‘Wild’ Florida man fatally shot in bizarre home invasion
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd hailed school bus driver as hero

A “wild, totally out of control” ex-con was shot dead after he crashed his car into a fence, tried to climb onboard a school bus, jumped on two cars and then broke into a house, a Florida sheriff said.The bizarre incident happened just before dawn Friday morning in Polk City.
The man who killed Mayson Armando Ortiz-Vazquez, 45, of Orlando, acted to protect his family, including his 9-year-old child, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, according to the Lakeland Ledger.
“They were trying to control him inside the house,” Judd said, according to the paper. “He grabbed the glass that didn’t break when he broke in and threw it at the homeowner. And that is when they shot him, and he went down.”
Ortiz-Vazquez went to Polk City to buy drugs, according to the paper.
“This has meth written all over it,” Judd said, the paper reported. “At 6:10 this morning, he goes totally wild, totally out of control. Very dangerous and he does a home invasion. … This was a very frightening event today.”

An Adams County judge failed to read the entirety of the relevant Colorado law to jurors in a homicide trial, which caused the Court of Appeals on Thursday to throw out the defendant’s second degree murder conviction.“Because the definition provided to the jury failed to track the language of the statutory deadly weapon definition — indeed, it omitted a significant and material portion of the statutory definition — it was erroneous,” wrote Judge Michael H. Berger for the three-member panel.
According to court documents, Cesar Reyes-Marquez was working at an auto body shop in July 2010 when he and a coworker learned about a fight involving employees of a neighboring business. Angered, the coworker went to that business and began throwing bottles at the shop and the vehicle of one of the employees.
Gabriel Campos, Servando Morelos-Avila and Hugo Perada-Lopez heard the commotion and confronted the man. There was an altercation, which resulted in Reyes-Marquez shooting and killing Morelos-Avila. The other two men survived their gunshots.

Now someone needs to horsewhip that judge. I think the young lady with the boomstick on the boat could use that on the judge to some advantage.

The Colorado Trial? Sounds like there shouldn’t have ever been a trial. But here we are, 10 years after the event.
One of our miscreanted d’weeds made the comment the other day that a friend had some issues with Mr. Kahr’s products. The only problem I ever had with my K40 is it didn’t have the floatation/swimming ability to survive the tragedy of the leaky boat crossing the flooded quicksand lake during the hurrinado/tornacane.
The Ms Thang shot comes real close to getting you some slack for the fugly little guns and the very fugly little dinghy boat of the week past. Woulda been better if she was standing up on them luscious looking legs and that Gatlin’ Gun was kicking up some spray.
Good to see Graybeard up and about this early of a morning. Glad that the Laura storm seems to have spared our Texican and Arkansan weeds/weedettes. Saw the blurb on the talking heads this morning, they were grilling President Trump asking if he thought the storms were worse now than before due to gorebull warming. SMDH!

We had a line of thunder bumpers come through the day after Laura messed with our Louisiana friends and neighbors. 2.5″ rain, but the lightening scored at least two direct hits on our power lines, fried Favorite First D-i-L’s modem and blew the protection on our surge protectors. Spent all day yesterday trying to fix ours, and her parents ordered a new modem for her. (Out here in the sticks we only have [moan] AT&T DSL – try finding replacement parts.)
Several folks in Louisiana have lost entire houses, some are being told don’t return unless you can be entirely self-supporting for 20+ days. We have refuges in our local schools (don’t ask me how that plays out with school back in session – dunno).
Our EMS chainsaw crews are busy further E trying to help clean up. Lots of work to do.

I mentioned also that I bought a defective Kahr, so I have the sales slip/trade (Delray Shooting Center) in front of me for the Kahr PM .45 which was on 12/13/08, which I got the Springfield XD .40 SC. on the trade in. I forgot to mention that I bought the Kahr a week before and a week later on 12/13 I brought it to the range (Delray Shooting Center) to try it out with the heavy recoil spring that needed 2 men and a boy to rack the slide. After firing a few rounds through it, the mag kept falling out and I made the gun safe and I noticed that a square 3 8ths of an inch piece was missing from the rear of the slide and looking down, I saw it on the floor and showed the owners son and right away he offered to give me my money back so I told him that I’d be satisfied on a trade in which I did. I think that he thought that I dropped it but he could have looked at the cameras. When I bought it the sales person told me how strong the spring was BUT I took a chance instead of opting for something else. I called a person I knew from the Freeport LI NY Police Range club where I was a member and after telling him the story he said the Kahr had a quality control problem at the time. When I phoned a friend of mine who was inside LBFD Station 2 one Sunday, I told him about the Kahr and the Engine 2 Capt. who heard part of the conversation tells my friend that one of the CO’s at the Nassau County Jail where he also worked as a CO had a Kahr with problems. This was back in 2008 12 years ago.
