California’s Gavin Newsom Bans Gas-powered Vehicles, Effective 2035

| September 23, 2020

I know we’ve got some poor souls stuck in the Democrat paradise of California, so I think this is relevant.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has issued another royal decree, correction, executive order. This one requires that all new cars and passenger trucks to be zero emissions by 2035. Medium trucks and heavy duty trucks will be 100 zero emission by 2045.

The state has also set 2035 as their deadline for being 100% renewable energy. Even though this year showed the dismal failure of renewable energy to provide consistent, large-scale power. Not sure how the already severely strained power grid in CA is going to be able to support this. This is great news for the Chinese. They have no problem destroying the planet in their AO and using their citizenry as disposable to mine the rare earths required to make these so-called “zero emission” vehicles. I put it in quotes because you just move the emission from the tail pipe to some other place, like the power plant, the manufacturing plant, and so forth.

Newsom has timed this with the devastating (annual) wildfires, which he blames on global warming. It has absolutely nothing to do with the state preventing land owners from conducting controlled burns, nor does it have anything to do with the state’s poor forestry management. It’s the cars of course. He, unironically, chastises those who are in “denial about science, denial about facts” regarding the human role in climate change” while at the same time denying that wildfires have occurred for millennia before humanity settled the area and that proper forestry management can prevent or minimize wildfires.

I hope he plans on being “Governor for Life”…

This goes without saying, if you have the means to leave Commiefornia, do so expeditiously. If you don’t have the means, beg, borrow or steal them.
You’ve been warned.
FYI/IMHO (ok, not humble but honest af), the budget shortfall is going to precipitate the highest increase on income tax in history. (It’s about time CT got knocked off that list, thanks Can’tfornia!)

“Asshole of the Decade” would be more appropriate for him!

The Dead Man

For some reason I keep hearing Tool’s Aenima in my head while reading the article.

Can we pull a Looney Tunes and saw California off into the ocean?

Love that song…

It’s amazing how fast that whole state went bat-shit crazy. Even 9 years ago they had a Republican governor. I know it was Arnie and he was no super-conservative, but a Republican governor now seems unthinkable. And Pete Wilson was only 20 years ago and he was pretty conservative as I recall. Now we have unicorn-rainbow-fart powered cars and electrical grid. Even as their state has rolling blackouts. I just don’t understand why people vote Democrat still. At some point the goodies they dole out are going to dry up and then they will have nothing.

E4 Mafia '83-'87

Of course, that asshole won’t be governor in 2035 so he doesn’t care. They can’t keep the lights on in Cali now, so what are they going to do when 20M cars need to plug in at night? Build more power plants? Hardly…I’m going to start a rickshaw business in Cali starting then…any investors?

Jarhead

Would like to help you E4, but I am also seeking investors in my new business. That being carrier pigeons. Go Fly Me page up and running shortly.

JUST how the mudda-fukk are they going to keep all of those electric cars charged with all of those rolling blackouts in the PRoCA?

Ex-PH2

Newsom could do the world a favor by cutting his VERY OWN CARBON EMISSIONS and get his mouth (and ass) sewn shut.

Perhaps some day he’ll be able explain how CO2 starts fires in his magic kingdom. Where I live, it puts them out when you use the extinguisher.

Sparks

This is not going to work out well at all.

Poetrooper

Well, if they have to give up their petroleum-powered vehicles, Californicos can just ride the high-speed rail, right?

Oh wait, that was scaled back considerably by Little Gavin wasn’t it after costs ballooned from the original $33 billion to more than $100 billion in a state already facing $1.5 trillion in state debt, largely due to the nation’s largest unfunded pension obligation.

Well, perhaps they can harness up the homeless, seeing’s how they also have the nation’s largest number of them as well, and utilize all that latent energy to pull transport of some sort.

Probably be about as reliable as wind and solar…

Long ago, in a galaxy far far away I was the Bus Maintenance Director for a major transit system. We looked at the electric thing and I still read transit articles. Problem 1 is that you would have to rebuild the entire grid to handle the load. Problem 2 is that under 60F you can loose up to 40% of your range with electrics. Colder it gets the more you lose. Other than that it seems like a great idea to me.

” Colder it gets the more you lose. Other than that it seems like a great idea to me.”

So forget about using an electric car say, during Winter in Donner Pass!

I wanna see an electric Mack wheeler with a dustpan, double wings and a
sand spreader plow my road this winter.

Ex-PH2

Okay, BUT I do have the opposing argument that there are cities, e.g., New York and Chicago, that have electric buses and commuter rail and these have been in place for decades.

It works if it’s done right. It does NOT work if it is not correctly engineered.

Plug Me In has a huge population of charging stations, with most of them at gas stations and near large metro areas like NYC and Chicago and Boston, etc. If it’s already in place, as with the aforementioned commuter rail and bus systems, it works.

But it does NOT work if a witless wonder like Gov Nuisance has no idea what in the blue-eyed world he’s doing when he makes these statements. He is truly dumber than the dumbest dead rock I’ve ever run across, ever. All he will do is hasten the collapse of his own regime. And he doesn’t have a plan, just a big mouth and a lot of foolishness.

I really don’t understand the problem with all of this “renewable energy” vs Fossil fuels fight is about!? I mean fossil fuels started out as plants and animals a few million years ago so they are renewable, you just have to wait a few millions years!

I definitely agree, that California just needs to get its planning and zoning right and then worry about banning things you need (banning it first and “hoping” it will get fixed is not a solution…it is just audacity!)
When you can’t build an electric train that will reduce 50% of your emission problems, you might want to check you regulations and building issues before you ban everything you do have!

I mean Texas just built theirs! (It only took 30 years… but hey, everyone was fine with flying taking 2 hours instead of 30 minutes)!

Hondo needs to forward this dweeb the lesson that he gave us the other day

Oh, my bad…that report was filled with facts and we damn shore can’t have pesky facts coming into the equation.

E-4 Mafia 4 Life

I have 5 years left hopefully.
For those who stay, it might be good to switch to diesel with a 10 year fuel life.
And good luck outrunning a fast petrol burning car. The electrics can go really fast but not sustain.
The whole shit-show is ludicrous.
How many fire and ladder trucks can run on electricity?
How much more will food and consumables cost to ship in?
I hate this state and that hatred increases from one minute to the next.
Should have just stayed in the Army.
But 30 years ago I didn’t see the writing on the wall.

Heh….I guess in 2035 and 2045 Californians will be getting their new vehicles in Nevada….

NHSparky

Back in the 80s and early 90s they played the “CA non-compliant emissions” bullshit game with people moving into CA. Took a major lawsuit to stop that shit.

Then again, not that this is even remotely legal under current federal law, but don’t let that stop those idiots!

A Proud Infidel®™

Since when have liberals ever let the Law, the US or State Constitutions ever get in the way of their agenda?

Forrest Bondurant

Just the opposite.

Liberals take advantage of or distort laws, the U.S. and state Constitutions to meet their agenda, then ignore them or make excuses when they’re called out for abusing them.

Anonymous

Brawndo, it’s got what plants crave! (Why does Cali remind me of Idiocracy?)

Long Carl

A lot can happen in 15 years.

Will there be exceptions for the Uhaul and Ryder trucks?

“Any-twosome” Newsome is a grinning buffoon. He is a kind of Chatty-Cathy doll politician. Sometimes I think everything he says has been pre-programmed with proggie talking points and someone just has to pull his string once they get him in front of the cameras. But he has really done wonders for Commiefornia. /s

11B-Mailclerk

Wasn’t he supposed to first issue the Executive Order mandating the unicorn-fart-powered “renewable” baseload generation system? You know, the one needed to charge all the vehicles?

And the tax on home electricity to replace the “highway” fuel tax? And the taxes to fund the subsidies needed for “price parity” on electric vehicles?

Oh, right. Those might “confuse” people into thinking this is all political scam.

Slow Joe

California can be turned around with a good pro free market, small gruberment and rule of law governor.

What will it take for Californians to take the red pill?

The Other Whitey

A major housecleaning of the copious amounts of election fraud that take place here, and/or splitting off LA, San Franshitsco, and Berkeley. Both of which would be met with much rejoicing.

The Other Whitey

When I saw this last night, all I could think of was “God, I HATE that fucking asshole!”

The recall effort is ongoing. I’ve collected some signatures myself.

I want to see the specs on the battery truck that has to respond along with the pumper and the tanker to keep the water flowing long enough to put out a major fire. Maybe the city/county/state can install a special underground electric grid to plug the pumper up to along with the fire hydrants, give a whole new meaning to the term “dual lay”.

Berliner

While not quite as “woke” as Californicate, Washington state legislature imposed and Gov Jay “it’s the science!/climate change!!” Inslee approved an additional $75.00 annual registration fee on Hybrid cars to fund plug-in chargers for electric cars.

99% of hybrid cars generate their own electricity by coasting down hills or regenerative braking and cannot plug in to a charger.

Gov Inslee recently made the news by picking apples from trees at the Governors Mansion in Olympia and taking them to eastern Washington and handing them out. It was later discovered they contained apple maggots.

It is a misdemeanor to transfer apples from western Washington to the eastern counties due to a quarantine. Eastern Washington produces 70% of the US apple crop.
