TXNorsky

wooo hooo!!! would you look at that???

just happened to swing by to check it out!

I usually remember about 1700 local, then it’s way to late!

KoB

Rats of the Kong to ya there TXNorsky! I had just swung by myself, saw the Orphaned TAH Weekend Open Thread just a’layin’ there gave a 10 count til typing and another 10 count just to make it interesting… Let me be the FIRST to offer to buy you a refreshing beverage for your win.

Maybe this, too, will help placate the haters and whining jealous pots.

TXNorsky

Thank you kindly KoB, it’s much appreciated!!

ChipNASA

SPAZ OUT!!!!

Not first.

HI FUCKTARDS!!!

Congrats TXNorsky
POP THAT CHERRY!!!

(and piss off the KoB)

KoB

It’s all good Chippy, I almost didn’t even shoot for it, like I said, I just happened by. Had gone uptown to see Little Ms Thang at the local eatery and got me an order of chili cheese fries (hand cut fries, no beans in the chili and double the cheese). Was sitting here perusing the dispatches that had come in this pm when it dropped.

One thing I have noticed amongst the haters and whiners. Ain’t NOBODY else offered to throw open the snack bar, unleash the Class VI Supplies OR light up a seegar, like THE King of Battle, THE King of FIRST did. Just saying.

I am as proud for TXNorsky this week as I was Sarge from the week before…and the possible winner for next week.

TXNorsky

LMAO!!
Yea it does feel good to get that first one out of the way…

Thunderstixx

Congrats TXNorsky !!!
Remember, don’t kommiefornia my Texas !!!

ninja

A big CONGRATS!!! to TXNorsky on being FIRST!

TX means Texas??

Enjoy your week of the Crown and Septor!

TXNorsky

Thanks ninja –

Yes TX does mean Texas!! I’m chillin’ in south central TX.

KoB:

I am respobsible for all the Spelling errors as well as number errors when I write…

Need to start proofread my comments before I send.

Have finally figured out how to turn off the “Spell Check” app on the Smartphone that keeps replacing words I type in.

Not TXNorsky mistake..it’s my mistake..and by golly, Drill Sgt, am going to drop and give you 50!

ninja

KoB:

Again, TXNorsky was not the one who made the spelling error of “Septor” vs “Specter”…it was little ole ninja me!!!

Failure to proofread!

Heck, I did the UNFORGIVABLE…I stated my beloved Crimson Tide as being SEC Champs!!!

*Still trying to knock out those pushups*

KoB

Not to worry, noticed that and as a Kingly Gesture was not going to chastize one of my Adorable Deplorables. Besides, my glass house couldn’t stand too many rocks being thrown. Usually not a spelling nasi (sic), but make a spirited to be accurate. I was the Court Jester for a very long time before becoming the King of FIRST. I felt it was my duty as the all time King of FIRST to emphasize the burden of the Crown and Scepter.

You’d a thunk that the new incoming Lord of the Weekly Realm woulda of least offered up some of that good Texican BBQ Beef Beast Brisket…or maybe some real Texican Chili…or some mesquite smoked porked beast ribs…or SOMETHING!

And you were not incorrect in referring to the ROLL TIDE ROLL as the SEC Champs, because they are that too. I root for the ROLL TIDE ROLL for every game but one. If I was to have a conventional casket type funeral, I would ask the GA Bulldogs to be my pallbearers so they could let me down just one last time.

Now get out of that front leaning position and let’s have a glass of the House Wine…Sweet Iced Tea…with some citrus Tea Cakes.

gabn/hbtd/rtr

Txnorsky

It appears that a few things are amiss.
1. As all good Texans know, you can’t rush a good brisket. I have had one smoking for at least 18 hours and it is now ready to be served with all the fixins.
2. As to the spelling error, I was thinking Spector wasn’t quite right, but trusted ninja. (Shoulda known better).

However, isn’t it written, somewhere deep in the WOT by laws, that the current Loarder can’t do no wrong?

KoB

Ok, you’re kinda sorta forgiven, as the current “Loarder” 😛 I’ll take a Texas sized cat head stuffed with the brisket (sans sauce) with a coupla Lone Stars, the ones brewed in FW none of that LA Brewery PBR stuff.

And I thought all good Texicans KEPT a brisket in the smoker for, you know…reasons?

Txnorsky

Hey ninja, honestly, I didn’t proof read either…
Seems the boat is crowded.

ninja

TXNorsky:

You will do well with the WOT Crown and Scepter..Hold on to them with Texan Pride..Graybeard and other Texans are proud of you!

Congrats again!

KoB:

Please never forget the 2020 Victory of the Black Knights (GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!) and the SEC Champs, ROLL TIDE!

So…When do you think the PC Police will come around and make West Point get rid of the name “Black Knights” and the PETA Folks get rid of BAMA’s Mascot?

Am waiting for the Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, Fort Lee Community to try to have a Say-So with those Liberals Who Are Destroying Our Country who want to “Rename” our Military Installations.

What a Bunch of Hypocrites…Some may want to be buried at Arlington…Well, guess what family owed Arlington before it was taken away from them…

Can I say Bobby Lee?

George Orwell. 1984.

Hondo

” . . . . and the SEC Champs, ROLL TIDE!”

Ahem: believe that should read NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, ninja. (smile)

ninja

Hondo…

Have this HUGE smile on my face…

Our Son-In-Law always remind me of the SAME, Exact thing…”It’s the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, NOT THE SEC!!!”

Time to get my ears cleaned and my brain retweaked.

KoB and others:

Please forgive me!!!

Thanks, Hondo!!!

OWB

Small quibble – it was the Custis family that owned the plantation now known as Arlington National Cemetery. Yes, it became Lee territory but only because his wife inherited it just before the war between the states. Did not stay in the Lee family very long. It had been Custis property since before the Revolution.

ninja

“In 1874, Custis Lee, heir under his grandfather’s will passing the estate in trust to his mother, sued the United States claiming ownership of Arlington. On December 9, 1882, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5–4 in Lee’s favor in United States v. Lee, deciding that Arlington had been confiscated without due process. After that decision, Congress returned the estate to him, and on March 3, 1883, Custis Lee sold it back to the government for $150,000 (equal to $3,492,273 in 2021) at a signing ceremony with Secretary of War Robert Todd Lincoln. The land then became a military reservation.”

Curtis Lee was Bobby Lee’s son.

Arlington was Bobby Lee’s home.

Appreciate your assessment, OWB. Thank You for your feedback.

Our family has a different perspective based on our family history/background.

I know your relatives was on the Union side…Nothing wrong with that.

Am very proud my Family Tree served with Bobby Lee. They were too poor to have slaves. The community my family came from was a mixture of Black and White…and had Black Soldiers who served on Bobby Lee’s side.

Am just getting tired of others passing judgnent on Bobby Lee, a West Point Grad and the rest of us who have Southern heritage…

So am sticking to my guns.

What a bunch of hypocrites we have..wanting to be buried at Arlington, but at the same time, wanting to rename Military Installations…

As if THEY were hurt during the War Between the States.

It is all a FARCE. A Political Move.

What a Joke…

OWB

Uhm. Not quite sure what to do with your assessment of my family! Yes, I had some ancestors who fought in the Civil War but I also had ancestors who fought in the War of Yankee Aggression. That is precisely why I always just call it the war between the states. Somewhere kind of in the middle. (Or offensive to the entire family.)

You might be interested to know that some of my southern ancestors were named Lee. As in the Lees of Virginia. I have rather a soft spot for the Custis-Lee Mansion and a few of the other Lee homesteads because of them. My family was rather proud of Bobby marrying his childhood friend (and cousin) Mary Anna Randolph Custis. It kept the property in the family. For a while. I always thought the gift of the property to the government was more than generous.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, I am personally very happy to see what they have done with the house. I was happy to observe the restoration of it finally begin in the 1960’s. It had deteriorated shamefully by then but was rebuilt extremely well.

ninja

OWB:

Now I know the rest of the story about your family tree history.

Thank you and appreciate you sharing.

The ninja family thinks the “Rename Mulitary Installation Game” is a political JOKE/FARCE.

This comment has come up several times:

If we are to get rid of anything to do with the South because of the War Between the States, then why don’t we go ahead and continue with the political mindthinking of FDR and the DemoRats and shut down Japanese Restaurants, because after all, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor…

Also, lets shut down German Restarants…and what about Italian Restarants…or Chinese Restarants…you know…WW2…Communism…

If we are to be that dumb and stupid and ignorant in our thinking process, then lets go BIG and do it all…Be REALLY DUMB.

Pretty asinine, eh?

Scary, eh?

1984? Eh?

Pretty stupid, right?

Well, the same thought process should be apply to what happened over 100 years ago:

Politicians need to GET OVER IT, i.e The War Between The States..AND MOVE ON…
It’s Our History for crying out loud!!!

But they won’t.

They have the attitude “Oh, Bobby Lee and his Army are all Traitors, so let’s wipe the slate clean by tearing down statues and getting rid of names, but by golly, I”m gonna ensure I get buried at Arlington!”

All those Politicians..Hypocrites!!!

Am sick of it!

Anyway, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

That’s the beauty of living in our Country…or what’s left of it.

We have the Freedom of choice.

Or what’s left of it.

2 Chronicles 7:14.

OWB

Pssst. Don’t let any of them know that the place was called Arlington long before…oh, well, I’ve already said to much. Just don’t tell anybody!

ninja

OWB:

Will do!!!

😊😉😎👍👍👍👍

Thank You again for sharing.

KoB

ninja, one of the very few gridiron competition I was actually able to watch this past year was when the Black Knights of (GO) Army jousted their way thru the cloven hoofed goats of (BEAT) Navy. A most glorious day of Victory and snacks of the year. And now we have our Crimson ROLL TIDE ROLL taking another National Championship made even sweeter by the fact that they beat Ohio (take that ‘Cump Sherman) and have a better than ACE of Championships (6 out of the last 12) Record. The PC Po Po can take a long walk off of a very short plank.

Not sure how many noticed, but the last Defense Appropriation Bill mandated that the name change of ALL Installations named for Confederates will be changed. They are throwing rocks at two of the Greatest Military Tacticians the world has ever seen (Robert Edward Lee and Thomas Jonathan Jackson) but continue to lionize a murderous rapist (Ted Kennedy) and pay homage to a former Grand Kleagle of the KKK (Robert Byrd). Notice too, there has been NO discussion of the slave past of the current VP Elect. I will be celebrating the birthdays of Marse Robert and Ol’ Blue Fire come next week.

I’m on the high ground, clear fields of fire, guns laid, lanyards pulled tight, 3 days cooked rations, and a 90 day supply of consumable stores. I may need to re-enforce the North Wall. Ready as I can be.

Who’d a thunk that 1984 would become a “How To” book?

ninja

PREACH IT!!!!!

https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/new-york-bill-would-make-it-first-state-to-ban-bulletproof-vests/

“A New York lawmaker is attempting to seize body armor from civilians and would make it illegal to buy the protective gear in the state.”

“The bill from assemblymember Jonathan G. Jacobson (D.) would outlaw the sale and possession of body armor in the state of New York. The bill would require residents who own a bulletproof vest to turn them over to police within 15 days of the bill becoming law. It would make New York the first state to ban the purchase or possession of bulletproof vests for law-abiding residents.”

Present! Got the Moderna CHICOM virus vaccine yesterday. Nothing spectacular to report from a side effect standpoint other than a little fatigue, much like I always got from the regular flu shot. I’ll keep you apprised of any zombie-like behavior from the cantina.

ninja

SFC D:

Looking forward to your update on the CHICOM Vaccine and good for you that you took it.

The ninja family will NOT be taking that vaccine. We already have a history of having chronic problems because of the shingle shots, the anthrax shots,etc.etc. (All documented in our Medical records and reported).

We Are Done Getting Vaccinated. As Army Brats and Soldiers, we think we have been vaccinated against every disease known to Mankind (exaggeration on that part).

We believe in the Freedom of Choice, so we have no problems with others making the decision to get vaccinated.

We simply ask folks to respect our decision on NOT taking the vaccine.

SFC D

The powers-that-be decided my shop was mission essential right after EMS and first responders. Not sure why, but we do interact almost daily with trainees in their Petrie dish barracks. So far just fatigue and a little achy, no new appendages or stranger than normal behavior. It’s still early though!

KoB

SFC D I’ve heard that multiple shots of Jameson will, if not relieve, mitigate the side effects of just about anything.

What is this “normal” that you speak of?

I really wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Commissar Wumao (五毛) to watch it, ninja. His mind is as closed as a kosher deli run by Orthodox Jews on Saturday afternoon.

Aren’t those who oppose President Trump supposed to be Open Minded?

Because if that is true, then I invite him to watch Larry Elder’s “Uncle Tom” and ask what he thinks.

I can dream, eh?

😉😎

rgr769

Yeah. But, naw. I don’t know if a cuttlefish can dream, but the Marxist mollusk likely dreams of all us boomers that don’t die from the virus created by his masters (as he feverishly hopes) ending our days in one of the Prog “re-education” camps.

Here ya go, 11B – I know you love your American Thinker articles:

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2021/01/statement.html

To quote:

American Thinker and contributors Andrea Widburg, R.D. Wedge, Brian Tomlinson, and Peggy Ryan have published pieces on http://www.AmericanThinker.com that falsely accuse US Dominion Inc., Dominion Voting Systems, Inc., and Dominion Voting Systems Corporation (collectively “Dominion”) of conspiring to steal the November 2020 election from Donald Trump. These pieces rely on discredited sources who have peddled debunked theories about Dominion’s supposed ties to Venezuela, fraud on Dominion’s machines that resulted in massive vote switching or weighted votes, and other claims falsely stating that there is credible evidence that Dominion acted fraudulently.

These statements are completely false and have no basis in fact. Industry experts and public officials alike have confirmed that Dominion conducted itself appropriately and that there is simply no evidence to support these claims.

It was wrong for us to publish these false statements. We apologize to Dominion for all of the harm this caused them and their employees. We also apologize to our readers for abandoning 9 journalistic principles and misrepresenting Dominion’s track record and its limited role in tabulating votes for the November 2020 election. We regret this grave error.

Again, from above:
These statements are completely false and have no basis in fact.

ninja

LC:

Have always tried to be open minded with other folks assessment on situations…

I gather you believe Biden honestly received every vote in an honest, legal manner?

Because if you do, have to ask you this question:

OJ Simpson: Did He or Didn’t He?

11B-Mailclerk

He got wrecked elsewhere, so now pings me? Lol. Quitter.

Green Thumb

Only Al Cowlings will know…..

LC

I must’ve missed where I got ‘wrecked’ elsewhere? But yeah, I’m pinging you because you posted a ton of American Thinker links, all which they now disavow. And instead of admitting maybe you were off, you instead try to change the topic?

I hope somewhere in that brain of yours, you’re at least considering that maybe you consumed a diet of lies, and thus came to the wrong conclusion, much like American Thinker had to.

11B-Mailclerk

I am convinced by the “guilty conscience” actions of the Donks that there was major fraud in the 2000 election.

They usually cheat, every year. Thus places like Chicago are the butt of decades-old jokes.

Of course some folks will recant or play along, in fear or stupid. So what?

You are unpersuasive.

LC

I gather you believe Biden honestly received every vote in an honest, legal manner?

With the minor correction that every vote is a bit of an exaggeration – there are always small amounts of fraud – then yes, I do.

OJ Simpson: Did He or Didn’t He?

Ha, I’ll play this game, sure. I think OJ did it, naturally.

Is anyone else having difficulty with internet connectivity? Had to get creative to find my way here just now. Service has been somewhat interrupted for 4-5 hours now. Hmmm.

Probably the phase of the moon. Yeah. That’s it.

Graybeard

AT&T internet was down for 36-48 hours in our AO – last Sunday evening to Tuesday morning some time.

That is enough time to install a significant batch of software and do some testing and tweaking.

UpNorth

I had the same problem with Spectrum and my internet service Monday or Tuesday. Of course, they posted a notice telling us that there was a problem with connecting with the internet.

Graybeard

AT&T just cut service entirely, and only bothered to “tell” you if you called the outage in to repair.

Were you issued your Precious Metals Recovery Expert Badge? Just a reminder that you cannot wear it until it is entered into your Service Record Book.

Graybeard

FWIW, I did raise eyebrows with one of my offerings.

Besides my 8# of copper, clean bright, I had a 13# bar of Inconel.

Near as I can figure, when Dad was hot-shotting around the HouTex AO, it rolled off a pallet in the back of his van & slipped into a nook. I found it there when cleaning out the van in preparation for taking it to the scrap yard.

They had to use the spectrometer on it.

But the true Precious Metals Recovery Expert Badge belongs to Airborne Son, who is also a trained and highly skilled jeweler. He made a Sterling silver Airborne Badge ring for his Airborne Uncle, along with some other cool stuff. The kid is a whiz at that stuff.

Biden just continues to make himself look weak and petty.

He is continuing his complaints about Twitter followers on the POTUS account. Twitter, for whatever reason, decided to zero it at transfer. Thus Biden gets to call his POTUS count his own, be it 10 thousand or 10 million. But no, he wants all of Trump’s “follows” handed over with it.

Does “you didn’t build that” ring in his ear, now?

But his demand is -dumb-. If they did transfer Trump’s numbers to Biden, some folks inevitably say “What, again with The Steal?” And a bunch of folks will promptly unfollow, making his count drop. Isn’t that drop going to look much worse than starting small and “build back better”? A record-popular candidate would not sweat such chickenshit details.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

He knows. He is angry and petty. And by acting on it, he looks weak and foolish.

Commissioner Wretched

Hi, folks! Didja ever get the feeling that you were forgetting to do something? Like all afternoon? I finally came in to see what was going on and *presto!* I see I forgot to bring in this week’s trivia. May I ask forgiveness? Even if I offer the trivia with no further delay? DID YOU KNOW…? Does Superman’s home city of Metropolis really exist? By Commissioner Wretched I think we should take a whole new approach to 2021. After all, look what all that brightness and happiness got us last year, right? Not that I’m advocating doom and gloom, mark you … we already have had plenty of that. But I’m thinking of optimism, the belief that it has to get better! There will be sunny days ahead and we will have everything back to normal soon. Whatever normal is. (I always say normal is just a setting on your dryer.) So here’s to a brighter, sunnier 2021 … anything would be better than last year! Now for some trivia to make you smile. Did you know … … the wing span of a Boeing 747 jet aircraft is longer than the entire distance covered in the first powered airplane flight, by the Wright Brothers in 1903? (One small flight for man …) … it is illegal in Connecticut to ride a bicycle at a speed greater than 65 miles per hour? (I don’t want to speculate on how hard it is to pedal a bicycle that fast, but making it illegal makes sense to me.) … the first celebration of Mardi Gras in New Orleans was in 1699? Two French explorers, Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, Sieur de Bienville (1680-1767) and his brother, Pierre Le Moyne, Sieur d’Iberville (1661-1706), landed in Louisiana – then called French America – and had a small-scale Mardi Gras celebration that year. Additional trivia note: Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne is credited as the founder of the city of New Orleans. (Small-scale celebration? I wonder what it consisted of … music, booze, beads? Probably.) … a popular tourist attraction in California has a redundant name? The La Brea… Read more »

“Your home may have a “lawn mullet?” That’s the term for having grass in the front yard neatly mowed, but the back yard allowed to grow wild. (An alternate term for having your yard like that is “lazy homeowner.”)

You are the second one to bring this subject up on this thread. (See comment from SFC D). What is this “normal” y’all speaking of? When my chancre mechanic’s assistant made mention that my tests came back “normal” I inquired as to whether or not I could have a certificate to that effect. When she asked why, I said that there is a large number of people who could testify that, in their opinions, I am not now, nor have I ever been “normal.”

In a strange coincidence, Hack Stone has the NBC Today Show on, and just as he was reading the paragraph about Metropolis and Superman, one of the anchors mentioned Superman. Hack needs to head over to Costco today and stock up on aluminum foil.

“CNN’s Don Lemon Doubles Down On Lumping All Trump Voters With Klansmen, Nazis: ‘I believe what I said'”

https://www.foxnews.com/media/cnns-don-lemon-doubles-down-on-lumping-all-trump-voters-with-klansmen-nazis-i-believe-what-i-said

Yeah, Sure…all those Blacks who voted for Trump are either KKK or Nazis…

His comment is gonna backfire on him oneday…Hope it happens tomorrow..What a waste of DNA..

ChipNASA

I just watched that and he’s a giant asshole. No hyperbole.

Yes, a waste of a human.

rgr769

He can’t help it. He is a chronic sufferer of the Loose Anuse syndrome, as his boy-toy is rather well endowed.

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO he’s a serious waste of flesh and oxygen.

Mason

Where did this Democrat/MSM narrative come from that all the Capitol rioters last week were looking to kidnap and murder Congressmen? It seems to be the only thing they’re pushing this week (aside impeachment).

A Proud Infidel®™

Funny you should mention that, if you’re part of a mob looting, burning and pillaging a downtown area of a D-rat ruled city in the name of a D-rat mob cause, it’s a “Peaceful Protest”, but let a few plants get loose from a Conservative cause and it’s “Insurrection”! I’m betting that in days to come anyone not in lockstep wit President-elect Potato-head and his puppeteers will be labeled “Traitors” and “Insurrectionists”, keep y’alls powder dry!

rgr769

The effing Progs are already screaming that everyone who voted for Trump or is a non-RINO Republican politician is a “traitor.” Just watch a few minutes of MSDNC or CNN, if you want verification. They are already collating their lists of enemies for planned retribution.

After next Wednesday, those facts will no longer be operative.

Hondo

Archived to PDF in case it “disappears” for some reason on/after 20 Jan 2021.

The info is eminently plausible. Antibodies for the virus have been identified in blood samples taken in the US in Nov 2019 – which is well before the first “known” US cases occurred in Jan 2020. Couple that with the fact that most cases are either mild or asymptomatic, this is fully consistent with an initially-unnoticed outbreak occurring in China beginning in the Summer of 2019 as described in the factsheet.

Hack Stone

Hack Stone did not win the Megamillions Lottery last evening, so at least one more day of being Director Of Media Relations for a proud but humble woman owned business that sells software to the federal government formerly located in Bethesda Maryland. For the record, there was no winner, so come Tuesday it will be at least $850,000,000, which is more than enough to finance a solar panel company that goes bankrupt before selling one solar panel.

The Other Whitey

For those interested.

Got my nieces’s Navy fighters on the home stretch. Just waiting on ordnance and custom decals, then the canopy masks come off and they get presented to the little girls waiting on them. Also progressed on the large dio scene of my Uncle, and I hope to start on the groundwork for that one soon. After having flexed her wifely executive authority in selecting it in the first place, Mrs. Whitey has commanded that our youngest daughter’s B-29 be marked for the Korean War era, as it is a bit more colorful than the 1945 USAAF scheme (I must admit that there is an undeniably classical look to anything in bare aluminum with the red-striped Star & Bar and “US AIR FORCE” in big block letters down the sides of the fuselage, so I can’t fault her taste).

Our upcoming real estate transaction and interstate relocation will complicate these projects, so hopefully I can get at least the first two done before that happens.

Like the work on the Wildcat…

The Other Whitey

The ID markings are those of Butch O’Hare’s plane. I applied some artistic license with the prewar-style yellow squadron ID stripes because my niece likes yellow, plus the RVN flag tail flash because she’s Vietnamese.

KoB

Looking good TOW! Keep ’em coming, there are those of us that are interested!

“…having flexed her wifely authority…”

Among other things, you have “flexed” the interest of the “deviants” lurking here in the “wifely” pinup nose art that you made mention of. 😛 Not our fault…you are the one that mentioned “…my wife is hot!” 😀 And it is obvious, with 4 chill’ren, that just because you are a dog, it doesn’t mean you sleep with one. 😉

To quote the Judge from Caddy Shack; “Well, we’re waiting!”

The Other Whitey

Gotta line up a sufficiently skilled artist to produce the aforementioned image, KoB! I can stick a decal, but my artistic abilities fall short of stick figures.

I mean, you wouldn’t let just any numbnut off the street tell you where to point your howitzer, right? Wouldn’t you prefer to be certain he knows which way is up first?

Hee Hee, the bumper number of the Humvee was 40BSBHQ6, so that means the Colonel’s ride was jacked.

Some driver somewhere is in deep doo-doo about right now./s

Figured for sure there would be a “Where were you and what were you doing?” comment thread yesterday on the 30th Anniversary of the start of the Air War stage of Desert Shield/Storm.

Myself, I was sitting in the extension of my Brigade S-4 M577 track at the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site watching the fireworks happen on a little four inch screen field TV.

Good Times!!

KoB

I thought the same Supply Daddy. Just knew that our Editor/Admin type person, late of the Aerial Artillery Platform Services, would have posted SOMETHING…you know, kinda like on the lines of…”The Aerial Artillery Platforms led the Charge…” or “There I was,at 3 feet AGL with nothing between me and the bed but a nimble intoxicated redhead…”

I was Road Warrioring down around Brunswick and had been having a twitchy feeling all day. I wrapped up my business and headed back home to the Central part of the State. Didn’t know why, just felt I needed to be there. Ten minutes after arriving home and relaying that info to wifey, the TV broke into the regularly scheduled programing with the words that bombs were falling on Bagdad. Son (step) was lagered up as a Brad Gunner with the 24th. His Mama (wifey) started freaking out. I calmed her down, telling her that the airedales would pound away for a good little while before “The Bear” would loose the Dogs of War. It literally took an act of war for me to agree to have cable TV installed in my house, just so she could get CNN. (Only 24/7 news game around then)

A Salute to those Warriors that let loose on SoDamnInsane with the Aerial and Floating Artillery Platforms. Being an old Missile Man watching those Tomahawks launch caused some stirrings in my nether regions.

Claw

Both of our sons were there also. One on the ground with the Support Company of the 5th SFG, the other both in/under the water (exact where-abouts classified, I guess).

Mrs. Claw was a steadfast Trooper, though, through it all. She knew the ropes.

OWB

There we were…

Indeed.

Yep. Just sittin’ there with my brick waiting for it to begin with another guy who also was privy to the super secret info. We both knew we’d be awakened so opted to just not bother going to bed that night. Was kinda funny – we both knew and knew that the other one knew but still, neither of us acknowledged it at the time. As if us sittin’ there with bricks while everyone else wandered off wasn’t a big clue. Then off we went when word came down. Back to work. Me in civies with a uniform in hand to get into a bit later.

SFC D

I was in the middle of nowhere Saudi Arabia, halfway between Riyadh and KKMC. Tropo site 6R, “The Rockpile”. Listened to the BBC reports via AN/GRC-106.

Wearing the full chem gear in the lower levels of the King Fahd Airport terminal when the air strikes commenced. Listening to pair after pair of F-16s and A-10s taxiing and taking off.

OWB

Was only at King Fahd once, for about 8 hours. The C-141 taking us home developed mechanical difficulties. Rather narrow view of the place – we spent almost the entire time inside a hanger. Well, they did let us walk around just a bit as long as we stayed within about 10 paces of the hanger door!

Didn’t really matter. It looked pretty much like where we had been.
