By: Philip Joens and Robin Opsahl
A 16-year-old robbery suspect is dead after being shot by a man in self-defense, Des Moines police said Monday.

Around 5:48 a.m., two people were shot in the 1400 block of 13th street, Des Moines police spokesman Sgt. Paul Parizek said. The caller told police he was approached by two armed men who attempted to rob him, Parizek said in a video news release.

The man shot them in self-defense, Parizek said. 16-year-old Des Moines resident Liem Deng died due to the gunshot injury. The other suspect, another 16-year-old Des Moines resident, is hospitalized and expected to survive.

The two teenagers, armed with handguns, approached a small group of people and attempted to rob them, according to the news release.

One of the people in the group approached was a concealed-carry permit holder, Parizek said, who shot in self-defense.

Homeowner fatally stabs man during St. Pete break-in
The dead man had sneaked out of a group home a block away. It’s unlikely charges will be filed, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A homeowner early Monday stabbed and killed a 23-year-old man who had mental disabilities after the man sneaked out of a group home around the corner.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner stabbed the man in self-defense and will likely not face charges.

Early Monday, Chase Richardson, a resident of Savannah House at 6881 40th Ave. N, got into an argument with another resident. Staff members separated them. Richardson went to his room, slammed and locked the door.

Staff members were able to unlock the door but not before Richardson slipped out a window, detectives said. A staff member left to go find him.

Richardson walked a block east to the 4000 block of 68th Street. A number of people living in the area called 911 to report that a man was yelling and banging on their doors and windows.

“You could put someones eye out with that thing kid”

The Des Moines article kinda caught my eye cause the perp had an Asian Name. I know it happens, but you gotta admit, it’s rare. ‘Specially in “flyover country”. More the pity.

St Pete is eat up with people having “mental disabilities”. And no where near enough of them are in a group home, or any kind of “home”. Most are in the checkout lines at Wally’s Mart.

Baby Girl’s Red Ryder that I got for her when she was 8 was “not here the ex said” after that final divorce. Odd how that, a repop Colt’s .44 old Army, a Pocket Police in .36, and a S&W Model 19 Trooper in .38 couldn’t be found. Other than that, I have lived quite large and well since shedding myself of that albatross. Slipped my mind to celebrate 14 years of freedom the 8th of this month.

Liem Deng!! If his last name was Dung, then you could really call him a piece of shit.
