‘Sheriff, hurry up please.’ Disabled man battles intruder as cops wait down the street

He had just stepped from the shower and was settling in for the night when he caught a glimpse of a figure outside his window.Seventy-year-old Bill Norkunas, a childhood polio survivor, headed over to the light and flicked it on hoping to scare away whoever was there. Instead, the light was a beacon drawing a young man to his front door, a door made of glass.
And then for the next 15 minutes, Norkunas stood there, barefoot and unclothed, with his crutches, on one side of the glass pane trying to steady a gun in his trembling hand while the stranger stood on the other side, pounding on the door, banging it with his hip or gnawing at the thick hurricane-grade glass with a garden paver.
Norkunas, who suffered minor injuries from the glass digging into his foot, has no idea why the man, later identified as 23-year-old Timothy Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, tried to break down his door on Nov. 7.
And as bewildering, and just as terrifying to him, is the knowledge that a squad of Broward sheriff’s deputies responded to his Tamarac neighborhood, but none came close to his home to stop the man. Instead, they waited down the street until he walked over to them and surrendered, witnesses told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

According to the article 18 deputies were dispatched to the call. That alone is a monumental fuck up. Short of an active shooter or some major catastrophe there would never be a reason to send that many officers to a single call of this nature.
The Broward County SO appears to still have some issues.
The subject was arrested and released on bond, not sure why “?”. He will plead guilty to a lesser charge and get some probation with the pinky promise to get off drugs. Maybe 30 days in jail.

The articles in the Armed Citizen and the one in the Sun-Sentinel are proof that the popo are not there to protect you when you need them, they are only there to write up a report of what happened. It is also proof that the court system is there to play “release the dregs of society back onto the backs of Society.” Seems to me that the ballif needs to whack the pee pee of the Judges AND the DAs.

This is off topic but I’ll add it in to the FGS. Saw on my home page that the Monolith was taken out by a person or persons unknown this past Friday night so that kills my story that it was used to direct archiologists wearing fedora hats and leather jackets to the Arc of the Convenent. Oh well.
