More statute toppling shenanigans

Vandalized McKinley Statue (Chicago Sun Times photo)

The KoB sends in word of the latest target of leftist terrorists; President William McKinley. The Chicago Sun Times reports on how the McKinley statue in McKinley Park was vandalized. The thugs also tied a rope to the statue and attempted to topple it by pulling it with a car.

A statue of former president William McKinley was vandalized Wednesday morning at McKinley Park on the Southwest Side.

About 4 a.m., someone threw a rope around the statue in the 3700 block of South Archer Avenue, according to Chicago police. The rope was attached to a car in an attempt to bring down the statue, police said.

The statue was also spray-painted with graffiti, police said. No arrest has been announced.

The would-be felons lack good grammar or penmanship, so it’s hard to know precisely just what their beef is with McKinley. On one side they painted “#Land Back” and on the other they painted “Decolonize Chicago [unintelligible]”. Their lack of foresight is clear when they can’t write “Decolonize” in the ample space provided on the large pedestal in one line.

McKinley, president from 1897 until when he was assassinated in 1901, joins a list of once revered U.S. figures who are now criticized for advancing white supremacy or being silent about attacks on Black Americans and Indigenous people.

Installed in 1905, the statue was cast with bronze from a melted statue of Christopher Columbus in Grant Park, according to the city’s website.

Over the summer, the city cited “public safety concerns” as it removed its three remaining Columbus statues after they drew ire from protestors. The statues were removed “temporarily” by the city, but people have called for them to be replaced by other figures.

The Columbus statue in Grant Park was the scene of a large clash between police and protesters in July that resulted in dozens of officers and demonstrators being injured.

Earlier this year, vandals targeted a McKinley monument in Buffalo, New York.

For those who don’t remember all the details of President McKinley and are searching their memories for just what makes him a figure of evil to these people, here are the highlights;

McKinley grew up in Ohio in a strict Methodist family that was, due to their religious beliefs, staunchly abolitionist in the antebellum years. When the War Between the States started, he enlisted as a private in the 23rd Ohio Infantry. After seeing battle at Carnifax Ferry he served as the brigade commissary sergeant. He served under fellow future Republican president Rutherford B Hayes, another staunch abolitionist who, as a lawyer pre-war, had defended escaped slaves in court. Hayes would become McKinley’s mentor.

After participating in the Battle of South Mountain and the bloody Battle of Antietam McKinley was commissioned a second lieutenant in reward for his service at Antietam. Before wars end he would be promoted to captain and given a brevet promotion to major. Brevet promotions for officers were either given for exceptionally meritorious service or for combat bravery.

He became a lawyer and politician after the war, serving in Congress and as Governor of Ohio. He would go on to be elected President of the United States in 1896. This put him in charge when the USS Maine exploded, sending the country to war with Spain. After victory over the Spanish Empire and territorial gains, McKinley was again tested when the Boxer Rebellion threatened to harm American (and other) diplomats and their families in China.

Winning re-election in 1900 he was assassinated the following year. He’s regarded as an above average president, though his popularity was overshadowed by his successor, the indomitable Teddy Roosevelt.

Again, the education system has clearly failed these petulant children.

Yet the statue of Lenin in Seattle remains.

Telling, indeed.

The Other Whitey

And that of outspoken white supremacist Karl Marx (who also held a woman in slavery).

I don’t know of any outdoor statue of Marx in Seattle or anywhere else in the US; however he was as racist as the day is long. According to him Blacks were half a step above animals and Mexicans were dumb and lazy. I do wonder at the Marxist BLM leadership as they are stupid or willfully obtuse to follow a man who felt they belonged in a zoo.

David

They neither know nor care. Like petulant children, they just want to destroy things for no good reason.

Plus Biden (or someone advising him) wants John Kerry for Nat’l Security Council:

Morons just have to be morons so that everyone knows they are morons.

Like vandalizing a cemetery. Except these days if it’s a white cemetery, breaking head stones is OK.

Again! Anybody still think that this is all about how systemically RAAAAAYYYYYYYCCIIIISSSS this country is. A known, practicing abolitionist, that VOLUNTEERED to be a PRIVATE SOLDIER (read trigger puller).

Excellent follow up write up Mason, not that we expected any different. For those who DO NOT click on the provided linkys, let me point out that the bottom part of Mason’s post was NOT part of the original article. This is info that he provided thru other research. It’s what he does to show that he has not lost that loving feeling, isn’t scared of a danger zone and wants us to be happily informed.

From the what it’s worth department, many of you know that Antietam Creek Battle (or Sharpsburg as called by the Southerners) was the single bloodiest day of any battle in any war for the American Casualties. 17 + some odd THOUSAND killed, wounded missing. What you may NOT know is that the lead up to that fight was the Battle of South Mountain, a real meat grinder man killing fight. The heroic stand made there on the mountain (actually The Gap) held up the overwhelmingly numerically superior Union Army long enough for Bobby Lee to consolidate his forces and fight the Federals to a draw at Antietam. A number of the units, on both sides, that fought at South Mountain suffered from 40-80+% casualties. And some of the troops that were at South Mountain were also in the Sharpsburg fight. McKinley was in both. That he survived was proof that there is a God of Warfare.

This destruction of Memorials needs to STOP! NOW!!!

There is systemic racism in the US. It’s all on the fringe left.

I was reading some other blog, and I am saddened to report that task and purpose has taken the blue pill and dived deep into the blue sea.

Since the subject has been broached I’m going to take this a bit further off-topic. We at TAH are well aware of the slant T&P has taken- Jonn made it clear he was no fan- but we Admins and Editors aren’t too picky where we find the grist for the TAH mill. You can find articles here from Rush to al-Jazerra. I think it’s a strength, not a weakness, that we present these for discussion and keep the forum open for alternate viewpoints. Some may and do disagree; I find it faintly amusing it is done here, and welcome their viewpoints as well.
Thanks Mason. Back to the regularly scheduled post.

It is important also to point out rot and corruption.

The Other Whitey

It’s also interesting that the SpanAm War gets brought up, as it is an excellent example of mass-media fraud not unlike what we’ve been seeing lately. What’s that saying about how history doesn’t repeat, but frequently rhymes?

11B-Mailclerk

History Raps.

China’s money has been well spent here
A whole generation of smart morons
That don’t know shit

rgr769

The Antifastanis and the Black Lies Matter gangs have become just like the Taliban and ISIS when it comes to historical monuments an statues. Would that we could give them the end they so richly deserve.

AW1Ed

Excellent analogy, rgr769.

The lefts giant Buddha statues are Mount Rushmore and Washington Monument.

Sapper3307

Has the rock been removed yet?

Devtun

Pres McKinley once had N. America’s highest mountain named after him, until it was changed back to Denali a few yrs ago. Too bad, Mt. McKinley had a nice ring to it.

Skippy

8 trips up there for me over 40 years
I never heard the name McKinley
Only Denali. When they made it official
I was shocked that Denali wasn’t the name

Chairman LBJ (and some others) tried to rename Cape Canaveral Florida to Cape Kennedy. (The landmass, not the base)

Florida said “FU2” and defied him. Canaveral it remains. He was annoyed.

26Limabeans

LBJ got Vet-nam named after him.

OWB

Well, it WAS called Cape Kennedy for a while. A quick search of same says from 1963 to 1973, to be exact.

It was confusing for a while – that I remember. But did not know whether either was actually official. Apparently both were, depending.

Sapper3307

Anybody see the minivan trying to ram a marble statue at over 100mph?
1 critical
1 dead
drive train removed (far away)

11B-Mailclerk

(loudly)

Far away!

Far away!

He’s looking for his marbles that are far, far away!

11B-Mailclerk

…(loudly)

He hit the thing. The sound was CRUNCH! The blood was spurting high!

His packmates were all heard to say “a helluva way to die!”

They scraped him up and shipped him home, the portions they could find.

He ain’t gonna Bloc no more…

11B-Mailclerk

We lured him in,

With our honored dead.

And then he smashed his empty head.

26Limabeans

A little with a yellow bill
Flew upon my window sill
I lured him closer with a piece of bread….
