While all other sciences have advanced, that of government is at a standstill – little better understood, little better practiced now than three or four thousand years ago.

Dads Against Daughters Dating could not be reached for comment.

Their corporate office staff are all out at a beer blast, for some reason.

From the linked article:

The woman’s father came outside with a pistol and said the boyfriend made a threatening move, so he opened fire on him.

The ex was shot at least once and then got back in his vehicle and sped away from the scene, . . . .

Sounds to me like the “ex” was a dumbass as well as a stalker. Making a threatening move towards someone who’s armed is a very stupid thing to do.

“You don’t have the BALLS to shoot me!”

Bang!

“Oops”

Graybeard

12 ga birdshot to crotch:

You don’t have balls.

MI Ranger

Is that one of those 410 handguns like the Judge? Or one of them cool Derringers from Bond Arms?!

Story said he took a pistol outside with him to greet the daughters Ex.

Graybeard

MI Ranger: I was making a general comment about ex-boyfriends who violate restraining orders, and a possible method of neutering the threat.

I ‘spect the Dad in the story had something in 9mm in hand.

Also from the article

No names have been released, and no charges had been filed as of early Thursday, but police said the man who was shot could face charges for violating the restraining order.

Unintended consequence of violating a court order, high speed injection of lead to the hip.

Daddy’s Darlin’ Dumplin’ Daughters! I admit nothing. Call my lawer. Mofo lucky. He woulda never been able to drive away. After all, buzzards gotta eat…*spit*…same as worms!

Where’s the picture of Farm Girl to go with the Mosin Nagant? Haven’t heard from that one in awhile. You know she can cook, don’t you? AND ride herd on rambunctious boys.

BTW…Happy Birthday Robert E. Lee! He sacrificed for Virginia, his Home State. Virginia Sacrificed him on the Alter of Political Correctness.

Graybeard

A true gentleman and Christian.

More so than that drunk Grant!

Hondo

Dunno about that. Accounts of Grant’s “drinking problem” appear to have been grossly exaggerated. He indeed liked his whiskey, but I don’t know of any documented occasions where he was drunk on duty.

Further, when Lee surrendered at Appomattox, as I recall Grant allowed Lee’s officers to retain their sidearms and horses vice ordering them confiscated. Grant could easily have done the latter; Lee’s surrender was unconditional. (For rather obvious reasons, Grant had little choice but to confiscate the Confederate rank-and-file’s weapons and artillery.) Sounds like a rather “gentlemanly” act to me.

Bottom line: neither side in the Civil War had a monopoly on either gentlemen or scoundrels. Each side had their share of both.

Graybeard

Grant was, indeed, a gentleman as well. I think the whiskey slander was more from jealous, but less soldierly, ossifers and wannabes.
We don’t see that today, do we? /s

Grant respected Lee and wanted to treat him and his men with honor. It was the politicians -p’tooi- who wanted to humiliate him and his men.

The more things change…

Find out what he was drinking while winning and order a cask for every one of our Generals.

We pay Generals to win Victory, not to become statuary or plaster saints.

Graybeard

Isn’t Lincoln reported to have said something like that?

KoB

Graybeard that is a paraphrasing and or close to what Lincoln is reported to have said when, upon announcing that Grant would become General of the Army, being told that Grant was a drunk.

Grant was what we would refer to today as a recovering alcoholic. His problems with that started after his marriage to Julia when he was posted from the St. Louis area to San Fran, at that point in time considered to be an unaccompanied, hardship tour. His loneliness from missing her so terribly lead him to seek solace from the bottle rather than the multitude of “Soiled Doves.” This caused him to derelict in his duties and led to multiple reprimands and to ultimately resign his commission. Grant’s “sponsor”, if you will, was Congress Critter Elihu Washburne, who got him his FIRST (ht 2 TX Norsky) Command when the war broke out. His war of attrition against Boobie Lee’s ANV, and Sherman’s against the AoT, plus him insisting that all of the garrison troops scattered across the country be put in the line, is what helped him “win” the war. It is worth noting that tho Sam Grant himself was an Honorable Man, his Cabinet is reputed to be the most corrupt of any Administration’s Cabinet.

It is also worth noting that Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson was a teetotaler because “…I found that I liked it too much.”

UpNorth

“Sam Grant himself was an Honorable Man, his Cabinet is reputed to be the most corrupt of any Administration’s Cabinet”. Hang on, Pedo Joe is just getting started.
