Washington state woman accused of hiring teen to kill ex-husband in murder-for-hire plot

Washington state police have accused a woman of hiring a teenage hitman to whack her ex-husband –who survived after being shot nine times.

Authorities say Shaerin Kelley, 30, agreed to pay the 17-year-old $13,000 to murder her former spouse, Baron Li, who was shot in July in Bellevue, according to KOMO-TV.

Court documents paint a deliberate and disturbing murder-for-hire scheme, the station reported.

Bellevue police announced the arrests of Kelley and the teen on attempted murder charges Friday.

Georgia man accused of shooting, damaging workers’ $15K drone

A Newnan man was arrested after police said he fired shots and damaged a crew’s $15,000 drone while they were using it to photograph their work Friday.

Coweta County sheriff’s deputies said they were dispatched about 12:10 p.m. to the 60 block of Fuller Gordon Road, where two employees for Georgia Transmission said they were working on towers and power lines when 35-year-old Edward Neil Pope shot at the drone they were using.

According to a police report, the employees told Pope beforehand they would be working in the area, which he said he understood.

While flying the drone, one of the workers said he heard three shots. When the drone landed, they saw two gunshots had destroyed the device’s $600 battery. The landing gear was also shot at least once, the police report indicated. They told deputies they were unsure whether only the landing gear would need to be replaced or the entire drone, which they said is worth $15,000.

When one of the employees returned to his vehicle, he heard another gunshot and pellets hitting a nearby tree and the top of his truck, authorities said. The workers confronted Pope, who denied shooting the drone, the police report stated. The employees then called police when they saw a long shotgun in one of the cars in Pope’s yard, authorities said.

Deputies said when they failed to contact Pope, they spoke to his neighbors who told them they’ve had issues with the man harassing family members and also placing spike strips in the street.

Around 5 p.m., deputies said they made contact with Pope, who denied shooting the drone although authorities said there were two eyewitnesses, the police report said.

Pope was eventually arrested after a brief struggle and sent to the Coweta County jail, authorities said. He was charged with reckless conduct and criminal damage to property in the second degree.

Man slugs cop and then seeks to videotape officer’s reaction, police say

Porter County [Indiana] police say 30-year-old Craig Adams appeared cooperative at first when they attempted to take him into custody on an active warrant.

But as police tried to place Adams in handcuffs, he reportedly tensed up, pulled away and punched an officer in the thigh/groin area, authorities said.

After striking the officer, “he screamed for (a woman) to record the entire incident, trying to provoke officers into retaliation,” according to the incident report.

Adams faces a felony count of battery to law enforcement and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, police said.

Officers found a small plastic bag containing 4 grams of marijuana while serving the warrant at the home in the 700 block of Imperial Road, police said.

Adams reportedly was screaming and cursing during the ride to jail. He also unbuckled his seat belt at one point and pushed his body against the vehicle door in a failed attempt to escape, police said.

Adams’ warrant is related to felony counts of domestic battery in the presence of a child and strangulation, police said.

Seattle cop car set on fire with officer inside, man arrested

A man set a Seattle police vehicle ablaze in an alley Thursday while an officer was inside, authorities said.

The officer was in a neighborhood near the downtown area when they were alerted around 1:30 p.m. by someone concerned about a man holding what appeared to be a “torch,” Seattle police Sgt. Randy Huserik told Fox News.

A man was found with a flaming piece of lumber believed to be two-by-two feet, which he threw inside the vehicle while the officer was inside, police said.

“As officers went up to contact him, he was somehow able to get the torch into a sensitive area of the patrol car that it caught fire,” Huserick said.

Responding officers chased the man into a parking garage where they used a Taser to subdue him. One officer is believed to have opened fire but the suspect wasn’t hit, the Seattle Police Department said.

As the man was being arrested, the flames from the burning lumber engulfed the entire police vehicle. The officer inside was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening burns.

Authorities searched nearby buildings to ensure no one else was injured.

With community support like that, it’s no wonder Seattle cops are leaving in droves.

The po po don’t have time to catch the smart crooks, cause they too busy catching the dumb ones.

I have a lot of fun, with chuckles thru out, looking for these types of stories. I am honored by AW1Ed and Mason for letting me help out around the shop in this small way. As many of us here are either serving or past LEO, and others with Family and close friends that serve, we become aware of teh stoopidity that is strong with these fools…everywhere. Could probably find more if it wasn’t for those pesky pay walls that a number of newspapers have now.

Saddest part of looking for these stories is going thru crime reports and noticing that 95% are a story about Black on Black crime. Many of them inter family…”Man kills brother over card game”…”Shootout in store leads to death, victim and suspect known to one another”…”Child caught in crossfire”…”Grandparent beat and robbed by grandchild”…And so it goes.

“The employees then called police when they saw a long shotgun in one of the cars in Pope’s yard“

Now that’s a new term for me, a long shotgun? As opposed to a short one?

David

Must be one of those sniper shotguns, only made to kill at long range. Better ban ’em.

Cobrakai99

I would suspect there is something else happening on Mr Pope’s property. Spike strips, erratic behavior and shooting at drowns. Meth lab, growing operation?

assemblerhead

I heard them called ‘goose guns’.

Shotguns made for shooting high flying geese. Usually has a choke as well.

Normally I’d comment along the lines of, “This is worthless without pics.”

Normally. I’ve checked the pics of “The Black Widow Bettie” so you don’t have to.

You’re welcome.
