Homeowner shot home invasion suspects near Ithaca, state police say

By Chris Libonati
Enfield, N.Y. — A Tompkins County homeowner stopped an attempted home invasion by shooting two men who tried to break into his home, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers responded to the home on Rumsey Hill Road in Enfield at 7:21 a.m. Saturday, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Two people broke into the house, police said. The homeowner told them to leave but shot them when they refused, police said.

The two men fled and a third man drove them to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, police said.

One shot, one DRT Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. Impressive without being stabbed in the neck.

OK, I want to know more about this, Gun Bunny, and if you don’t spill, I will post a recipe for cornbread that will make you drool. All you have to do is send the info to the inimitable Admins people and they will forward same to me.

Quick linky to Mason. Got a serious search on for the hard copies/pdf that was printed out a good while back. The computer that had most of the data crashed the hard drive and the disc that it was backed up on is not compatible with anything available now. Modern technology, ain’t it wonderful? Lot to be said for a ink pen and a Blue Horse Notebook.

I had always believed the press that Patton just carried a 1911 (with Ivory Grips)…guess I need to talk to our historian a little more. I can see him carrying matching colts, on e on each hip, but wonder what he did with the odd sized revolvers? Did GSP carry them on the hip as well (different gun strong side versus non-dominant) or did he tuck them away so people just did not know how well armed he was?

Story is he carried a Peacemaker and a .357 Magnum (they didn’t give them a model number then, just the name), both with ivory grips because “only pimps used pearl grips”. The N-frame .357 later was called the Model 27. There was a less polished version called the Model 28, and later courtesy of a fella named Bill Jordan they brought out a smaller-framed K-frame .357 which was known as the Model 19, probably the best-selling single .357 in history.
