Stupid criminals of the week

| November 28, 2020

While we await the dumb crook news from Black Friday we have some from this week. Since new XBox and new Playstations came out and are in short supply, we should have some tramplings and/or robberies to report on next week.

First one’s not a criminal so much as a general neer-do-well doing his dirty deeds on the government clock.

Tennessee firefighter, mistaken for burglar, resigns after fire station sex act with Alabama man

A Signal Mountain, Tenn. firefighter resigned last month after being mistaken for a burglary suspect while dressed as a woman and performing a sex act on another man inside the Shackleford Ridge Road fire station.

It was 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 6 when a Signal Mountain police officer drove by Fire Station No. 2 and saw what appeared to be a woman inside the fire station’s lobby and a man standing just outside, according to an investigative report. In the parking lot, he saw a black Dodge pickup truck with an Alabama license plate that he did not recognize.

The officer thought he may have just witnessed a trespassing violation or a burglary, so he looked in a window to the training room and saw the two people engaged in a sex act, the report states.

The officer entered the building and saw the man running toward an exit while zipping up his pants, according to the report. He yelled at the man to stop and ultimately apprehended him outside.

Once the man, who was from Alabama, was in custody, he told police that the woman he was with was actually a man, and that man was a firefighter who had let him into the building, the report states.

Then the Alabama man told police the firefighter was hiding in a restroom in the training room and showed them text conversations with the firefighter. The texts showed that the firefighter had been trying to convince the Alabama man for about a week to travel to the fire station for the sexual encounter, the report states.

The Signal Mountain officer looked for the firefighter inside the restroom and surrounding rooms but was unable to find him.

Then, a firefighter who had been in the bay area began helping in the search for the suspect, according to the report. That firefighter later turned out to be the suspect himself, police said.

The officer noted that he became suspicious of the firefighter “due to his odd behavior in how he was looking through the areas and how items such as a pillow on the floor of the training room in front of the chair where the sexual act was being performed had been moved to the counter” and that other items had been moved around.

The only firefighter who was in that area without the officer was the suspect firefighter, the officer noted, and the firefighter in question “had what appeared to be lip gloss on his lower lip.”

The officer then had three firemen who were on the premises gather in the day room and told them about the situation and “that my conclusion was that it was one of them.”

The suspect then asked the officer to step outside to talk, the report states. Once outside, the firefighter admitted to being with the other man but denied any sexual act.

The firefighter was then asked by fire station administrators to collect his belongings and leave the premises until contacted by the administration, according to the report.

In a statement, he told investigators he’d been texting the Alabama man “about a relationship with my wife outside of work.”

“I was talking with this man about a personal issue with my home life and it should of stayed that way, I would’ve addressed the issue earlier with the officer, but it all happened so fast. Nothing like this has ever happened before nor will it happen again Please forgive me.”

The firefighter resigned a few days later.

The Alabama man also gave police a statement, admitting to the sexual encounter and stating that he did not know the firefighter; they had communicated only online.

The Signal Mountain Fire Department did not return a request for comment.

Alabama drug test lab owner sent to prison for forging test results, costing parents custody of children

The former owner of an Alabama testing lab was sentenced to prison last week for falsifying drug test results that prosecutors say cost multiple parents custody of their children.

Brandy Murrah, 37, was sentenced on Nov. 12 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty in September to one felony charge of perjury and 16 misdemeanor counts of forgery, the Dothan Eagle reported.

Before her sentencing, Murrah admitted wrongdoing to Judge William Filmore and apologized for the hurt she caused others.

“I’ve done a lot of things wrong in my life,” Murrah told the court. “I’m sorry for anyone I ever hurt. I really did not do this intentionally to ever hurt anyone.”

Murrah was arrested in Ozark, Ala., in 2019 on charges of fabricating drug screening results processed by her lab, A&J Lab Collections.

Multiple parents who were denied custody of their children based on Murrah’s fabricated drug test results shared their stories in court last week.

“I felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest because I knew I was doing right with this one,” said Grace Locke, according to the Dothan Eagle. Her 3-month-old baby was taken away from her for three weeks in 2017 after her drug test results falsely showed that she was positive for methamphetamine.

“I don’t understand why anybody would ever do that to any family, any children, for no reason,” Locke said.

California man charged with crashing drone into LAPD helicopter

A Hollywood man who operated a drone that crashed into a police helicopter, forcing an emergency landing, is facing a federal charge.

Andrew Rene Hernandez, 22, was arrested by FBI agents Thursday and charged with one count of unsafe operation of an unmanned aircraft, the Justice Department said.

The criminal case is believed to be the first in the nation stemming from a drone collision.

The incident occurred Sept. 18, when LAPD officers responded to a burglary at a Hollywood pharmacy and needed air support. The pilot wasn’t able to avoid the drone and had to land after the collision.

Federal authorities claim that the accident could have been deadly.

“If the drone had struck the helicopter’s main rotor instead of the fuselage, it could have brought the helicopter down,” according to the complaint.

Hernandez admitted to flying the drone, controlling it via a device attached to his smartphone. He reportedly was using the drone to “see what was going on.”

“This case resulted from a serious incident that could have ended very badly as a result of the reckless actions of the drone operator,” Thom Mrozek, a U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman, said.

LAPD officers located parts of the drone near the pharmacy, as well as a damaged vehicle that the drone also struck as it fell.

Investigators identified Hernandez based on camera footage taken by the drone. The misdemeanor offense is punishable by up to a year in prison.

Authorities do not believe Hernandez intentionally caused the drone to ram the copter.

Woman Stabs SW Florida Man in Attempt to Take His Wife: Police

Police say a woman drove from Maine to Southwest Florida and stabbed a man inside of his tome in an effort to run away with the victim’s wife.

NBC affiliate WBBH-TV reports the incident took place this past weekend in Venice, where 27-year-old Alana Gibson drove because she wanted to be with the woman who was a former co-worker.

A police report says Gibson broke through a window at the home and used a machete to stab the man multiple times, telling investigators she chose not to use a bow and arrow she brought because she didn’t want to hit the victim’s wife by accident.

Gibson was able to get away from one of the victim’s roommates and led police on a chase into Charlotte County, where she was detained and confessed to the crime.

The male victim, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital in Sarasota and survived his injuries.

No word on what charges Gibson, who is transgender, will face at this time.

Thanksgiving burglar goes into home, helps himself to family’s breakfast, bathroom

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) arrested a man on Thanksgiving after he broke into several vehicles and someone’s house in Cedar Mill, helping himself to Thanksgiving food.

Dana Huntington is the homeowner. He heard a car alarm go off around 6:30 a.m. and found Antonio Bernal, 22, in a family vehicle.

“I had a few choice words for him,” Huntington said.

Huntington told KGW Bernal stuck around to talk. Bernal turned out his pockets, revealing dozens of tools and objects from Huntington’s home and garage.

However, Huntington said Bernal stuck to a different story, saying a friend had given him the keys.

“He held out the keys, and I recognized an Oregon Ducks keychain that was my wife’s that was hanging in my house in my kitchen [before],” Huntington said. “So, now I know that not only he had been in my car, but in my garage and in my kitchen while all of us were asleep.”

Huntington said he kept Bernal preoccupied at a distance until Washington County deputies responded.

“I’m definitely happy that everyone’s safe, nobody was hurt, the man himself wasn’t hurt,” Huntington said. “It was all worked out.”

As deputies investigated, they found Bernal had not only been in several vehicles, but had also used a bathroom inside the house and helped himself to some food the family had prepared for Thanksgiving.

Huntington said Bernal appeared to have taken some food outside, scattering marshmallows all over the floor of the family’s van.

Deputies arrested Bernal on the charges of burglary I, two counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, and theft II. More charges may be pending.

I mean, who hasn’t hooked up inside a fire station? I ain’t one to judge and all, being a fan of the ol’ “Tab P into Slot V”-type interactions myself, there are other variants of that custom that others prefer and I accepts that.
Let’s hope that former firefighter finds their true self.
Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?

Lots of stuff goes on in Volly Fire Houses out on Long Island NY. anyone remember Elmont LI Fire house sex scandal? How about That FDNY Firehouse in Manhattan that had hookers working up in the hay loft a number of years ago. When FDNY became paid, they used the horse drawn stations and when mechanized apparatus came in, the floor gas jets were taken out along with the hay in the lofts and overhead cables holding the equipment that was lowered onto the horse when a call came in.
