Belmont County man sentenced to life with parole possible after child rape, drug case

Story by EMMA BRANNARE
A Belmont County man with a long history of run-ins with the law has been sentenced to 18 years to life in prison in a child sex abuse case.

Thomas Carson’s sentencing means he will likely never be released, according to Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan.

Flanagan said Carson’s criminal history played a major role in the outcome, noting Carson has a lengthy record that includes six prior felonies, along with juvenile and misdemeanor offenses.

“We have handled or had a number of cases with Mr. Carson over the last three decades. However, none involved child sex abuse. This is the first case of sex abuse that we handled. He was just released from prison on another case we handled in April of 2024, and it was soon after that that these allegations started to surface,” Flanagan said.

Investigators said the case stemmed from a comprehensive investigation by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, which determined Carson had sexual contact with at least one child under the age of 16 who was known to him.

He should have been sentenced to a wood-chipper, but he won’t last long in the prison’s general pop.

It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.

Bought the Kimber Ultra Carry .45 3in. barrel a number of years ago and and on the field strip side, a short L shaped piece of piano wire is included to capture the recoil spring…. Carried it once or twice then when covid hit and I had nothing to do, I used my 8in. wide food saver vacume and sealed the kimber and the 10 or 11 handguns and wrapped them with Brownells anti rust paper inside food saver 8 inch bags and put them in my safe leaving my Springfield XDe .9MM and Rohrbraugh 9 mm 3in. barrel to carry.
