President Trump Denies Minnesota $500 Million to Repair Riot Damages

| July 13, 2020

As the George Floyd protests and riots got underway, Minnesota’s governor did not take immediate decisive action. President Trump offered to deploy the National Guard to help Minnesota address the emergency. Minnesota’s governor dragged his feet and did not take action until it was too late. On the local level, the Minneapolis City Council initiated a move to de-fund the police. Result? When Minnesota’s governor requested that the president declare a state of emergency for Minnesota, President Trump denied it.

From the Washington Examiner:

“If the federal government is expected to assist in the clean-up of these unfortunate weeks, it has an obligation to every American — prior to the release of funding — to fully understand the events which allowed for this level of destruction to occur and ensure it never happens again,” Rep. Tom Emmer wrote to the Trump administration in a letter.

Another congressman, Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, praised the Trump administration’s decision to reject Minnesota’s request, placing blame on the local officials who told the police to stand down during the rioting.

“Great news! @realDonaldTrump has DENIED Minnesota’s disaster request to repair half a billion dollars in damage from the riots,” Duncan tweeted. “Governors and Mayors who ordered police to stand down and watch their cities burn shouldn’t get a penny in taxpayer aid!”

Let folks run riot is not an “Accident”.

It is an “intentional”.

Prosecutions should be the result, not payouts, for all the civil rights violations inherent in aiding and abetting lynch mobs.

Slow Joe

They can call back the rioters, and ask them to clean up and pay for the rebuilt.

Skippy

This makes complete sense to me

You break it, you bought it.

I was trying to think of a pithy post, but brother, you nailed it and countersunk it too.

Donald Trump’s response was stunning and brave.

He spoke truth to power.

I myself find it interesting how the prissyassed liberal Hollywierd snowflakes donated all kinds of money yo bail the rioting maggots out of jail while not donating even a penny to help out those whose businesses and livelihoods were wiped out by the maggots!

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO the State of Minnesota and Minneapolis politicians asking for everyone else to wipe their asses for them is akin to someone burning their own house down and demanding that the Neighbors pay to rebuild it. After all, the local pols DID allow the fleabag maggots to run amok! I bet Ilhan Omar looks through the destroyed neighborhoods and feels right at home among it!

rgr769

Yeah, it looks just like the major city in the shithole country (Somalia), from which we gave her and her family refugee status.

Good. The mayor ordered the evacuation of the 3rd PCT, leaving cops behind to fend for themselves against the mob. This building was subsequently looted and destroyed.

The governor had ample opportunity to quell the riots with the NG. He didn’t. His limp-wristed response led to more damage.

There’s no reason the federal government should be giving them any money. Actions have consequences. These people elected leaders who wanted to roll over and let the violent mob destroy the city.

26Limabeans

The cops should have Alamo’d the place.
You know, set a good example for others.
Then put up a memorial in it’s place.
You know, history for all to learn from.

Flakpup

Memorials don’t seem to be working well with the ignorant… they would just tear it down without bothering to comprehend it. Of course it is possible that they simply lack the necessary capacity to even comprehend the knowledge required for such informed decisions. In that case they are simply deserving of our pity and, for our and their own safety, should be kept away from sharp things and matches.

“There are things which cannot be taught in ten easy lessons, nor popularized for the masses; they take years of skull sweat. This be treason in an age when ignorance has come into its own and one man’s opinion is as good as another’s.” — Glory Road – Robert Heinlein

E4 Mafia '83-'87

Whoa, whoa, whoa…they were peaceful protets, right? Don Ley-mon on CNN said they were peaceful. Madcow Maddow said they were peaceful. Morning Joe said they peaceful. Sissy Stelter said they were peaceful.
I can’t see sending federal dollars to cleaning up “peaceful protests”.

Fyrfighter

That madcow is one UGLY dude! and dumber than a bag of hair!

E4 Mafia '83-'87

Agreed, but I think AOC is dumbest person in politics to date. She makes mental midgets like Mad Maxine and Farticus look like rocket scientists.

The Other Whitey

If it was all so peaceful, then why the hell do they need so much money to rebuild?

Slow Joe

But, think of the children!!11

Millions of Minnesotan children will now go to bed with an empty stomach.

Children Lives Matter ™

SgtBob

Because, after all our children are our future, and we need to fund villages run amok so the children are properly raised. Or something.

26Limabeans

It takes a village to raise an idiot

Doc Savage

It takes an idiotic village to burn its own village down.

Fyrfighter

Here’s a question, if they were “peaceful protests” why is cleanup required?

All the Pro-Second Amendment protests I’ve seen left the areas cleaner than they were before the protests…

A Proud Infidel®™

DITTO with all of the Tea Party rallies I took part in. And the LEOs present? They got treated respectfully and soon looked like they didn’t mind being there!

Mason

I did enjoy that video of the 2A protest a while back where the guys kitted out in their boogaloo tactical gear policing up garbage. Far cry from the “peaceful” BLM protesters who torch squad cars, smash windows, and throw firebombs.

Sorry Minnesota. You took a giant shit on your living room carpet, I ain’t cleaning it up.

Oh, that obviously confused mayor of Minneapolis is just going to take the time to throw a fit & sit in it now. She will put the entire burden of her mistake on the taxpaying residents of that – – – -hole city, and it will all end up being someone else’s fault that she let it happen.

26Limabeans

They should raise the sales tax….oh, wait…there aren’t
any stores left to buy stuff from.

FC2(SW) Ron

Good.

LazarusLong

I want to hear the President tell the other cities and states that engaged in the rioting and non-response the same same thing. When the citizens/ residents/business owners find themselves footing the repair bills those politicians won’t be long in office. Hell, they might have to resign and run for their lives. I’d imagine many businesses are already covered by insurance for vandalism and arson etc… Burned cars are also insured. What is the 500 million dollars going to go for ? My bet is that most of it would go into Democrat wallets.

Berliner

They are badly in need of more social justice programs to counter the bad thoughts, real and imagined./s

11B-Mailclerk

Many auto policies do not cover riots. If the car is paid off, and old, many poor folks don’t carry insurance for damage. Most policies have significant deductibles.

Many businesses are renters, not owners. Their inventory on hand is mostly uninsured.

For the little folks, the riots are catastrophic.

As intended. Can’t have a revolution without desperate disgruntled masses. Cant have a Revolution if anyone sees a way up. Those Kulacks/Bourgeois Are In The Way Of The Radiant Future And Must -Go-.
