correcting your mischaracterization of the event, constitutes justification of cop-killing, hmm?

Talk about mental gymnastics–you truly are Lars Light…

justplainjason

I have no clue who Lars is, but if the shoe fits Ill proudly wear it.

We must be watching some completely different video. It was funny for a bunch of ‘”patriots” I saw a lot of Trump flags.

Poetrooper

If you don’t know who Lars is, you really are out of touch with this site, because he long identified as Lars before he adopted his Commissar username.

And if you know that little about commenters here, that just further strengthens my belief that you’re out of your lane coming in here condemning what you perceive as changes for the worse.

timactual

I see it’s now “homicide” and not “beating to death”. Small steps.

Next question, who is justifying the death of this police officer?

rgr769

Well, Jason, you have proven by your comments that you are a drinker of MSM (Progda) Kool-aid. I watched the video of the protester hucking the fire extinguisher at several officers in a scrum with other protesters. He was not “beaten to death.” None of the officers around him thought he was seriously injured. In fact, he walked back to his office where he later collapsed. We still don’t know exactly the cause of his death. But morons like you will continue to believe he was singled out by a mob of Trump supporters, then surrounded and beaten to death by dozens.

And everyone knows that a poncho is a useless POS in situations like that. A poncho liner on the other hand; you are just as wet as if you used a poncho, but it’s water and not sweat. And it’s quieter, less shiny, and easier to unass if necessary.
