Hesperia homeowner fends off intruder in gun battle caught on camera

HESPERIA, Calif. (KABC) — A Hesperia homeowner fended off an armed man who was trying to break into his home, exchanging gunfire until the man ran away.

The wild early-morning shootout was caught on camera – and the suspect turned out to be a neighbor who lived only a few doors down.

The incident happened early Monday morning, when the family heard someone trying to break into their home.

“I see him – he’s trying to kick the door in, demanding to come in. Then I see him pull out a gun.”

The homeowner ushered his wife and child into a closet for safety while he went to grab his own gun.

He came back to the front door and could see the man pointing his gun. At that point, they both started shooting at each other through the door.

He hopped out of the woods to scare his friend. It worked too well, police say

BY DAVID GOODHUE
A Miami man decided to prank his friend Sunday morning while the two fished from a Florida Keys bridge by changing clothes, hiding in the woods and jumping out and scaring him.

It worked. Too well, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

As Adam Antony Navarro, 31, popped out of the woods, his friend, whom police have not named, drew his 9mm handgun and fired one shot into his fishing buddy’s stomach, said Adam Linhardt, the sheriff’s office spokesman.

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. at the Channel 5 Bridge on Lower Matecumbe Key.

Just cause you covet what your neighbor has, doesn’t mean you should try to take it from him.

And just because YOU think it’s a good idea, doesn’t mean that it IS a good idea.

Teh stoopid stretches from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

A buncha local boys put the M1917 to good use with the 151st Machine Gun Battalion during WWI as part of the Rainbow Division. They also used the Saintly John Moses (Howitzer be his name) Browning’s earlier design with the M1895. Linky is attached below with an original picture.

Happy Birthday to Thomas Jonathan “Ol Blue Fire” Jackson…aka “Stonewall” “…so I am as safe in battle as if in my own bed.” I little nugget of history and a bone for our Signal Brethren. As a young 2nd LT Jackson was the FIRST (ht 2 TX Norsky) to drag a Signal Corps Telegrapher to the high ground and use that new fangled device to direct fire from his gun during the Mexican War. Jackson received many Brevets for his bravery under fire during that period and the personal attention of Winfield Scott.

Changing clothes, then hiding in the bushes and jumping out suddenly in order to scare someone you almost certainly know is armed? “Teh stoopid” is strong in this one.

Perhaps he was just prepping for his 2nd career as a rapper – stage name “1-DMF”.

Typical West Coast- did not know his neighbors (also an East Coast thing too- remember the Harvard prof-Henry Louis Gates, whose neighbor called the cops when he was climbing in his own window and Obama said the cops acted stupidly)? Lib communities are nasty people.
