Woman helps catch stalker in night ‘sting’ she set up outside her Wharton home

William Westhoven
A Wharton woman set up a night surveillance “sting” outside her home and helped catch a man suspected of stalking her.

The stalker, court documents show, used a ladder to climb to the woman’s second-floor window and watch her as she dressed.

Spooked by several incidents where she heard noises outside her window, and fearful a stalker might harm her, the woman staked out her own apartment in the early-morning hours of Jan. 9.

She sat in a friend’s car at 2 a.m., and waited as a female friend drove her car into the apartment complex parking lot. When the friend exited the car and approached the apartment, the victim and another friend “observed a male walking very fast in the same path,” the complaint warrant stated.

“Once the third party entered the apartment, the male was observed by [the victim] and her friend to be standing outside the door staring into the apartment,” the document reads. “The male then walked to the back of the apartment where the previous peering incident took place.”

They told police they lost sight of him as he went around the building, but the other friend, now inside the apartment, heard noises outside the bedroom window.

Chicago Carjacker Calls 9-1-1 Because His Victim Pulled Gun on Him

BY JOHN BOCH
Go ahead, read that headline again. That’s right, Elliott Scott carjacked a tow truck in Chicago Tuesday. However, the truck’s rightful owner tracked down the flatbed thanks to GPS, whereupon the owner found Mr. Scott in the truck’s driver seat. The owner then pulled a gun on the Mr. Carjacker and explained things.

Mr. Scott, feeling himself terribly wronged, called 9-1-1 to have the police arrest the tow truck’s owner for pointing a firearm at him. CPD cuffed the carjacker instead of the truck’s owner. After all, the truck’s owner had a concealed carry license.

At his court appearance, Mr. Scott admitted to calling 9-1-1 to the judge, whereupon his attorney told the young thief to shut up.

Yeppers, shows you can trap just about anything if you use the right bait. BZ girlfriend! Amigos trip up the ladder was only successful in sending him up the river…and in the deep smelly end of the creek.

The picture of the young urban entrepreneur says a gazzilion words. He needed the tow truck for his new business of supplying transport to fellow choir members and Junior College students. His business model was to repatriate oppressed suburban vehicles to use a reparations to the disadvantaged inner city youths. Not enough urbanites are driving thru to allow the youths to practice their car-jacking skilz.

All God’s Chill’ren needs them some scary black rifle. Remember when you could walk into just about any sporting goods type store and have your pick of any number of them in the racks…along with ammunition? Pepperidge Farms Remembers.

I remember when they sold them at Walmart, and the bullets for them too. Hell, I remember when they sold Glocks at Walmart.

In the early 60s there was new “discount” store that sold a variety of consumer appliances, 8 mm video cameras and projectors were quite popular as were “portable” television sets.

At the end of the aisles there were zinc coated trash cans filled with M-1 carbines and Garands for a couple of bucks a piece. Bayonets galore, all variety of surplus stuff, most of which had been used but some of which hadn’t seen a lot of action. Cash and carry.

Somewhere around 1965/1966 I took a Winchester 12 gauge pump to school as a shop project, on the bus, no one gave it a second thought.

Took it apart, cleaned, blued the metal, refinished the stock, lube and grease and had it back in the field for pheasant hunting in short order.

Cosmetics are about all you CAN do to improve a Model 12. More accessories for an 870 nowadays, but the M12 started almost perfect out of the box.

Early 60s……I would have been about 10 y.o. or so. Way too young to have indulged. And dad was a suburbanite, no hunting or guns in our family. Too bad.
