‘I had to shoot him’: Meals on Wheels driver robbed, shoots suspect

Dean Narciso
Leon Fletcher had just gotten home from a hospital appointment Friday when the Meals on Wheels driver stopped in to set a tray of food on the table.

After a brief thank you, Fletcher turned away and “the next thing I knew, he went back to his car and my wife yelled out, ‘I hear gunshots.'”

Fletcher, 70, a Vietnam veteran, ran to the street and saw a young man slumped at the wheel of the delivery driver’s car. “He told me, ‘He tried to rob me. I had to shoot him.'”

Meals on Wheels, run by LifeCare Alliance, has thousands of volunteers who delivered about 1.5 million meals last year to central Ohio communities, Chuck Gehring, president and CEO of the organization, said this is the first time in his 19 years that something so violent has happened.

“We have never had anything even remotely close to this,” Gehring said.

Desert Hot Springs police: Suspected home intruder fatally shot

Colin Atagi
A suspected home intruder was fatally shot at a Desert Hot Springs home Wednesday night.

The shooting was reported about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 13-700 block of Hacienda Heights Drive, according to Desert Hot Springs police.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a man with at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released.

Deputy Chief Steven Shaw said the incident is currently identified as a homicide, but police are investigating whether self defense played a role.

The shooting was reported by the man who opened fire and he’s cooperating with investigators, Shaw added.

Strikin’ a 1000 is purt near as good as a trifecta of DRTs. 2 up and 2 down. WW is a grinnin’.

The moral of our stories today, Class, is; Story (a); Don’t mess with Old Men. The are too old to fist fight, too tired to run from you, they were once more badass than you will EVAH be, and a life prison sentence is no deterrent.

Story (b); I was in fear for my life and property, I will co-operate and make a statement when my lawer gets here. Then STFU til said lawer shows up.

Was not familiar with the Archon Type B, but then again, wasn’t familiar with the Type A either. Interesting article, well written and a nice number of click bait Ms Thangs attached (that I DID NOT click bait on) and some hilarious comments on the plasticised step child. “…so ugly makes a Glock look good…” Bwwaaaahahaha!

I did note in the article that there was not the FIRST comparison made to ANY of the designs of his most Saintly JMB (Howitzer be his name). That in itself made the article unique and different.

Only thing murkier than what da heck actually happened in that first article is why someone would buy a gun that expensive and fugly.
