bikers ride down Main Street in downtown Sturgis, S.D.,

before the 76th Sturgis motorcycle rally officially begins.

This one’s for our WOT firster, 5th/77th hisself.

It’s the live camera view at Sturgis.  https://kstp.com/news/live-video-motorcyclists-begin-to-gather-in-sturgis-south-dakota/5820107/

There are several different camera angles, with the arrow <- to putz, to start the video, but the town of Sturgis, SD, is expecting about 250,000 this time, and the city council and the town’s residents are very concerned about how this will affect them personally in regard to the invasion of the coronavirus pandemic thing.  And what about food supplies and bathroom facilities? Does Sturgis always attract this big a crowd, or is it just our rebelliousness as Americans, used to moving about freely and at will, that is propelling this?

https://kstp.com/news/sturgis-rally-still-a-go-in-south-dakota-as-many-as-250000-people-expected-to-attend-august-3-2020/5815528/

I’d be concerned, also, if they really are expecting that big a crowd.

BUT:  This is what happens when you tell people raised in a free country that they can’t have their freedom ‘because I said so’, as spouted by fearful control freaks who detest real freedom.

Normal Sturgis crowd runs two to three times that. Consider this an off year. People rent their YARDS out to bikers to camp in… Sturgis essentially makes most of its disposable income in 10 days each year.

I wonder if Alaska Bob made it in?

That loser is a disease vector in himself.

Mitigation is always a surefire cure.

MarineDad61

The Bob Glaves Harley
should be running great, up for the trip,
especially since DONORS paid for his 2019 motorcycle repairs.
Oh, yeah…
DONORS who thought they were donating for something else,
NOT his motorcycle.

Green Thumb

He probably is sitting in some roadside bar drinking up he donation money.

Slow Joe

Where is Alaska Bob?

Still waiting for his DD 214?

rgr769

That’s why the cancer hasn’t killed him yet. He is struggling to stay alive long enough to get those records that prove TAH wrong about his military service.

Green Thumb

As he drinks up that donation money.

KoB

Alaska Bob is still trying to get into “Kelly’s Canyon.” He may need the help of a product used on a summer’s eve…or the bag it goes in.

Wireman611

I just got a fresh jug of Orville Redenbacher’s, a pound of real popcorn salt, and a pound of butter with the maiden on it. Just waiting for the buses of Antifa to pull in. Gonna need more beer though.

Friend

We got sick of POPCORN so we make Chex Mix and trail mix for Stolen Valor and this crap.

AW1Ed

Beef jerky, Steppenwolf’s Greatest Hits on the music machine.

Just let the Antifa maggots try to infest and see how many pieces each of them gets torn into!!

Anyone who has spent time in downtown Da Nang
knows that Sturgis is a small gathering of bikes.
Be nice to see a few Lambrettas show up with
the entire family aboard. Maybe a few chickens
and a pig or two.

Dan

Wear a mask in close confines, wash hands and brush your teeth. You’ll be fine.

Tanks for the nod M’Lady, somebody pays attention to my ramblings…Bless your Heart. rgr769 and another DW or 3 should weigh in on this. They’ve been to the Rally, during the Rally. I’ve been in Sturgis pre Rally, but some may recall that my Brother is in Black Hawk and has been in the area for a total of 30+ years and is well familiar with what goes on. I know enough to be dangerous. My original plan for this summer, laid out in the summer of 2017, was to have been at the Rally this year…on either a Harley of Gold Wing Trike. Brain going flat and the medical retirement took the trike part out of the equation but the trip was still on. The Chinesecommunist Originated Virus Infecting Disease of 2019 killed the trip. Still pissed over that. Woulda had free room and board too. Let’s take the article. FIRST of all 250K is a small gathering for that event. That’s about 1/2 of the average. 5 years ago it was nearly 800K. Secondly, that whole crowd won’t be there at the same time. This crowd is ALWAYS spread out over the whole 10 day period. Lots of day and overnight trippers. Only a small handful go for the entire time. Hardcore! In addition to the limited facilities in Sturgis itself, the price of EVERYTHING within a 200 mile radius gets rather spendy, big surprise huh? You talking some serious coinage. Thirdly, big crowd from Minnesota? Yeah, not gonna happen this time. Look at a map, it’s 400+ miles across South Dakota from Mogeshitota, smart money will have them staying home this year. Got a niece and her family there that have gone in the past and have a nice camper and family in SD. They’re not going. Hey, once you’ve been to Piggy Park and dodged STDs, no need to chance the Commie Flu. Many of the locals will go to other areas during this time frame, just to avoid the crowds. Others will rent yards, garages and their houses to semi trustworth folks for large wads… Read more »

The last time turnout at Sturgis was this low was when I was there (riding a Honda ST1100) in August, 2009. That year there were only about 350,000 participants because of the Great 0bama Recession.

Slow Joe

Who recommended Yuengling?
I think it was Hondo.

I bought and it is horrible.
Worst light beer I have tried in a while.

I hope the regular Yeingling is better.

Chinese beer sucks.

Hondo

Um, Slow Joe . . . Yuengling is 100% American. In fact, it’s the oldest continuously operating brewery in the USA (they began operation in 1829, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania).

IMO comparing Bud Light to Yuengling is like comparing, well, horse p!ss (from a horse with bad kidneys) to good beer. And it ain’t Yuengling that’s the horse p!ss analog.

But hey: to each his/her own. Enjoy your horse p!ss Bud Light if that’s what you prefer. (smile)

A Proud Infidel®™

I’m also a fan of Yvengling and their “Black & Tan” as well. I’ve always seen Pud (*OOPS!*, Bud) as the typical first choice of college freshmen!

“…Bud Light…

A Proud Infidel®™

Slow Joe, maybe you should try Coors Banquet (NOT Light) and see if that’s even too much for your virgin tastebuds? I suggest you try some Samuel Adams because YOU HAVE NO HAIR ON YOUR ASS if you don’t, young’un!!!

11B-Mailclerk

If you like Budweiser beers, try Iron City Beer or IC Light. Before I quit, I much preferred Iron City.

HMCS(FMF) ret

I’ve had Iron City Beer before… good stuff!

26Limabeans

Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA.
You only need one.

Hondo

Torp is quite a good IPA. And at 7.5% ABV, yeah – you probably should quit at one if you plan on doing much else later in the day.

Hondo

What, no love for Samuel Smith’s “Celebrated Oatmeal Stout”? (smile)

Eggs

I’m kind of partial to Left Hand Brewing Nitro Milk Stout.

Pour hard!!

Only Army Mom

Nope, prefer the LHBC Milk Stout, not the Nitro version. It’s like Guinness Nitro, i.e., both are for those who either can’t handle or don’t know about the full-flavor originals.

Fyrfighter

Hahaha. They’re actually the same beers, they just carbonate one (Co2), and pressurize the other with nitrogen. The only difference that makes is that the bubbles generated by the nitro are much smaller, which makes for a creamier mouthfeel…
Yeah, that’s what happens when you’re a brewer….

Eggs

I have two wheat beers in the fridge – Lost Coast Tangerine and Golden Road Mango Cart. Very refreshing on these warm Arizona days.

Hondo

Never have found a weissbier I particularly liked (tried several).

Hondo

Seriously, Slow Joe: to each his own. If you like Bud Light, go ahead and “enjoy”. It’s your money and your taste buds.

Just be advised that it’s generally not considered a particularly good example of the brewing art.

5th/77th FA

You basically have 3 kinds of coldbeer; you gots your canned, your bottled, and your kegged. Then there is bud lite. It can’t be horse piss because no self respecting horse would drink that.

Green Thumb

I wonder if this loser will show up as well?

Kieth “The Big Turd” Keeton.

https://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=39673

And who knows, maybe he will have Phildo in his sidecar.

Green Thumb

That Poser supporting North Florida MC will be rolling hard….

HMCS(FMF) ret

Oh, yea… the “Chihuahua”

Green Thumb

The “Big Turd” Kieth Keeton here used to ride with Phildo in that poser-supporting North Florida MC.

When his BS came to light, he got the boot. But not Phildo as Phildo was buying the drinks.

Old “Big Turd” here hates Phildo with a passion.

No loyalty among poses, huh?

Claw

Ah, the injustice of it all. My Army son spent nearly 6 1/2 months in the Sandbox during DS/DS and received the SWASM w/2BSS.

Meanwhile, the Big Dawg Turd Keeton spent 11 days going from Germany to the Sandbox to have his Bar To Re-Enlistment formally read to him and (according to the FOIA) was awarded that same SWASM w/2BSS.

Life just ain’t right, sometimes./s

Green Thumb

I spoke with “The Big Turd” Kieth Keeton once.

Back when he was threatening people using RECON93.

I told him he should take some pride as many posers do not get awarded a nickname.

As you can expect, it did not go over very well.

This clown is delusional and really believes that the General was real.
