Authorities are investigating after a woman reportedly shot at an apparent burglar inside her home.

A large law enforcement response including members of the Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office swarmed a home near 94th and Fletcher around 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The 32-year-old mother of three tells Channel 8 she was about to take a nap with her three-year-old daughter when she heard someone in the house trying to open her bedroom door. The mother says the door is difficult to open, and as the man attempted to get into the room, she hid in the closet with her daughter.

“He sounded like an older man,” she said. Once in the closet, where her pistol was located, the woman says the man tried to open the closet door and was speaking aggressively to her.

That’s when she says she fired two shots through the closet door, scaring the man off.

Homeowner shoots 14-year-old who displayed gun, police say

St. Louis police say a man shot a 14-year-old boy in the legs after the youth pointed a gun at him. The shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say the 14-year-old and two others approached the 26-year-old man on the front porch of his home. The 14-year-old allegedly pointed a gun at the man, who retrieved his own gun and shot the teenager in the legs. Police called to the scene found the wounded 14-year-old, who was taken to a hospital for treatment. The other two suspects drove away in an SUV. The 26-year-old man was not hurt.

So glad I live in a state where you can terminate with extreme prejudice clear and present danger threats like are read about today. We’d of had us a four of a kind FIRST thing this morning.

Yepper, that thar Davis is for shorely a throw down piece, or throw at…or throw away. The epitome of Mr. Saturday Night Special. Kinda like having carnal relations with a big girl…might make you feel good, but you don’t want nobody to see you. Hondo will be pleased about the dedication. I’ll let him know when he gets back. I asked him what time it was, he’s waiting for the consultant check to clear and meeting with Dr. Sheldon Cooper on finishing the Space/Time Continuing Theory.

Last time (c what I did there) I saw something as fugly as that Davis piece, it was wearing a pantsuit and asking “What Happened?” 😀

Friends’ don’t let friends go to a gun fight with a caliber that doesn’t begin with 4.

A .380 in the hand beats hell out of the .45 home on the dresser.

Suddenly got Marty Robbins’ “Big Iron” stuck in my head.

Not that it’s a bad thing…

Bingo. When it comes to self-defense, a weapon you can afford (and thus actually buy) is far better than a custom firearm you can’t afford.

My only beef with Davis/Raven/other “Ring of Fire” manufacturers was that their products weren’t exactly known for their reliability. They fulfilled a genuine need, albeit imperfectly: self-defense for those without a lot of cash. It’s a pity they couldn’t have made their products a bit more reliable.

On the other hand, most of these are owned by people who will never expend all of the first box of ammo. If they fire it at all, ever, max round count is likely one magazine.

So, “junked after 100 rounds” is a decent service life for the intended customer.

Liberator, not 1911.

With firearms reliability is a must. For folks who aren’t firearms savvy I tend to recommend revolvers first for simplistically and second they tend to be more forgiving in digesting reliably different brands of ammunition then semi autos.

Glock has turned into a nice alternative to revolvers for novices, but making sure your chosen load cycles reliably is a must with it or any semi-auto.

While I reload for all my centerfire pistols/revolvers. I use factory ammo for my self-defense load. That way I don’t have to be concerned about some lawyer trying to sway a jury that factory ammo wasn’t deadly enough he went out of his way to hand craft killer ammo.

Have yet to see where that was ever a factor in a real court case. Lots of folks say it, but no cases ever get cited.

Any lawyerly types here have any case info where reloaded ammo versus factory was a factor allowed at trial?

NSN TBD, but I’ll keep my eye out for it.

First unit to get them will be the 1BCT, 82nd Airborne. Good Deal./s
