Armed citizen shoots would-be robber in Opry Mills parking lot

By : Nikki McGee, Julia Palazzo, Brittney Baird
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An armed citizen shot a man who attempted to rob him in the Opry Mills parking lot Wednesday night.

Metro police were called to the shopping center around 7:15 p.m.

The suspect approached the victim with a revolver and demanded his belongings, according to Metro police. The victim then reportedly pulled out a handgun in self-defense and shot the suspect in the knee.

Metro police said the suspect ran away and was found in front of the Opryland Hotel a short time later. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Anti-Police Rioters Finally Got Me To Buy My First Gun
With weak mayors and powerless police, we have little choice but to take our safety into our own hands.

By Greg Jones
I bought a gun last weekend. It’s not a purchase I wanted to make, and I pray I never have to use it, but with mayhem recently engulfing cities across the United States, I and many others are biting the bullet and purchasing firearms.

Mine is a Springfield 9mm — something small enough to fit in my nightstand or under my driver’s seat should I have to visit one of America’s many war-torn cities. But it’s powerful enough to do the job.

I’ve pondered the purchase for years but always found a reason to put it off. The carnage that has rocked the country over the last couple of weeks, however, sealed the deal. After all, I have a duty to protect my family as best I can, and when the government’s protections begin to break down, a firearm becomes my only option.

It’s not that I have anything against guns — quite the opposite. I’m a big believer in the Second Amendment and have defended Americans’ right to bear arms in writing. But guns were such a fixture of my youth that, like a kid forced by overzealous parents to play baseball year after year, I walked away at my first opportunity.

My father was an independent gun dealer who had me shooting my Chipmunk rifle at four years old, and my mom’s second husband was an avid hunter and gun collector. By the time I was 17, I had shot nearly every gun imaginable, from derringer and Desert Eagle pistols to SKS rifles.

I suppose I enjoyed it all at one point, but it’s been 20 years since I fired a live round. I will be heading to the range this week to correct that error.

Love the Contender. I have an early one with various
calibers and barrels. The one barrel I would love to
shoot is the .45 ACP but the stud for the fore end is
located differently than the other barrels. Cannot find
any documentation on it and nobody seems to know nothin.
The early fore ends are a single screw but that .45 ACP
barrel does not line up with the single screw or either
of the later double screw fore ends.

Probably have to make one.

Probably 90% or more who post on this website carry, and of course WITH CCP. A .380 fits comfortably in my pocket and will not be overly bulky if it need be pulled in a hurry. More and more now the criminally brazen thugs are trying to grab cash in the broad daylight. My suggestion is to always put your hand in the carry pocket when you even think something is not right in your immediate area. Two issues I always preach. 1. Don’t pull it out unless you intend or have to use it. 2. MOST IMPORTANT..when only one of the two of you remains breathing (hopefully YOU), there is only ONE story for the po po to listen to. Final thought..whether it was Iraq, the Stans, RVN or where ever, if you earned a CAR, then you are not likely to be suffering any form of emotional guilt should you be forced to remove another maggot from society. When it comes to voting, if you don’t shoot to kill, then you ain’t a Biden man. SARC.

I’ve had my CCL for almost 30 years. Thankfully, I’ve never had to fire my weapon. But, I have had to “display” it twice to let ne’er do wells no that I was aware of them. The first time, I was traveling with my family to visit my parents. A carload of punks thought it would be amusing to harass us and tried to run us off the road. After their second attempt, I pulled my 1911A1 out of the console and made sure they saw it. With saucer eyes, they decided to go look for “fun” elsewhere. The second time was just a few short years ago. My youngest son and I were the local Wally World. When leaving, I noticed two young men wandering around the back of the lot (I like to be aware of my surroundings). We were loading the bags in the trunk of my car when I saw the young men had taken an interest in us and were not so casually making their way in our direction. I can honestly say this because they didn’t look anywhere but at us while whispering to each other. I let them get within twenty yards of us. I looked them in the eyes, bent overever so slightly, and lifted my shirt, showing them my Sig P320. They did an abrupt 180 and left, deciding their “interest” was in other things. I’ve had people ask me why I carry. Their argument is that I live in a “safe place” in rural Indiana. They think that ‘the sticks’ are a safe place where hardly any crime ever happens. They don’t know about the meth users and meth labs that devastated this county just a few years ago. They’re ignorant of the gangs who had moved into this rural county to take advantage of the drug trade. They don’t realize that because I’m wheelchair bound I have a huge target on my back. The scum of society see my as an easy target. I like to disabuse them of that notion. Statistics say I may be “safe” 99% of… Read more »

Practice drawing and firing that pocket carry piece.

Learn what size you need to ensure it comes out when you want, and stays in when you want.

Also practice from seated. Most folks don’t. Few who do can get the thing out without fuss or oops.

If the Nashville citizen hada shot the perp with the Thompson Contender in a say, oh, let’s go big or go home and use a .45/70, in the knee, the perp woulda had to drag itself away. Re pete from Friday but it should be obvious from the number of EARNED FIRSTs on the TAH WOT, I am a fan of re petes.. Posting the recipe for TWBGCC buys you a big bunch of forgiveness. Roh-Dog is still basking in that loving feeling.

Chief Gillispie on “In The Heat of The Night” prolly did more to promote the Thompson than anyone, showcasing it on the program several times. Women folks watched that show to see Bubba. The guys were hoping to see the Hand Portable Artillery.

It’s good that Homeboy wised up and realized that he is the one that is ultimately responsible for the safety of him and his Family. For his sake I hope he has time to get it out from underneath the seat when he drives up on a situation. Not a good time to be fumbling/feeling around.

Had a Contender with the 14″ 5.56/.223 barrel… with a 4X scope it would hold 1″ 100 yard groups all day, all night Mary Ann. To be honest it bored the hell out of me and I traded it for a (also long since traded) 5″ Redhawk. I don’t which is worse… thinking of the ones I could have bought or the ones I once had and let go. The one I shouldn’t have let go? A satin nickel Combat Commander with the best throat and polish job ever, polished guts, adjustable trigger, national match bushing… would feed ANY bullet and put it right where the sights looked.
