Fundraiser, Part Two

| July 21, 2020

Makes the gears turn…

First of all, a most deeply heartfelt ‘Thank you!’ for all of the generous donations. Because of your kindness, the sister sites of MP/TAH/VG will upgrade to our own dedicated server instead of shared (huge!), and have saved funds by paying annual costs up front. This is the smart way to handle these costs, and because of all y’all’s largess we now can.

With the new server and annual costs taken care of, there remains one more item that requires attention- pay domain renewals. These occur periodically, and we want to keep using our domain name and the services associated with it. To accomplish this we need to renew the domain name registration prior to its expiration, which of course costs.

So those considering taking another bite at the apple, on the fence about donating, or concerned about what is enough, please, give what you can. Not ’till it hurts or breaks the bank, but whatever you see fit. Every nickle will go to the care and feeding of the place, if not up front then kept as a buffer against hard weather ahead.

Y’all know me, and know I’d never ask any to do what I wouldn’t, so please join me in tickling the Donate option of your choice, top right on the home page. You have our absolutely deepest appreciation for your generous support. Thanks again.

The Soviet needs new shoes…

HMCS(FMF) ret

How much do they cost? I’ll buy her 20 pair!

penguinman000

Was I at least 1st on the 2nd round of donations?

sbalm

2nd only to someone that had an inside track.

We need to get a ruling…

Judges say we can call it first.

To quote Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights:

Ricky Bobby: If you ain’t first, you’re last.

He also said…

Ricky Bobby: Well let me just quote the late-great Colonel Sanders, who said…”I’m too drunk to taste this chicken.”

Check the admin email for the check in the snail mail. God forbid that the Soviet be running around barefooted. Summertime she’ll be needing a nice slingback heel with an open toe.

And for a change how about get a bottle of top shelf whiskey and a box of decent seegars for the day room?

Where do I mail the Bourbon?

Slow Joe

If you were to post the expected size of the donations I would have an idea if my donation earlier this year, I think it was in March, covers the whole year or not.

Dave Hardin

A dime or nothing at all covers your donation here. You already paid for your lifetime membership long before you ever posted here.

There is no obligation for anyone to donate anything. We have bills like any other organization.

It takes upwards of $30,000 a year to pay all the expenses. Hosting all the domains, Professional Licensing, Insurance, Attorney Fees, Internet, Phones, Continuing Education requirements, tax prep, PI software renewals, and probably a host of other things.

What we do not collect in donations to the cause several of us pay out of pocket every year. Its always been that way.

We are NOT a registered Non-Profit organization and have no intention of becoming one. You can not deduct what you donate to us from your taxes.

What you send us is just burned in the shitter as a manner of speaking.

There have been times in the past when “We” have had to cough up 6 digits for legal fees etc.

As the custodians of over a decade of SV work, it is our responsibility to preserve that effort for generations to come.

I am and always have been humbled by the participation of so many of you.

The GREATEST DONATION ANYONE CAN MAKE IS PARTICIPATING IN THE FIGHT AGAINST STOLEN VALOR.

Thank you, each and every one of you. I wish it were possible to send the Soviet to hug you all individually.

I wish it were possible to send the Soviet to hug you all individually.

Some of us would be willing to come to her.

5th/77th FA

I’ll Drive, get in.

Mason

I only have one condition. You can’t talk about the Weekend Open Thread firsts. 😉

Thunderstixx

I’m closing on a house on August 4’Th.
So until payday at the end of August, I am flat broke.
But, I will gladly pitch in again just for the pleasure of reading the best Milblog on the interwebz !!!
Thanks for all you do and the rest of you that keep the place interesting, a little smelly at times, but always interesting !!!
BTW, I’m claiming FIRST on the Friday afternoon WOT !!!
PFFFFFTTTTTT!!!!!

5th/77th FA

Claim? I claim that Scarlett Johansson, Dana Delany, and Catherine Zeta Jones take turns having their way with me. Don’t mean it’s gonna happen.

But you may have at least a fighting chance at the Coveted Earned (Never Awarded) TAH Friday Weekend End Open Thread FIRST. I may and or may not be on the net this Friday. Catherine called…she misses me.

UpNorth

Catherine didn’t call you, she just told me that. Maybe it was Rosie O’Donnell?

5th/77th FA

Naw, not Rosie. She’s not on speaking terms with me anymore. She found out (from Dana) that not only is mine bigger than hers, mine’s real. Coulda been Scarlett that called, she likes it when I play Rhett. She enjoys being kissed…and often…by someone who knows how.

UpNorth

Well, if there were no vibration noises in the background, it probably wasn’t Rosie.

Hit the donation button a couple of minutes ago and doubled my monthly donation so the Soviet can buy shoe polish for a keen looking Mil Spec spit shine on her new shoes. As a new comer to the site, I’m glad to help out.

Dave Hardin

Don’t give her ideas. She will not be “Out Shoed” by Melania on her next trip to the WH.

A few of you were there last time and understand what I mean.

Dave Hardin

On a serious note, those monthly recurring donations really, really, really, make a huge difference.

It helps so much for budget purposes.

Thank you.

Mason

Wait. I’ve been writing these articles for free?

Dave Hardin

U can right?

Mason

I’m in too deep. I’ve set a precedent.

Skippy

The skippy clan or crew will be making a donation
If we ever get our income tax check
No damn idea why it’s taking forever this year

OWB

If one of you admin types are so inclined, send me an email next week with a snail mail addie. Next week because I am doing some surgery in the morning and will likely not be inclined to look at a checkbook until next week.

And my canine buddy “Eagle” crossed over to the other side this morning. Some of you miscreants met him along the way. He traveled to a Run for the Wall, some counter protests here and there, and a few veteran reunions. He was a great traveling companion.

HMCS(FMF) ret

My condolences on the lost of your four legged friend…

5th/77th FA

Sympathies offered up in the loss of your canine buddy, Eagle, OWB. He’ll be waiting for you on the other side. Get past your surgeries and make a space in your heart for a rescue that needs a good home. It’s the best way to pay Honors to Eagle’s Memory. I had a traveling companion that, except for one 2 week period, was with me 24/7/365 for 11 years. Lost that one in Nov ’06…still hurts. But since then have made a home for several more that needed somebody to love.

Continued prayers for a steady hand on the surgeon, a Dana Delany looking nurse, and a quick recovery.

26Limabeans

Sorry for your loss. I miss my dogs awful.
A dog will not lie to you and will stand by
your side nomatter the circumstance.

Hello, I see a Daniel Borunda. Is he really fake??

Honor and Courage

Tagged you for $50.00 this AM. Keep up the excellent work. The site does have some AHs but that’s everywhere. I think it will get worse before it gets better!

Old tanker

I threw in a few sheckles from TX to keep the good stuff rolling on. This place is a daily morning visit routine for me and I’d love to see it stay open.

Inbred Redneck

Still hopin’ to to get a mail address to send some green.
