Joe Manchin’s undies are in a bunch. Since he couldn’t get the 25th amendment to oust Trump from the Oval Office, now he’s going to try a different route? Is he even vaguely aware that January 21st is this coming Thursday? How dimwittedly desperate can somebody be? The problem is that VP Pence wouldn’t agree to any of it, which must have just curdled Manchin’s cottage cheese. But then, Joe can really be quite cheesy himself at times, and this is one of them.
So much time and energy wasted on something so trivial….

Republicans were objecting to the results of several states when the protest taking place on the streets of Washington erupted in rioting and the Capitol was stormed. Some then persisted with their objections when Congress reconvened hours later.
In an interview that aired Friday on the PBS show “Firing Line,” Manchin took a hardline stance against Republicans who objected to the vote, particularly Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas.
Democrats last week had hoped to use the 25th Amendment — which allows for the removal from office of a president incapable of performing his duties — to remove President Donald Trump from office. Vice President Mike Pence rejected their request that he work with the Cabinet to invoke the amendment and remove Trump. – article
So much time wasted on acting like spoiled brats, time that could have been better spent on doing the business of the people, which is not going on. Well, you have to give Joey credit for trying to act like a spoiled brat and succeeding admirably at it. It’s probably a safe bet that he doesn’t compete in anything unless he thinks he can win, even if he has to cheat to do it.

This is particularly true since I’m reasonably sure members of Mancin’s own party objected to certification of the 2000, 2004, and

What is driving him is the fact that he IS considered a moderate and he will use that to good effect because of the 50/50 split in the Senate. His vote CAN help the GOPe keep VP Harris from making the deciding vote on leftist dream bills.
Of course, that also depends on Romney and Murkowski not selling out, as is their habit sometimes.

You are making an invalid assumption here, by assuming rational behavior among mostly irrational and unstable people. Most social democrats will vote the party line mindlessly because that is what they must do. It would take a very severe form of maltreatment to put them off their Wheaties in that regard. But it won’t matter, because the social democrats will continue to steal elections, until the conservatives forcefully and violently dissuade them from doing so.
