Texas clerk dodges bullet, fatally shoots robbery suspect trying to pass counterfeit bill
“Luckily and fortunately for the convenience store clerk, he had a gun with him,” Houston Police Sgt. J. Horn said.

By Danielle Wallace
A Texas corner store clerk shot and killed a robbery suspect Monday night who allegedly first fired at him after trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill, according to reports.

The Houston Police Department responded to calls about a robbery taking place at the Super Qwik Food Store off Fulton Street and Julia near the North Freeway around 10 p.m.

By the time officers arrived at the scene, a man had been shot and was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

“Luckily and fortunately for the convenience store clerk, he had a gun with him. He was able to return fire,” Houston Police Sgt. J. Horn told KHOU. “The suspect or the robber collapsed here at the store. He was transported to the hospital where he died later.”

The man, who has not been identified by authorities, allegedly tried to use a counterfeit $20 to make a purchase, but the clerk told him he could not accept the bill, KTRK reported.

Police said the robbery suspect then made his way into the clerk’s secured area, pulled out a gun and fired at him at least once within close range, narrowly missing him.

14-year-old boy fatally shot in robbery attempt

By: Vic Ryckaert
A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot after he tried to rob someone near the Canal Walk in Downtown Indianapolis early Monday, police say.

The Marion County coroner’s office on Monday identified the boy as Curtis White Jr.

“According to investigators, it appears the 14-year-old was trying to rob the alleged shooter,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Samone Burris said in an email to IndyStar Monday.

The shooting suspect remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, Burris said. Police also interviewed several witnesses.

The incident, among more than a dozen area shootings over the weekend, happened shortly after 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Ellsworth Street, which is on the canal north of West Michigan Street and Indiana Avenue.

Officers found White wounded by apparent gunshots. Medics took him to an area hospital, where he later died.

A large group of juveniles were in the area at the time of the shooting, officials said. Officers were already patrolling nearby after receiving multiple disturbance calls, police said.

Port St. Lucie police say woman hit by vehicle shoots driver through windshield

By: Will Greenlee
PORT ST. LUCIE — Port St. Lucie police are investigating a weekend incident in which a man is accused of driving a vehicle at a woman, who then shot the man in the chest, according to police on Monday.

The incident happened about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of Southwest Rosardo Street, said Senior Sgt. Lisa Marie Carrasquillo, police spokeswoman. The location is west of Florida’s Turnpike near Southwest Port St. Lucie and Southwest Tulip boulevards.

Carrasquillo said no arrests have been made, and the man is expected to recover.

Investigators determined an argument happened between a man and woman. The man reportedly saw two women unpacking a vehicle and attacked one of the women.

The other woman went inside for help, and a third woman came out with a gun.

I miss Apu. Love convenience store hot dogs. Robbing a Houston bodega is just plain stupid; these guys are armed to the teeth!

Hopefully he didn’t leave any progeny behind, that this is a case of cleaning out the gene pool.

^word^ Tox, everyone except the ones responsible will be blamed, ie…the parent(s), the perp himself, his peers, none of them are to blame. Society as a whole is at fault. This was one of the layover stops for the return journey. Cool place to visit, lots to see and do. Even got some Confederate Veterans buried alongside their Union Counterparts in the city Cemetery. -flintlock- pistols are the proper arm for the settling of irreconcilable differences between gentlemen.

Uh, but percussion is so much more reliable. I’d hate to be the poor bastard who died in a duel because of a “flash in the pan.”

The inlaid silver, hand tooled, in the mahogany case, Wogdon & Barton .54 cal Flintlocks were taken by Kilpatrick after GGGrandma used them to kill 2 of ‘Cump’s Bummers back in ’64. She filed a claim afterwards and got them back only to have to sell them to that JP Morgan fellow in order to pay the Carpetbagger Taxes. We’ve had to make do with the everyday dueling pistols since then. Oh, alas, if only Uncle Alexander had of set the trigger that fateful morning, that dastardly Burr would have been rotting in the ground that much longer.

  4. MI Ranger says:

The armed women was quite sure of herself, she stood her ground even when he jumped in his car and drove after her. She was so sure of herself she took careful aim and shot him in the chest through the windshield. However she had not practiced enough at shooting through windshields and did not adjust enough to take in to count the bullet deflection due to striking a surface at an angle, so he survived.

    • David says:

yeah, but at least she used enough gun. A .38 or .380 can bounce off a slanted windshield.

    • AW1Ed says:

      MI Ranger,
Unless one is a Super SWAT HRT Secret Squirrel Ops type, I doubt anyone gets “through the windshield” training on anything like a regular basis. Too expensive for regular Joes to start, or so I would think. Classroom theory, sure. A practical application? Not so much.
