It Ain’t Over Yet

| June 1, 2020

The internet is great, isn’t it? One can be a great distance from a city like Philadelphia, where police cars were trashed by looters and pillagers, or a smaller midwestern town like Aurora, IL, where a bank was broken into and looted and set on fire during last night’s pillaging exercises.  I can tune into BBC in the UK and get their news, too, thanks to the interwebs, and while I live a great distance from the city I worked in for several decades, I can keep in touch with the place online. I can do that with Dallas, TX, if need be.  And during these perilous times, in which everything becomes a target for destruction “just because—“, seeing things from a distance is sufficient.

So when the there was a news report this morning that a bank in the town of Aurora, IL, had been broken into and looted, and the reporters at the desk were talking to an FBI agent about it, the agent said that any time a bank is broken into, whether or not anything is taken, it becomes a federal offense. Remember that if you decide to pull a Bonnie & Clyde and rob a bank at gunpoint. Now the Feds are involved, and they will be even more involved if any more banks are broken into during these riots.

There is a video embedded in the article below, regarding the damage to the bank.

https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/bank-in-aurora-on-fire-hundreds-of-protesters-downtown-as-police-try-to-enforce-curfew

It’s clear that this destruction is not over yet. Unless the weather turns bitterly cold and we have snow in June, or something like that, or a couple of massive tornadoes go buzzing along the route of a bunch of protesters and give them what-for, I think this will go on for several weeks. After all, Antifa has made an appearance, and we all know what peaceful creatures they are, don’t we?  Yeah, that’s the loosely organized group cobbled together on the internet, with which a bunch of thugs styling themselves Antifa in Philadelphia, last year beat up two Marines who were minding their own business, and went to jail for it. Real geniuses, weren’t they?

https://www.foxnews.com/us/dc-antifa-leader-is-third-charged-in-marine-attack-in-philadelphia-report

This year, Philadelphia rioters took to the streets, looted stores and other businesses, trashed a line of police cars and stole stuff out of them (not guns, fortunately), and generally trashed the area where they were “protesting” by destroying shops and businesses.

Do you want to know where all of this is going? Yeah, me, too.

It isn’t quite like the Weathermen staging a 4-day protest in 1969 and calling it the Days of Rage.

They had a point and they stuck to it.

This pillaging and looting and destruction going on now has no point, other than a bunch of hooligans going on a bender, and destroying other peoples’ livelihoods.

      Following your lead, AW1Ed:

Had the pleasure of watching Barry McGuire and The Second Chapter of Acts perform this song in one of their concerts in the 1970s…still have the album.

      “He’s Coming Back”

I really enjoyed the Second Chapter of Acts back in the day.

And Love Song, and a few others.

      Thanks for sharing.

        You are so welcome, Graybeard.

Second Chapter of Acts = “The Easter Song”.

Yep, ninja family not only has an Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida album, but also albums from Christian Rock Musicians from the 1970s to include Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill.

    It is not over.

Louisville, Kentucky PD and National Guard “returned fire” while enforcing curfew toward a group of people outside the protest area and unrelated to the protests…

They shot and killed a popular black restaurant owner who was standing outside his business. He was not the shooter. And thus far it looks as though there may not have been a shooter.

To add more to this sad episode; just hours before the restaurant owner was serving free food to cops.

Louisville PD had already been highlighted as being extremely aggressive during these protests. Escalating the situation frequently. Much more aggressive than other cities. They were even shooting pepper balls at any bystanders or citizens as a way to get them to move without ever giving instruction to move. Shooting pepper balls at them was their way of telling them to move.

They were driving up in vehicles and seizing and destroying protestor water property, and medical supplies staged on the outer edges of protest areas. When people tried to stop them they would move aggressively against them with batons and shields while their colleges destroyed the supplies.

There were numerous other overly aggressive and seemingly escalating tactics being employed by the police who seem to be focused on crushing the protests rather than containing them and deescalating the community anger…

People were warning the governor, mayor, and attorney general that their tactics were reckless and could make things worse.

I even sent a message to officials about my concerns with regard to the actions and tactics of Louisville PD a few days ago. I did not send any message to officials in any other city about concerns of their law enforcement tactics. Louisville stood out as being extremely aggressive and unhinged.

I think when the details of this shooting emerge and get national press attention it could lead to an escalation of protests.

I honestly hope there was a shooter. If there was he might be blamed for causing the death and there will be less outrage at the cops and national guard. It will be seen as a tragic accident. Hopefully.

My fear is that it was fireworks, not a shooter.

I really hope there was a shooter.

THEY were out rioting and got their asses handed to them. Your side has been the one threatening to destroy things, burn cities down and YOU are saying that Authorities need to hold back? ONE dirty Cop supported by a couple of others killed a man, but a lot of the crap going on is your batshit crazy comrades doing just what their herders and handlers tell them to, you’re little more than dime-a-dozen PEONS doing their political bidding.

      • Commissar says:

        Who the duck is “they”?

The restaurant owners was not out rioting or protesting.

And the enforcement was a curfew enforcement well outside the protest area.

They were enforcing a curfew against people who were not protestors and not involved in the protests.

And how does anything you describe make this shooting OK?

What kind of society are you cheering for? Police in this country already kill more citizens than any other country in the world. We also implosion more of our citizens,

You always claim to be a freedom living patriot. But everything you say is authoritarian leaning.

        • Ret_25X says:

No KUmizar, everything YOU say is authoritarian.

Your view is that everyone must do it your way or else.

I notice that the problems all seem to be centered around your idea of freedom in the tyrannical progressive precincts.

Weird that, the more democrats you get in power the more regressive the police dept is.

It is almost like the left has a 200 year history of this…oh…wait.

Well Kumizar, just remember…when you dance with the devil you always lose.

          all my love,

          • Commissar says:

Name something I believe that is authoritarian.

If I were to list the tenets of fascism you would agree with most of them.

Yet, you try to claim what I believe is authoritarianism.

            But can’t offer any evidence.

          • SFC D says:

Liberal and progressive democrats consistently blame “institutional racism” for incidents such as the death of George Floyd. So lets peel this onion a little. These institutional racism related events a concentrated in urban areas that have been run by liberal democrats for decades, or as in Atlanta, nearly a century. In other words, liberal democrats ARE the institution, and responsible for the hiring, training, discipline of these “institutionally racist” officers and public officials. You do not get to create the institution, then bitch about it when it blows up in your face. Liberals laid the kindling for this fire over decades of mismanagement. They own it.

(Typo corrected above per request of original author.)

            • SFC D says:

If someone could kindly replace the word “suck” with the word “such” in the above post, I’d be very appreciative. Yeah, I know, it works that way too.

              • Commissar says:

Let’s pretend this killing had nothing to do with racism…

                Does that make it ok?

Is the public wrong for how often police use force and kill citizens even if racism is not a factor?

Aren’t you against government abuse of power?

Why do you defend it so often?

Is it because you are not actually against government control. As long as it is not directed at YOUR identify group?

PS: while the numbers can’t prove any individual act was racist, the empirical evidence makes it clear that implicit racism has a statistically significant impact on police interaction with citizens. Particularly with respect to the use of force.

                • SFC D says:

Kindly point out where I said that Mr. Floyd’s death was OK. It is not. Whether or not it was a racist act by a bad cop is irrelevant. He died in police custody and that is never OK. What is not ok is for locally elected officials to create the institutional racism they then proclaim to be fighting. That’s like the kid that starts a fire so he can call 911 and be a hero. It’s also called hypocrisy, something you seem to be very well versed in.

                • ArmyATC says:

“while the numbers can’t prove any individual act was racist, the empirical evidence makes it clear that implicit racism has a statistically significant impact on police interaction with citizens.”

That assumes that racism is the key motivator for the use of force. You leave at a huge factor, that actions of the community in question. Let me ask you; how would you approach a group that is statistically more prone to violence, more prone to flight, and more prone to fight you?

                • Fyrfighter says:

It had NOTHING to do with racism, it was a bag of shit with anger issues that had no business being a cop. EVERY conservative in the country has called hi out, and said he should be charged. NOONE is defending what he did. At the same time, the thugs you support are burning cities and historic structures to the ground. They are attacking, and threatening the lives of my FD brothers and sisters, as well as my blood relatives. I do, truly, from the bottom of my heart appreciate the kind words you said in relation to my aunt, uncle, dad, and DO, but if you continue to support these savages, you have declared yourself a domestic enemy, and as such, per my oath that I swore, and will (unlike you obviously) honor to the day I die, would treat you appropriately, should we ever come face to face. Please, either change your ways to stop encouraging this destruction of our nation, or do the honorable thing, and remove yourself from the situation.

“Federal Protective Service Officer Killed In Oakland Shooting During George Floyd Protest Identified”

      https://www.foxnews.com/us/federal-law-enforcement-officer-killed-in-oakland-protest-identified

“A federal law enforcement officer in California who was shot and killed at the U.S. courthouse in Oakland during a protest for George Floyd that turned violent has been identified as 53-year-old Patrick Underwood, his family confirmed to Fox News.”

“The shooting occurred on Friday after a vehicle pulled up outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building at about 9:45 p.m. and a person opened fire at two contract security officers who worked for Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service. Underwood was killed while the second officer was wounded and remains in critical condition. His identity has not yet been released.”

“When someone targets a police officer or a police station with an intention to do harm and intimidate — that is an act of domestic terrorism,” Department of Homeland Security Acting Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli said at a Washington, D.C., news conference Saturday.”
“There are currently threats by some to attack police stations and federal buildings,” Cuccinelli said. “That violence not only won’t be tolerated, we are also committed to ensuring that it won’t succeed anywhere.”

“Officers around the country have been facing a barrage of violent attacks in recent days since the death of Floyd, an unarmed black man who died after a former Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for over eight minutes.”

Did you bother to read the articles that a still unknown shooter in Louisville is driving around shooting protestors?

Would you say that justifies protestors shooting at random people driving by?

Why would an unrelated shooting more than 2000 miles away justify a shooting in Louisville?

“The white officer, shown wearing a helmet, face shield, and bulletproof vest, stood in front of Bearno’s By-the-Bridge, a pizza chain restaurant near the Second Street Bridge and the Yum Center.”

I mean, sure it would otherwise fit the narrative. People protecting a cop from protestors is exactly the kind of thing you would expect on here. If the people protecting the cops had the same political leanings as this forum. But the people doing the right thing are not politically aligned with the regulars on this board.

So I did not expect it to be covered here.

I cannot speak for others on TAH, but IMHO, there is a difference between Protesting and Rioting. I think you & I can agree on that.

Kentucky/Louisville will be doing an investigation on the shooting.

I think you may be too young to remember what happened at Kent State.

You know as well as I do that innocent lives are taken during riots. Not any different than drive-by shootings where childrens lives are snuffed out. Happens frequently in Chicago, between gangs of the same race, yet protesting or rioting does not take place, let alone extensive news coverage.

Just think, if those troublmakers never took advantage of Floyd’s death, that owner would have not been shot.

Thank You for your feedback, Commissar. I still believe Soros is behind these riots.

And you are right. It IS not over. Wait until President Trump gets re-elected. There will be more rioting from those spoiled, pampered children because they were probably raised by parents who gave them everything and drummed in their heads that they could never do wrong and everyone else is screwed up except them.

We have exceptions to the above. Our own Cameron is in his 20s and it is obvious his parents and family raised him correctly.

Sister’s boyfriend is CHP. He’s been going to work the last few nights in riot gear, not his regular patrol. Worried sick about him, too.

Fun fact here: they all think Chauvin is a piece of shit who should go down for murder, and are similarly disgusted with the three others who stood by and watched. The general consensus among LEOs across the country seems to be in agreement. And Chauvin is up on charges and going to trial, with evidence mounting against him. This crap about “the system is broken” completely ignores the fact that the system is in fact dropping the hammer on Chauvin’s ass.

How ironic is it that the vilified cops care more about justice for George Floyd than the rioters reverting to savagery and claiming they’re doing it for him?

Andrew Cuomo lashed out at protesters calling to reopen the state earlier this month, saying at a news conference, “you have no right to jeopardize my health … and my children’s health and your children’s health.” Cuomo’s directives have been enforced throughout the state: A New York City tanning salon owner told Fox News he was fined $1,000 for reopening briefly last week, calling the situation “insane” and saying he already was “broke.”

“On Friday, though, Cuomo said he “stands” with those defying stay-at-home orders: “Nobody is sanctioning the arson, and the thuggery and the burglaries, but the protesters and the anger and the fear and the frustration? Yes. Yes, and the demand is for justice.”

“In April, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told the Jewish community that “the time for warnings has passed” after he said a funeral gathering had violated social distancing guidelines. On Sunday, the mayor asserted, “We have always honored non-violent protests.”

“Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, meanwhile, had warned that in-person worship services would be a “public-health disaster,” disregarding constituents’ concerns that he was violating their First Amendment rights. Now, his administration has been distributing masks to rioters, even though public gatherings of 10 or more are still ostensibly banned. Frey also allowed a police station to burn, saying it was necessary to protect police and rioters.”

“The city encourages everyone to exercise caution to stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” a news release read. “The city has made hundreds of masks available to protesters this week.”

“The mayor of Washington D.C., Muriel Bowser, vowed $5,000 fines or 90 days in jail for anyone violating stay-at-home orders. This weekend, though, Bowser defended the protests: “We are grieving hundreds of years of institutional racism. … People are tired, sad, angry and desperate for change.” An angry mob of rioters in the city turned its rage on a Fox News crew early Saturday, chasing and pummeling the journalists outside the White House in a harrowing scene captured on video.”

“And, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti threatened in March to cut power and water for businesses that reopened, saying he wanted to punish “irresponsible and selfish” behavior. In recent days, he has encouraged mass gatherings, even as he condemned violence. “I will always protect Angelenos’ right to make their voices heard — and we can lead the movement against racism without fear of violence or vandalism,” he said.”

I pointed this out days ago.

Doofus Northam has Virginias locked down in their homes until 10 June 2020, yet has not commented on protesters violating the Stay-Home-Rule he imposed.

AND…he decided to have Virginians wear masks while indoors because HE got caught.

If Protesters can gather together in Virginia and shut down an Interstate, then why can’t folks attend Church, i.e. more than 10 without the 6 foot distancing rule?

Doofus speaketh with Fork Tongue…i.e. A Snake In the Grass

P.S. Doofus is NOT the Black Face in his Yearbook picture. That Dude is wearing Glasses. Doofus does not wear glasses. Doofus is the KKK Guy…which is worse than being Black Face.

    • Hondo says:

      No surprise there.

Those arguing for reopening are failing to “respect the authoritah” of the almighty state, and are therefore wrong. Those looting are merely exercising their Progressive-endorsed right to redistribute income, and are therefore to be supported.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

“line up to champion the nationwide mass demonstrations” – is that idiot serious?

Those “mass demonstrations” are orderly and quiet. They have all taken place during daylight. If he isn’t aware of the destruction after dark, he must be living in a closet. If he thinks that destroying property, setting fires to destroy more property, looting a small business (or even a chain store), and firebombing police cars and other vehicles are ‘demonstrations’ when the reality is that they are nothing but pillaging and destruction, he is lying in his teeth. Maybe his house should be burned to the ground.

It’s bad enough that shutdowns have pushed small business owners into financial disorder, but the idiocy in what that jackass said is unforgivable.

Employers who provide a pay check serving the minority and poor areas have been targeted to ensure people don’t have jobs. Furthering the plight of the poor in an attempt to strengthen ANTIFA, black bloc, whatever you want to call these ass hats.

We live a society with rules and order. We are not in 1775 America attempting to throw off the yoke of a foreign government. This is not 1860 with American’s owning chattel property.

This is a blatant attempt to stir up emotion in time for the upcoming election. A tragedy occurred, the individuals responsible are being held accountable (so far at least), but that doesn’t matter. Burn it down. SMDH.

Sure is easier to destroy something than it is to build it up.

  5. Question: If more whites are killed by Police, then how come I never saw any of the stuff that is going on now?? I mentioned this to my liberal cousin awhile ago and he says it has to do with disapportion numbers between whites and blacks. Well if more whites are killed by Police then more whites are killed by Police period. Less blacks are killed by Police so that means that more blacks have to be killed by Police to make it even. Don’t understand that.

    • ninja says:

      I don’t see folks protesting Black-On-Black shootings, i.e. Chicago.

      Wonder why.

      • SFC D says:

Because young black men killing young black men is acceptable to liberal democrats. It allows them to blame the NRA and legal gun owners. Anyone killed in the crossfire or by a “stray” bullet are more fodder for their cause.

        No sarcasm intended or implied.

    • penguinman000 says:

My take is folks don’t want to recognize most of the horrible practices in the past are long gone. PDs all around the US used to (70s-80s) do some pretty horrific stuff. One of the more extreme examples was the Chicago PD having a holding facility “off the books” where they would beat the snot of folks to coerce confessions. Once they got the confession they would be taken in to be booked.

And then policies such as broken window policing, which sounded good, turned out to be not such a good idea. Doing things like writing tickets for riding a bicycle without a headlight at night (true story) takes money out of the pocket folks can’t afford. Then when they don’t pay the fines it eventually ends up as a criminal matter.

Those days are largely gone. Still work to be done but things have changed a lot. Watch season 1 of cops on youtube and you’ll get a good idea of how far things have come. Race out of place (as reasonable suspicion/probable cause) is rampant in that season. If you were to use that as RS/PC now days you would be looking for new employment after a lawyer raked you over the coals.

Part of the issue is lingering sentiment from that.

But these same people don’t want to acknowledge there are clear issues in the African American community with crime.

-In 2017 whites and blacks accounted for 5.6 million/8.1 million arrested in the US. Whites were where charged with murder/manslaughter in 4,1000 cases. Blacks in 5,000 cases. Robbery (which means violence was used/threatened) cases were 32,000 for whites and 40,000 for blacks. In most other categories the numbers are fairly representative of the totals arrested. That isn’t the case with crimes involving violence. The numbers are completely out of whack. There is strong statistical evidence the African American community in the US has a violence issue.

      source: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/table-43

Pretending there isn’t a violence issue permeating African American culture in the US may be something folks find uncomfortable to address but its a fact. You can’t fix something until you identify all the root causes.

      • Fyrfighter says:

” There is strong statistical evidence the African American community in the US has a violence issue.” just saying that makes you a racist to the left… just because it’s a fact means nothing to them, they believe that the only reason that blacks are arrested more often than white is because of racism, not because of a criminal problem in the black community. And God forbid that you bring up that a root cause of such criminality is the number of fatherless black males, and that the left is behind encouraging such a situation… It’s a self licking ice-cream cone, with so many layers, you’ll never get through them with the fools that believe the lie of present day white racism (black / minority racism is alive and well on the other hand)…

A year ago the city of Virginia Beach, Virginia experienced the worst act of violence that has ever happened in the city.

A Gunman stole the lives of 12 people and injured four others during a mass shooting in Virginia Beach, on May 31, 2019.

I don’t remember riotings occuring after this tragic incident.

And some of the victims were Black.

There WERE some protests, i.e. those in favor of Gun Control. In fact, the news media focused more on the “horrors” of guns rather than the Shooter.
