USS Nimitz going back to the gulf

| November 29, 2020

KoB sends in the news that the USS Nimitz is headed back to the gulf as Iran threatens retaliation for their top mad scientist being killed (allegedly by Israel, which admittedly is highly likely).

USS Nimitz ordered back to Persian Gulf after Iran’s supreme leader threatens revenge over slain scientist

On Saturday, the Pentagon announced that it has sent the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier back to the Middle East, citing the drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a symbol of American military might, the carrier might also prove a deterrent to any aggression from Iran.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who called the slain man “the country’s prominent and distinguished nuclear and defensive scientist,” said Iran’s first priority was the “definitive punishment of the perpetrators and those who ordered it.” He did not elaborate.

Speaking at a meeting of his government’s coronavirus task force earlier Saturday, President Hassan Rouhani blamed Israel for the killing.

Rouhani said Fakhrizadeh’s death would not stop Iran’s nuclear program, underscoring a statement by Khamenei. Iran’s civilian nuclear program has continued its experiments and now enriches uranium up to 4.5%, far below weapons-grade levels of 90%.

But analysts have said Fakhrizadeh is on par with Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who led the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb during World War II.

“We will respond to the assassination of Martyr Fakhrizadeh in a proper time,” Rouhani said. “The Iranian nation is smarter than falling into the trap of the Zionists. They are thinking to create chaos.”

Friday’s attack happened in Absard, a village just east of the capital that is a retreat for the Iranian elite. Iranian state television said an old truck with explosives hidden under a load of wood blew up near a sedan carrying Fakhrizadeh.

My favorite part of the article, which is about 2/3rd commentary and 1/3rd reporting, is;

The roadside attack, which bore the hallmarks of a carefully planned, military-style ambush, threatens to further escalate tensions between the United States and Iran in the waning days of President Trump’s term and creates new complications for President-elect Joe Biden.

Yes, this is increasing tensions. It’s not Iran building nuclear weapons. It’s not Iran being a sponsor of terrorist organizations. It’s not Iran threatening numerous sovereign states in the region or backing rebels fighting in one of them.

Thank God that by this time next year we’ll be back in the Iranian appeasement program. Then we can go back to real international security under a strong, sharp, and charismatic leader like Joe “Hands” Biden.

So, what you’re saying, Mason, is make another run to the grocery store before January 20, because otherwise, the shelves may be bare, right?

IT was only a matter of time, y’know. We’ll be right back where we started. Deja vu all over again.

So far, the Gov of my state has not imposed that travesty on anyone, but the fresh foods are most necessary. Canned and frozen vegs/fruit are stocked, the freezer has a good supply of other stuff, but that’s why I am going back to making my own bread with those simple recipes I found.

This is ridiculous. Period.

So having a roadside bomb blow up and kill someone is now offensive to the iranians??? Hell I would have thought it would be homecoming and situation normal for them. Sucks when your own tactics get used against you. 😉

‘Reckless, Provocative, and Illegal’ – Bernie Sanders Laments Assassination of Iran Nuclear Scientist

SIMON KENT
Democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Saturday joined Tehran in lamenting the assassination of Iranian nuclear program scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, describing it as an illegal and provocative move designed to subvert diplomacy.

“The assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was reckless, provocative, and illegal. As a new administration takes power, it was clearly intended to undermine US-Iran diplomacy. We must not allow that to happen. Diplomacy, not murder, is the best path forward,” he said in a tweet.

OK, you are sitting on the porch, after a hard day at work providing for your family. A neighbor (and NOT the friendly one) goes on world wide TV and says that his stated goal is your death, the death of your family, and the destruction of all that you have worked for. Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters? No, and you’re not gonna call a social worker either. Appeasement NEVER works, history is replete with examples of that. No matter how many other chickens you feed the fox, he’s gonna come after your feathered ass too, eventually if not sooner.

The headlines of the potential Slo Jo and The Ho cabinet members, spewing their condemnation of this surgical removal of a cancer, should be a glaring neon billboard sized sign of what is to come. Instead of a truck bomb, maybe they shoulda used a nuke.

Why give the bastards the satisfaction? And the “two can play this game” lesson is useful.

And, Iran is not the only intended recipient of the “pop goes the weasel” message.
